Putrajaya Has Exactly One Mall Of Its Own — And It Isn't The Big One
Putrajaya has a single shopping centre inside its own federal-territory boundaries: Alamanda Shopping Centre in Precinct 1, open since August 2004, owned by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd and recently through a RM100 million redevelopment. Everything else people mean when they say "shopping in Putrajaya" is across a boundary line. IOI City Mall — officially Malaysia's largest mall by net lettable area — sits in IOI Resort City on the Sepang side. The two Cyberjaya centres are about 15 minutes away, and the nearest outlet mall is 13 minutes south in Sepang.
This guide covers all seven, and it covers the part most mall listicles skip: what parking actually costs, what time everything closes, and how to get there without a car.
Getting There: Parking Rates, The RM1.10 Bus, And The Shuttle That No Longer Runs
IOI City Mall's parking is not a flat rate, and the weekend jump is real. From the mall's own rate card:
- Normal parking — RM3 for the first hour on weekdays, RM5 on weekends and public holidays; RM1 for each subsequent hour either way.
- Premier parking — RM15 for the first 3 hours on weekdays, RM20 on weekends/PH; RM2 per hour after that.
- Valet — RM17 for the first 3 hours Monday to Thursday, RM27 Friday/weekends/PH; RM2 per hour after, capped at RM25 and RM50 respectively.
- Motorcycles — RM1 per entry per day on weekdays, RM2 on weekends/PH.
- There is a 20-minute grace period from payment to exit, and the mall explicitly asks you not to validate a ticket if you are only driving through — once validated, normal rates apply.
The free fix: CLUB IOI members get an unlimited RM1 off normal parking and RM5 off premier parking, with no cap on how many times. Signing up costs nothing beyond downloading the app, which turns a weekday premier stay into RM10 instead of RM15, and a weekend normal first hour into RM4.
If you would rather not drive, RapidKL route T523 runs MRT Putrajaya Sentral ↔ IOI City Mall ↔ KTM Serdang for RM1.10 per way, roughly hourly — outbound from Putrajaya Sentral at 0600 through 2100, inbound from KTM Serdang at 0630 through 2130. Pick-up at the mall is the Bus Terminal, West Wing. One caveat worth knowing: the schedule sheet IOI publishes is dated 5 April 2023, so treat the last departures as indicative rather than guaranteed.
What is not indicative: IOI City Mall's own free shuttle bus has ceased operation until further notice, stated plainly on the mall's Getting Here page. Older blog posts still promising a shuttle from Putrajaya Sentral are out of date. A metered taxi from Putrajaya Sentral takes about 15 minutes; from KL city centre, about 30.
Over at Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang you can get 2 hours of parking free, but the conditions matter: minimum RM100 spend across at most two receipts, Mitsui Shopping Park MY App members only, redeemed by showing your member QR code and a Touch 'n Go card at the Information Counter in Sunshine Square. One redemption per customer per day, valid weekdays, weekends and public holidays, and reprinted or duplicate receipts are refused.
Opening hours are the easy part — IOI City Mall, D'Pulze and Alamanda all run 10am to 10pm daily. Tamarind Square is an open-air precinct, so its hours vary tenant by tenant, with cafes typically the earliest to open and the latest to close.
What's Actually Live Right Now (Re-Verified 31 October 2026)
October's big draws are closing. AEON's 42nd Anniversary Spend & Win with Batik Air ends today, 31 October; HomePro's 12th Anniversary ends on Monday 2 November; Mitsui's Instant Cashback Reward finished on 4 October, and Alamanda's Hari Sukan Negara weekend ran on 17–18 October. What carries you into November is mostly Deepavali-led. Every line below was checked against the operator's own channel on 31 October, not against an aggregator.
- Alamanda Deepavali Rewards, 23 October – 9 November — spend RM500 across up to two receipts at Alamanda's specialty stores for a RM30 Alamanda e-voucher plus two scented candles, or RM1,500 for RM80 in e-vouchers plus the candles. Same-day redemption, one per shopper per day, 18 and over. Full rules in the next section.
- AEON Deepavali deals, 12 October – 9 November (AEON Putrajaya, IOI City Mall) — read the small print, because several flyer items skip this store. What AEON Putrajaya does carry: the Guys' Vision basic kurta at RM69, Camel Active ladies' comfort sandals at RM99 (normally RM199), JKIDS denim long pants at RM29 (RM39) and JKIDS terry long pants at RM10 (RM19.90). The Arcadia kurtis (RM99–RM139), Arcadia tapered pants and the Guys' Vision embroidered kurta are all marked *not available at AEON Putrajaya*. Alongside it, AEON's Exclusive Rewards (from 12 October, while stocks last) give a Deepavali money packet for a single receipt of RM100 (members) or RM150 (non-members), and a Deepavali bag for RM250 / RM300 on the general-merchandise floors.
- HomePro, IOI City Mall — the 12th Anniversary (up to 60% off, up to RM100 off with Grab PayLater, SPayLater or Atome, and a 5g gold-bar draw) has two days left, to 2 November. The campaign that outlasts it is the Bathroom Makeover Sales, 1 October 2026 – 3 January 2027: HomePro's own sale page lists the Johnson Suisse Erika one-piece toilet set at RM1,099 (normally RM1,499), the Akron WCO-80101 rimless one-piece toilet at RM399 (RM499) and an Akron 5-in-1 counter washbasin at RM399 (RM699).
- Mitsui fair spaces, into November — from the mall's own Mall Fair Updates page: Larrie 30 October – 29 November, IZO Jeans to 19 November, Brooks 28 October – 10 November, Sembonia and Travel Zone 27 October – 9 November, and Nautica, Leather Avenue and BFF Label to 8 November. More than a dozen tenants, GODIVA, MANGO, Triumph, WACOAL and Hackett London among them, post their own Diwali Specials on the same feed.
- Mitsui's Payday Reward 2026, to December — spend RM20 at a participating outlet and claim a free RM10 e-voucher through the app, one per member.
- Alamanda tenant offers — Sasa up to 60% off until 3 November; Krispy Kreme 20% off all beverages every Tuesday; Bayu Somerset's Somer-Scent candle for RM49 with a minimum purchase.
- D'Pulze, Cyberjaya — quieter. Pierre Cardin Lingerie's buy 2, get 3 free ends on 1 November. The mall's late-October posts are a free 1.5-hour Diya painting workshop for Deepavali (the post gives no date, so ring customer service on 03-8689 5501) and bonus FUNMAX arcade tokens on the 2nd Floor.
- Clarks at Alamanda — RM50 off a minimum RM400 spend for Maybank cardholders, Lower Ground Floor of Plaza Mall, valid to 30 November 2026.
- CLUB IOI parking — the evergreen one. The app is free and takes RM1 off every normal-parking stay and RM5 off premier at IOI City Mall, with no limit.
A worked example. Redo a small bathroom from HomePro's Bathroom Makeover list at IOI City Mall: the Johnson Suisse Erika toilet set (RM1,099) plus the Akron 5-in-1 counter washbasin (RM399) comes to RM1,498, against RM2,198 at normal prices — RM700 less. That sale runs into January, so there is no need to squeeze it into the anniversary's last weekend. Park premier for three hours on a weekday as a CLUB IOI member and that costs RM10 instead of RM15.
Two short-window offers at Mitsui if you are going this weekend: Kate Spade New York Outlet (G32) has 60% off selected handbags from 30 October to 1 November only, and up to 65% off with a free gift on a RM800 spend to the same date. Under Armour (F44-45) runs buy 2 for an extra 20% off and buy 4 for an extra 50% off, with no end date posted.
One offer that looks usable locally but isn't: the Batik Air × Mitsui Shopping Park promotion running to 30 November 2026 is for Batik Air passengers flying to Japan, redeemable at Mitsui outlets there — not at KLIA. The version that does work at KLIA is a separate campaign: show a Batik Air boarding pass and passport at the Ground Floor Information Counter for a free RM10 discount voucher and a tote bag, first 200 eligible customers each month, running to 31 December 2026.
Deepavali At Alamanda, 23 October – 9 November
Alamanda's Deepavali 2026 campaign is run by the mall's owner, Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd, and its terms are published on the mall's own site.
- Festive Rewards — RM500 and above in up to two receipts: a RM30 Alamanda Shopping e-voucher plus 2 scented candles.
- High Spender Rewards — RM1,500 and above in up to two receipts: RM80 in e-vouchers plus 2 scented candles.
- What counts — original receipts from Alamanda's specialty stores only. AEON Big, Cold Storage, the RASA food court, pushcarts, promotional kiosks and utility-bill payments are excluded, and so is any receipt paid, even partly, with Alamanda e-vouchers from an earlier campaign.
- The rules — redeem on the same day as the purchase, one redemption per shopper per day, 18 and over, while stocks last.
Worked example. A RM320 outfit and a RM200 pair of shoes on two receipts the same day add up to RM520, which clears the first tier: RM30 back in e-vouchers is about 5.8%, plus the candles. The RM1,500 tier pays RM80, about 5.3% — so the lower tier is the better rate, and there is no reason to stretch for the top one unless you were spending that anyway.
Cyberjaya And Sepang Round Out The Options
Putrajaya and Cyberjaya work as twin administrative-and-tech townships about 15 minutes apart, and residents treat the retail in both as one catchment. That is why D'Pulze Shopping Centre and Tamarind Square are on this list rather than filed as "Selangor malls". Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang, 13 minutes south, is the nearest proper outlet mall and the only place on the list where you are shopping past-season stock at outlet pricing rather than mall pricing.
How To Pick
- You're already doing the Putrajaya sightseeing loop → Alamanda. It's the only one inside the federal territory, it's walkable from the Precinct 1 attractions, and until 9 November its Deepavali campaign gives RM30 back on a RM500 spend.
- One trip, want everything → IOI City Mall. Malaysia's largest, with an ice rink, an indoor adventure park and a farm attraction if the shopping is not the point for everyone in the car.
- Groceries, appliances and home goods in one stop → AEON at IOI City Mall, which carries the largest Home Coordy department in AEON's Malaysian network; until stocks run out, a RM100 receipt (members) also earns a Deepavali money packet.
- Brand names at a discount → Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA, with over 200 stores, a free-parking mechanic that pays for itself above a RM100 spend, and a year-round RM10 e-voucher that only needs a RM20 receipt.
- You live or work in Cyberjaya → D'Pulze for the everyday run; Tamarind Square when you want a coffee and a wander rather than a mall.
- Books, coffee and a wander rather than a mall → Tamarind Square, for the BookXcess at L3M-04 and the open-air courtyard around it.
- Big-ticket appliances and bathroom fittings → HomePro at IOI City Mall: the 12th Anniversary prices end 2 November, the Bathroom Makeover Sales run to 3 January 2027. BEST Denki is in the same mall, but call ahead: the chain's website has shown a "We'll be back soon" page since August and still did on 31 October, and its newest campaign (11.11 Crazy Deals, 30 October – 15 November) is for the MyTOWN store only.
What We Left Out, And What We Couldn't Verify
Malls that get lumped in with "Putrajaya shopping" online — IPC Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya, SACC Mall in Shah Alam — are Klang Valley malls a 30 to 40 minute drive away with no meaningful Putrajaya connection, so they're excluded. Everything listed here is either inside Putrajaya or a genuinely short drive from it.
Two gaps we're stating rather than papering over. Tamarind Square's news feed still carries MCO notices from 2021, so treat its events calendar as dead; its searchable tenant directory, however, is genuinely current at 346 listings and is the part worth using. And BEST Denki's Malaysian website has been in maintenance mode since August and still was on 31 October, which is why no BEST Denki campaign appears here. Its holding page still lists the IOI City Mall store on 03-8682 1790.
One thing we could not settle. IOI City Mall's own promotions page lists only titles — October Birthday Babies, the CLUB IOI parking rate, IOI SHOPZ delivery and the IOI Kids Club — and the detail pages are empty: no dates, no mechanics, no poster. Rather than guess at them, we've left them out; ask at the concierge if you're going anyway.
