> Quick view: Damai Beach Resort in Santubong sells a 2-day, 1-night Damai Escapade at RM240 nett on Sunday to Thursday nights and RM340 nett on Fridays and Saturdays, with breakfast for two, early check-in and late check-out when rooms allow, and 10% off food. On Saturdays it lights a bonfire on the beach for a BBQ buffet at RM88+ per adult. Its Damai Nature Escapes boat tours (mangroves, dolphins, fireflies, Satang Island) run until year-end. The weekday stay is the one worth booking.
Damai Beach Resort sits at Teluk Bandung on the Santubong peninsula, about 35km north of Kuching city, between Mount Santubong and the South China Sea. It is run by Hemisphere, the same group behind Grand Margherita and Riverside Majestic in town, and is a neighbour of Sarawak Cultural Village. All the offers below come from the resort's own offers page at damaibeachresort.com, where each one is published as a poster. We read every poster and then priced real dates on the resort's direct booking engine so you can see what each deal is worth.
Damai Escapade Deals: how it works
- Pick your night. Sunday to Thursday check-ins cost RM240 nett for 2 days, 1 night. Friday and Saturday check-ins cost RM340 nett.
- Book by phone or email. The poster gives +6019-886 4088 and resvn@damaibeachresort.com. It is not a rate you can pick on the website's booking engine.
- What you get: breakfast for two, early check-in and late check-out (both subject to room availability), and 10% off your total F&B bill, excluding alcohol and promotional items.
"Nett" means no SST is added on top, which matters for the comparison below. The poster does not name the room category, so ask which room the package uses when you call.
Is it actually cheaper? We checked the booking engine
We searched the resort's direct booking site for two adults, one night, on the "Best Flexible rate Incl Breakfast" (which is prepaid and non-cancellable despite its name).
Tuesday 22 September 2026. The cheapest room was a Quadruple Balcony Single at RM302, then Standard Balcony King RM320, Superior Poolside King RM329, Superior Chalet King RM356 and Deluxe Hilltop King RM401. The checkout page adds 8% SST, so RM302 becomes RM326.16. The RM240 nett Escapade saves you RM86.16 on the cheapest room, plus the late check-out and 10% F&B discount the direct rate does not include.
Saturday 26 September 2026. The same rooms were RM332, RM351, RM361, RM391 and RM441. With SST the cheapest is RM358.56. The RM340 nett weekend Escapade saves only RM18.56. That is still a saving, and the late check-out is worth having on a Sunday, but it is not the headline deal. If the package puts you in a better category than the Quadruple Balcony, the weekend saving grows, which is another reason to ask about the room type.
Bonfire BBQ Buffet Dinner, Saturdays
Every Saturday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, tables go out on the beachfront around a large bonfire. Prices are RM88+ per adult, RM68+ for seniors aged 60 and above and RM38+ for children aged 4 to 11. The "+" means SST is added. Two discounts are printed on the poster: 20% off when you book through the free Insiders Club app, and 10% off for in-house guests.
Worked example, family of four (two adults, children aged 6 and 9). At full price: 2 x RM88 + 2 x RM38 = RM252, or about RM267 with 6% SST on food. Booked through the Insiders Club app: RM201.60 before tax, about RM214. As in-house guests with the 10% discount: about RM240. The poster does not say whether the two discounts stack, so assume they do not. It also gives no price for children under 4.
Damai Nature Escapes: mangroves, dolphins and fireflies
This is a joint Damai Beach Resort and Damai Lagoon Resort programme. Prices below are subject to SST.
- Package A (2 hours, departs 9am): mangrove tour, wildlife, dolphin spotting. RM275+ per person, RM450+ for a couple, RM925+ for a group of at least 6.
- Package B (2.5 hours, departs 5pm): the same plus fireflies. RM350+ per person, RM600+ per couple, RM1,050+ for 6.
- Package C (1 day, departs 9am): mangroves, wildlife, Satang Island trip, snorkelling and the turtle research centre. RM550+ per person, RM875+ per couple, RM2,050+ for 6.
The group price is where the value is. Six friends on Package A pay about RM154 each instead of RM275. On Package B, a couple saves RM100 against two individual tickets, and a group of six pays RM175 each for the evening firefly trip. Package C for six works out to about RM342 per person for a full day that includes an island.
The terms: minimum 2 people per boat (so a solo traveller cannot book the individual rate alone), book at least one day before, subject to weather, and not available during the monsoon season. The poster does not define monsoon dates. On Sarawak's coast the northeast monsoon usually brings rougher seas towards the end of the year, so if you are planning November or December, call before you build a trip around it.
Damai Destination Package
For visitors flying in, the resort also sells a package split between Santubong and town: Package A, 4 days 3 nights, RM1,750+ and Package B, 3 days 2 nights, RM1,380+. The poster describes twin sharing with two nights at Damai Beach Resort and one night at Grand Margherita or Riverside Majestic, daily breakfast for two, return airport transfer, Santubong mountain climbing, entrance to Sarawak Cultural Village and a 60-minute full body massage. It does not say how the 3-day version splits its nights, or whether the price is per package or per person. Ask both. For scale, Sarawak Cultural Village alone is RM95 per Malaysian adult online, according to our Kuching attraction prices guide.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
Book the weekday Escapade if you live in Kuching and want a quiet night by the beach, or you are visiting and can shift your Santubong night to Sunday to Thursday. Pair it with Package B on the boat and you have a full evening.
Think twice about the weekend Escapade. You save under RM20 compared with the resort's own direct rate. Compare it with the booking engine for your actual date before paying.
The Saturday BBQ is good for families and groups who want a night out on the beach without staying over, especially if someone downloads the Insiders Club app first.
Skip the boat tours if you are travelling alone or visiting in the wettest months.
Fine print that trips people up
- No end date on the Escapade or BBQ. The posters were uploaded in July 2026 and are still live on the offers page, but the resort can withdraw them. Confirm when you call.
- Malaysia Day. Wednesday 16 September is a public holiday and Tuesday 15 September is its eve. The poster only says "Sunday - Thursday", with no holiday rule. Ask whether the RM240 rate applies on those dates.
- Early and late check-out are not guaranteed. Both depend on availability.
- The 10% F&B discount excludes alcohol and items already on promotion, such as the BBQ.
- The booking engine rate is non-refundable. If you compare against it, remember the Escapade is booked by phone, and its cancellation terms are not published. Ask.
- Tourism Tax of RM10 per room per night applies to non-Malaysian guests nationwide and is not in either price.
All offers are on Damai Beach Resort's offers page.
