> Quick view: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) is closing its five-week 63rd anniversary run with a free OTR 2 Shots for MyCBTL members. Redeem it in the app for 63 Bean Points when vouchers drop at 3pm daily, until Sunday 25 October 2026. There are only 630 vouchers a day across Malaysia and each member gets one per week, so you need to be in the app at 3pm sharp. The same week also brings RM6.30 patch sets and a new café at AEON Mall AU2 Setiawangsa.

What is on offer this week

CBTL has run a different MyCBTL treat every week since 21 September to mark 63 years since its first café opened in 1963. Week 5 was added as an "extended" bonus round, and CBTL calls it the final drop. The offer is a free OTR 2 Shots, the chain's build-your-own espresso-over-ice drink, for 63 Bean Points. Under the official terms:

  • Vouchers go live in the app at 3pm every day from 19 to 25 October.
  • 630 vouchers a day, first come, first served.
  • One voucher per member per campaign week. If you redeemed one on Monday, you cannot redeem again on Friday.
  • The e-voucher is valid for 7 days after redemption, so a voucher grabbed on Sunday 25 October can still be used the following weekend.
  • It covers the OTR 2 Shots only. Flavour boosts, crème crowns, toppings and other add-ons are charged as usual.

How to claim it, step by step

  1. Download the MyCBTL app and sign up before 3pm. Account setup is not something you want to do while the vouchers are running out.
  2. Check your balance. You need 63 Bean Points. CBTL gives 5 Bean Points per RM1 spent in-café or through Mobile Order, counted after discounts and before SST. Scan your member QR code at the counter before paying, or the points will not count.
  3. Open the app a few minutes before 3pm and refresh the Rewards Catalog once the voucher appears.
  4. Redeem it. It moves into "My Vouchers".
  5. Within 7 days, order your OTR in the app or show your QR at the café and ask the crew to apply the voucher.

How fast it goes

Expect it to go very fast. Under CBTL's own 18 October announcement post, members say the app hung at 3pm and showed "fully redeemed" within minutes (one member saw it at 3:13pm, another said it was gone at 3:00pm). CBTL itself notes that if the voucher is gone from the app, that day's batch has been taken. Competition should ease slightly as the week goes on, because members who redeemed earlier in the week are locked out until it ends.

Worked examples

  • Brand-new member with zero points: a single in-café purchase of RM12.60 (before SST) earns exactly 63 points. New members also get 50% off their first welcome drink, so the most efficient route is to use that first and keep the points for the 3pm drop.
  • Regular with points to spare: the regular Rewards Catalog starts at 200 Bean Points (which takes RM40 of spending). At 63 points, this is cheaper than anything in the catalog.
  • Planning a RM49 order anyway: RM49 earns 245 Bean Points and also unlocks this week's patch set at RM6.30 instead of RM18.90, a RM12.60 saving.

Who it is good for, and who should skip

It suits office workers near a CBTL café in the Peninsula who can open their phone at 3pm on a weekday or weekend. It also suits existing members sitting on a few hundred unused points. Skip it if you are in Sabah or Sarawak (the voucher only works at Peninsular cafés), if your nearest café is at KLIA or klia2 (airports are excluded), or if you already redeemed a Week 5 voucher.

Fine print that trips people up

  • Not combinable with other ongoing promotions or discounts, and only one e-voucher per transaction.
  • If you order two eligible drinks, the voucher applies to the cheaper one.
  • The 7-day validity starts at redemption, not at the end of the campaign.
  • CBTL may amend or end the promotion without notice, and all MyCBTL Rewards terms apply.

  • Make It Yours patches: six more sticker patches (12 of 18 released so far) are out from 21 to 27 October. A set costs RM6.30 with a minimum spend of RM49 (retail RM18.90), while stocks last.
  • New café at AEON Mall AU2 Setiawangsa (Lot G49), opening Saturday 24 October. Spend RM49 in one in-store receipt for a free Park & Sip Note on 24-25 October, then one Gachapon spin per RM49 receipt from 26 October to 4 November. GrabFood, foodpanda and MyCBTL app orders do not count.
  • Brew & Beats: CBTL's anniversary music night. Members short of points can book a spot for 63 Bean Points + RM30 in the MyCBTL app. It will also stream on TikTok LIVE @coffeebeanmy, with vouchers to be won.
