> Quick view: the RM49 opening promo at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's Serenia City café ended on 22 August 2026, and CBTL's Merdeka 50%-off Asam Boi Mixer offer ended on 20 August. The café itself is open and trading. What is still on is CBTL's limited-time drinks line-up — Hojicha & Warabi Mochi, the CBTL x Izzati Suza asam boi Mixers, the Swedish Berries Mixer and Gravity — none of which carry a published end date.

Status check: what has ended

  • The opening promo (RM49 single receipt): a free Park & Sip Note on 11–12 August, then a Gachapon surprise-prize draw from 13–22 August. Ended 22 August 2026. There is no successor promo at this outlet.
  • Merdeka: 50% off the Asam Boi Mixer — redeemed by posting CBTL's "Add Yours" Instagram Story template, tagging the person you were thankful for and @coffeebeanmy, then showing the Story to a barista. Ran 10–20 August 2026. Ended.
  • "A Patriotic Celebration of Flavors You Love" — the Merdeka food line (Pistachio Kunafa Butter Croissant, Roti John Sandwich, Asam Pedas Penne Pasta, Choco-Nana Cake, Cendol Cake For Two) plus a limited-edition Merdeka sticker collection. Malaysian promo listings date this 5–25 August 2026, but CBTL's own campaign page still describes the food line as available now for a limited time. Treat the 25 August end date as unconfirmed by the brand, and ask in store.

What is actually on at CBTL right now

Checked against The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Malaysia's own Merdeka 2026 campaign page on 28 August 2026. The brand describes all of these as "available now for a limited time" and publishes no end date for any of them:

  • Hojicha & Warabi Mochi — Hojicha Tea Latte (hot or iced), Hojicha Ice Blended®, plus two versions served with soft warabi mochi: the Iced Hojicha Tea Latte and the Hojicha Ice Blended®. CBTL pitches hojicha as the low-caffeine option.
  • CBTL x Izzati Suza (the Merdeka drinks) — two asam boi Mixers: the Apple Crisp Ceylon Tea Mixer with Asam Boi and the Rose Mango Asam Boi Swedish Berries Tea Mixer. Both are served sparkling or non-sparkling. These are the drinks that carried the 50% Merdeka discount until 20 August; the drinks are still on the menu, the discount is not.
  • Swedish Berries Mixer x Wunderbath — served in 16oz, sparkling or non-sparkling, and also available unsweetened. The collaboration extends off the menu into a Wunderbath fragrance mist in the same flavour.
  • Gravity — an 8oz pistachio milk base layered with floating matcha, espresso or houjicha.

One thing worth setting expectations on: CBTL Malaysia publishes no café menu prices anywhere on coffeebean.com.my. Not on the campaign pages, and not in the online-store section, which redirects back to the homepage. Any RM figure you see quoted for these drinks is somebody's receipt, not a brand-published price.

The café itself

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, The Corak, Serenia City — 32, Jalan Citra Serenia 3/5, Bandar Serenia, 43900 Sepang, Selangor. Phone +60 16-956 6750.

The opening campaign gave the hours as 7am–12am. Google's listing for the outlet shows 7am–11:30pm (checked Friday 28 August 2026). That is a half-hour gap on the closing time, so phone ahead if you are planning a late visit. The outlet is trading normally and carries a 3.9 rating.

The locator gap is still open

CBTL's own store locator lists 197 Malaysian outlets, and Serenia City is not one of them as of 28 August 2026 — more than two weeks after it opened. Its Sepang entries are four other cafés: Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA, KLIA Level 3, KLIA 2 Gateway and Kota Warisan. (An earlier version of this article said the locator's only Sepang entries were Mitsui Outlet Park and Kota Warisan; there are in fact four, including two inside the airport.)

Being unlisted has two practical consequences: there is no official page where you can check this outlet's hours, and there is no order-ahead link for it.

Order ahead: only about half the network has it

CBTL runs takeaway ordering through cbtl.order.place, and only 107 of the 197 listed outlets carry an order-ahead link at all. In Selangor it is 29 of 55. Serenia City, being unlisted, has none — you order at the counter.

Do not trust the locator's opening hours

This is worth knowing before you drive anywhere in the CBTL network. 56 of the 197 listed outlets show two different "Daily" opening-hours lines on the same locator card. Examples, all from CBTL's own locator:

  • Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA — listed as both "Daily: 10.00am – 10.00pm" and "Daily: 7.00 AM – 11.30 PM".
  • KLIA 2 Gateway — listed as both "Daily: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM" and "Daily: 6.00 AM – 12.00 AM".
  • Ativo Plaza — reads "Daily: 7.30 am – 11:00 am" against "Daily: 7.00 AM – 10.30 PM".

Where the two disagree, neither is marked as the authoritative one. Phone the outlet for anything time-critical.

The MyCBTL catch for Selangor customers

This is the one that can actually cost you. The MyCBTL app is where CBTL's rewards live: 5 Bean Points for every RM1 spent (counted after discounts but before SST, and excluding tips, charitable donations and delivery fees), a welcome drink on your first transaction, a slice of cake with any drink purchase during your birthday month, and 3× Bean Points for your first 30 days after signup. For in-café purchases you scan your member QR code at the cashier before paying.

But CBTL's own MyCBTL page carries two statements that contradict each other:

  • The notice at the top of the page says MyCBTL is still in Early Access and "currently available in Peninsular Malaysia, excluding locations in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya & Selangor".
  • The FAQ further down the same page says the programme is "now available at all participating cafés in Peninsular Malaysia", excluding only a short list of KLIA satellite-building and departure-gate outlets.

Serenia City is in Selangor. Under the Early Access notice, this café — along with roughly 100 of CBTL's 197 listed outlets, about half the network, which sit in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur or Putrajaya — would be outside the rewards programme entirely. Under the FAQ, it would not. Until CBTL reconciles the two, assume the more restrictive reading and check inside the app before you count on earning Bean Points here.

Who it suits, and who should skip

Worth the trip if you live in Bandar Serenia or the wider Serenia City township and want an early coffee stop that is not a drive out to Kota Warisan or the airport, or you want to try the hojicha and asam boi drinks without an airport detour.

Skip it if you were going for the opening freebies — they are gone and nothing replaced them — or if you need to order ahead, earn Bean Points reliably, or work to a confirmed closing time. On all three, the KLIA cluster is the safer bet, and KLIA Level 3 runs 24 hours.

What we could not verify

  • End dates for any of the current drinks, including Gravity — CBTL publishes none.
  • Menu prices — the brand's Malaysian site carries none at all.
  • Per-day opening hours for Serenia City. Google's public listing rendered only Friday's hours, so we have not confirmed whether any day of the week differs.
  • Whether the Merdeka food line genuinely ended on 25 August. The brand's own page still lists it as available.
