What is running at GAMA now
GAMA is one store, Wisma GAMA on Jalan Dato Keramat, so every campaign below is at the same address. All of it comes from GAMA's own Instagram posts, the newest dated 24 October 2026.
- GAMA Deepavali Fair 2026, 9 October to 9 November 2026, 10am to 9pm, on the 7th floor. GAMA's post of 16 October gives the dates, hours and floor, and the flyer held up in it repeats the dates. The post shows festive lights and clothing on mannequins, but gives no discount rate, no brand list and no item prices.
- 60th anniversary eco bag. Spend RM200 and above for a limited edition eco bag, while stocks last. GAMA's poster dates it August 2026 to July 2027. The full detail is in our GAMA 60th anniversary eco bag guide.
What ended since late September
This page first covered GAMA's Malaysia Food Fiesta (11 to 17 September), then the Mooncake Gift With Purchase, then the stocktake clearance. All of these are over.
- Stocktake Clearance, to 27 September in the supermarket and 30 September in the department store. GAMA never published a rate.
- Sweet Dreams Baby Fair, 7th floor, 4 September to 4 October. GAMA posted the Baby Crawling Contest winners on 30 September. The My Little GAMA Star photo voting closed on 3 October.
- Mooncake Gift With Purchase and Mid-Autumn lucky draw, both 26 August to 24 September. The gift was a coffee tumbler for RM300 OR a towel set for RM600 on one receipt.
- GAMA Deepavali 3-Day Members' Sale, 23 to 25 October 2026, 10am to 10pm, storewide. GAMA's posts of 22 and 24 October listed three member rewards: a RM10 instant rebate on a qualifying spend, an additional 10% off, and double G-Points. The captions did not state the spend needed for the rebate.
- GAMA Colouring Contest 2026. GAMA thanked participants in a post on 20 October, so it has already taken place.
How to approach the Deepavali Fair
The fair sits on the same 7th floor that held the Baby Fair, so it is a seasonal floor that changes campaign every few weeks. Treat it as a place to browse festive clothing and decorations rather than a sale with a known rate.
- No rate to plan around. GAMA's caption carries no "up to X%" and no item list. Any percentage you read elsewhere did not come from GAMA, so compare tags in store.
- Timing. Deepavali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. The fair closes on Monday 9 November, the day after. If you need an outfit or decorations for the day itself, go in the last week of October or the first days of November rather than the final weekend, when George Town's festive shopping peaks around Little India.
- Join the membership before the next round. The 23 to 25 October Members' Sale gave GAMA members an extra 10% off and a RM10 rebate on top of shelf prices, and non-members got neither. GAMA has not announced another members' sale before Deepavali, but if you shop there monthly, ask at the counter about the G-Points card so you are ready when one is posted.
- Same floor, same hours. The 7th floor keeps the fair's 10am to 9pm hours. The supermarket is on the Ground Floor, so a grocery run and a look at the fair fit into one visit.
Worked examples in ringgit
- The eco bag is still the only spend gift. The one threshold at GAMA is RM200. At GAMA's own printed normal prices, the 10kg Limau Bali rice (RM34.50), Breeze detergent 3.6kg (RM29.90), KCA 20-roll tissue (RM29.99) and Dettol shower gel 720ml (RM13.90) come to RM108.29. That leaves roughly RM92 of the month's groceries, or a festive purchase upstairs, to reach the bag.
- Plan on one receipt. The eco bag poster prints only "SPEND RM200 & ABOVE" and says nothing about combining bills. A RM120 grocery shop on the Ground Floor and a RM90 Deepavali purchase on the 7th floor on separate bills may not count. Ask at the counter, or pay on one bill.
- Discounts shrink the receipt. Nothing GAMA has published stops fair purchases from counting towards RM200, but the bill is what counts. RM220 of goods tagged at 20% off comes to RM176 and misses the bag. That 20% is only an example. If the bag matters to you, total the tags before you pay.
Who this is for, and who should skip it
Go if you live or work around Komtar, Magazine Circus, Macalister Road or Jelutong and want festive clothing or decorations without the crowds of the Little India stalls, or if you are doing a monthly grocery run that already lands near RM200.
Skip it if you would drive in from Butterworth or Bayan Lepas just for the fair. GAMA has not published a discount rate, so you cannot tell from home whether the trip pays.
Other changes at the store
- MIXUE next door. GAMA posted on 9 October that a MIXUE outlet had opened beside GAMA in soft opening, with the official opening on 11 October 2026.
- Self-checkout. GAMA announced new self-checkout counters on 11 September. GAMA has not said whether the eco bag can be claimed at a self-checkout, so if you are aiming for RM200, use a staffed counter.
What the Food Fiesta looked like, for the next round
GAMA runs supermarket promotions on a regular cycle, so the last set of prices is a useful yardstick. Every Food Fiesta card printed GAMA's normal price (NP) beside the special.
- Dettol shower gel 720ml was RM8.49 against an NP of RM13.90, 39% off and the deepest cut of the 12.
- Breeze liquid detergent 3.6kg was RM18.99 against RM29.90, a RM10.91 saving and the largest in ringgit.
- Limau Bali Super Import white rice 10kg was RM27.90 against RM34.50.
- Across all 12 items the basket came to RM197.21 against RM243.59 at normal prices, about 19% off.
When the next supermarket promotion goes up, a cut of 20% or more on household staples beats the Food Fiesta.
Getting there
GAMA is at Wisma GAMA, No. 1 Jalan Dato Keramat, 10150 George Town, on Magazine Circus a short walk from Komtar. There is basement parking, and Rapid Penang buses run along Jalan Dato Keramat. The supermarket is on the Ground Floor and the Deepavali Fair on the 7th. GAMA's Facebook page lists the store phone as 04-226 2111. GAMA's web shop was unreachable in September, so check GAMA's Instagram or Facebook page for the next campaign.
