> Quick view: on 6 October 2026 Gurney Plaza has no mall-wide promotion. Every offer we listed at the end of September has ended: MUJI in store (4 October), the Lokal Unboxing RM50 draw (30 September) and the Mid-Autumn gift ladder (20 September). New this week is a La Prairie counter on the Ground Floor. Still paying: the Toys"R"Us Star Card RM20 welcome voucher and TouristPLUS+ for passport holders. Deepavali is 8 November, so the next mall campaign is likely in mid to late October.

What we checked, and what we found

On 6 October 2026 we re-read Gurney Plaza's What's New page and news feed, plus the feeds of the CapitaLand sister malls that share the same CapitaPlus programme. Since 25 September the mall has posted exactly one item: La Prairie at Gurney Plaza (5 October). East Coast Mall's last post is from 11 September, and none of the sites shows an October CapitaPlus spend-and-redeem. The homepage's CapitaPlus banner is a generic "join now" sign-up, not a campaign.

So this is a quiet stretch between Mid-Autumn and Deepavali. Anything worth doing now comes from individual tenants and the two standing mechanics below.

La Prairie: new counter, unpublished privileges

La Prairie, the Swiss luxury skincare house, opened a beauty space at Lot 170-G-K13A, Ground Floor. The mall's post offers personalised consultations and skin "rituals" and says visitors can "enjoy exclusive opening privileges". Neither the post nor the poster names a gift, a spend threshold or an end date. This is a premium brand where a single Skin Caviar jar runs to four figures, so ask exactly what the opening privilege is before you commit. Do not walk in expecting a printed discount.

Toys"R"Us: the Star Card is the lever now

Toys"R"Us reopened with a refreshed look on 25 September at 3rd Floor, Main Wing, Lot 03-01/63. The relaunch-day RM10 voucher and mystery gift (each on a RM100 spend) were for that day only. What carries on is the Star Card: sign up and get an RM20 welcome voucher, then earn 1 Star Point per RM1, with 400 points = RM10 Star Cash.

Worked example: a first visit with a RM120 LEGO set, sign-up voucher applied, costs RM100, and the RM120 spend earns 120 points (30% of the way to RM10). After that, rewards drop to the standing 2.5%. That means the welcome voucher is worth eight times what a typical first basket earns in points. Sign up in the app before you pay.

TouristPLUS+ for foreign visitors

Foreign passport holders can register at the Information Counter, Ground Floor Extension Wing. RM500 in receipts redeems an Oriental Kopi White Coffee. RM1,200 redeems a Royal Selangor Heritage Collection coaster. The rules: one redemption per shopper per day, up to two same-day receipts, while stocks last. Unlike the seasonal ladders, this one resets daily and has no end date.

MUJI: online only this week

MUJI's in-store Limited Time Offer at Gurney Plaza (up to 20% off) ended on 4 October. MUJI Malaysia's current markdown is an Online Limited Time Offer, 10% off, 6 to 12 October 2026, on selected T-shirts, linen shirts, double-gauze pajamas, towels and household lines. Delivery is free on RM150 in one transaction from 6 to 13 October. A RM39 jersey crew-neck T-shirt comes to RM35.10, and a RM169 washed linen shirt to RM152.10. The store is not promised the same price, so if you are near Gurney Drive anyway, check the shelf tag. Otherwise order online.

Who should go now, and who should wait

  • Go now if you are a first-time Toys"R"Us buyer (RM20 off with the free Star Card) or a foreign visitor clearing RM500 in a day.
  • Ask, then decide at La Prairie; the opening privilege is real but unpublished.
  • Wait if you want a mall-wide gift-with-spend. Gurney Plaza announced its Mid-Autumn ladder one day before it began, so watch What's New from mid-October for the Deepavali campaign rather than shopping ahead of it.

  • Lokal Unboxing Top Spender: RM50 single receipt as a CapitaPlus member, 10 SK Jewellery blind box sets, 1 August to 30 September 2026.
  • Mid-Autumn: Reunion Mooncake Fair 4 to 20 September on the Ground Floor Extension Wing, four-tier gift ladder from RM200 (Lavender Bakery cookies) to RM450 (The Ordinary serum), one redemption per shopper. Greentopia market to 27 September.
  • CapitaPlus Malaysia Day pouch: RM200, 28 August to 16 September 2026, all seven CapitaLand malls.

Getting there and parking

Gurney Plaza is on the Gurney Drive promenade, about 3km north-west of George Town. Rapid Penang routes 102, 103 and 304 stop at the mall. The Customer Service Counter on the Ground Floor is open 10am to 10pm daily. Parking has three rate cards:

  • Basement: RM2 per hour every day.
  • Multi Level: RM2 for the first two hours, then RM1 an hour on weekdays. On weekends and public holidays it is RM4 for the first two hours, then RM1 an hour.
  • VIP: RM5 for the first hour, then RM3 an hour.

For a three-hour weekday visit that is RM6 in the basement, RM3 multi-level and RM11 VIP, so park multi-level.
