> Quick view: Gurney Plaza's Mid-Autumn campaign attaches four different gifts to four different spend levels, and the thresholds fall as the month goes on: RM450 from 4 September, RM400 from 5 September, RM300 from 11 September, RM200 from 16 September. The fine print on the mall's own artwork limits you to one (01) redemption per shopper, so those four rows are a menu, not a staircase you climb. The Reunion Mooncake Fair itself runs 4 to 20 September 2026 on the Ground Floor Extension Wing, which closes five days before the festival.

What Gurney Plaza is actually running

Gurney Plaza published "A Moonlit Reunion Mid-Autumn" on its own website on 3 September 2026. The post carries no body text at all: everything lives in two pieces of campaign artwork, and only the taller LED version prints the mechanics. We pulled both at full resolution and read them by eye.

The centrepiece is the Reunion Mooncake Fair, running 4 to 20 September 2026 on the Ground Floor of the Extension Wing. Wrapped around it are three alfresco markets, two brand meet-and-greets on the same afternoon, and a lantern night. What turns the whole thing into a deal rather than an event listing is the spend-and-redeem ladder the mall has bolted on.

The four gifts, and the one line that decides everything

Four gifts, four thresholds, four opening dates, all redeemed at the Information Counter:

  • The Ordinary Soothing Barrier and Support Serum, from 4 September 2026, spend RM450 and above
  • Flourlab mooncake, from 5 September 2026, spend RM400 and above. The artwork shows the mooncake embossed with the Gurney Plaza name, so this is a co-branded piece rather than something off Flourlab's regular shelf
  • Shantea Dessert Refreshing Guava Lime Breeze, from 11 September 2026, spend RM300 and above
  • Lavender Bakery Mid-Autumn Butter Cookie, from 16 September 2026, spend RM200 and above

Underneath all four sits a single line of small print, reproduced here exactly as the mall printed it: "*For CapitaPlus Members only. *Maximum two (02) combined same-day receipts. *Limited to one (01) redemption per shopper. *Terms and conditions apply. While stocks last."

Read the third clause again. One redemption per shopper. Not one per tier, not one per gift, not one per visit, not one per day. A RM450 receipt earns you exactly as many Mid-Autumn gifts as a RM200 receipt does. The higher tiers do not get you more; they only get you a different item.

The entry price falls by more than half, so waiting is the cheaper play

Because the tiers open on staggered dates and every one of them ends with the same single redemption, the shape of this campaign is unusual: the longer you wait, the less you have to spend. On 4 September the only way in was RM450. Today, 5 September, it is RM400. On 11 September it drops to RM300, and on 16 September it drops again to RM200.

If you have no strong preference between a skincare serum, a co-branded mooncake, a cup of guava lime tea and a box of butter cookies, the arithmetic is blunt: waiting eleven days from today saves you RM200 of required spend for the same single gift. The only reasons to go early are that you specifically want the serum or the mooncake, or that you are worried about the "while stocks last" clause, which is real and which the mall has not quantified.

Four worked examples

You spend RM250 this weekend. You get nothing from the Mid-Autumn ladder, because the lowest tier open right now is RM400. You do clear the separate CapitaPlus Malaysia Day threshold of RM200, so the handcrafted pouch is the only gift a RM250 shopper can currently claim.

You spend RM250 on 16 September. Now the Lavender Bakery cookie tier is open at RM200 and the Malaysia Day pouch is on its final day, also at RM200. Both are theoretically within reach on one shopping trip.

You spend RM450 before 16 September. You take the serum from the Information Counter, and separately, because it is a different campaign redeemed through the CapitaPlus app rather than at the counter, you have also cleared the RM200 pouch threshold. That is the one route to two gifts, and it costs you RM450.

You spend RM250 on Saturday and RM150 on Sunday. You get nothing from the Mid-Autumn ladder despite a RM400 total, because the receipts must be from the same day. This is the rule that catches people out most often, and it is worth planning around: if you are two shops short of a threshold, finish today rather than coming back tomorrow.

16 September is the one date that matters

Malaysia Day is the hinge of this whole month at Gurney Plaza. The CapitaPlus Malaysia Day Special (spend RM200 in a maximum of two receipts, upload them in the app, redeem a handcrafted Nasi Lemak or Nyonya Dumpling pouch) runs 28 August to 16 September 2026 across all seven CapitaLand malls in Malaysia. The RM200 Mid-Autumn tier opens on 16 September. That single Wednesday is the only day both RM200 mechanics are live at once.

Two cautions. First, whether one same-day receipt can be counted towards both has not been published by CapitaLand anywhere we could find, so ask at the counter before you commit. Second, 16 September is a public holiday, the mall will be busy, and "while stocks last" bites hardest on the day a redemption opens and another one closes.

Worth flagging as a fine-print inconsistency: the campaign artwork for the pouch, as run at East Coast Mall, prints only "From 28 August 2026 onwards, while stocks last" with no end date at all. The end date of 16 September appears in the malls' own written captions, not on the poster. Go by the caption.

The counter closes at 10pm, and that is the real daily deadline

Every Mid-Autumn gift is handed over in person, so the counter's hours, not the fair's, are what you have to plan around. Gurney Plaza's own Contact Us page lists its Customer Service Counter on the Ground Floor as open 10am to 10pm daily. The campaign artwork names the redemption point as the Information Counter, which the mall's Tourist Experience page places on the Ground Floor, Extension Wing — the same floor as the fair.

Neither the artwork nor the website gives the Reunion Mooncake Fair separate opening hours, so the fair keeps mall hours and the redemption window is the counter's. Two practical consequences: a late-evening shopping run can clear a threshold and still leave you unable to redeem, and on 16 September, when the RM200 tier opens on a public holiday, "while stocks last" and a 10pm cut-off are working against you at the same time. Go early that day.

The other things worth knowing before you go

Lokal Unboxing Top Spender Rewards runs 1 August to 30 September. Spend RM50 in a single receipt at Gurney Plaza as a CapitaPlus member and you go into a draw to be one of ten Top Spenders winning an SK Jewellery Shiok Delights Blind Box Set. This is the only mechanic at the mall with a genuinely low entry point, but it is a draw, not a guaranteed gift, so treat it as a free lottery ticket on spending you were doing anyway.

TouristPLUS+ is worth knowing about if you are reading this from outside Malaysia. Register with your passport at the Ground Floor Extension Wing Information Counter and you can redeem an Oriental Kopi White Coffee at RM500 and above, or a Royal Selangor Heritage Collection Coaster at RM1,200 and above. Note the difference in wording from the Mid-Autumn campaign: the tourist track says "limited to one redemption per shopper per day", so it resets daily. The Mid-Autumn one does not reset at all.

Getting there, and the parking rate nobody checks

Gurney Plaza sits on the Gurney Drive promenade, about three kilometres north-west of George Town's city centre. Rapid Penang routes 102, 103 and 304 stop at the mall.

If you drive, the mall publishes three separate rate cards and most people default to the wrong one. The Basement car park charges RM2.00 for the first hour and RM2.00 for every subsequent hour, seven days a week. The Multi Level car park charges RM2.00 for the first two hours and RM1.00 for each subsequent hour on weekdays, or RM4.00 for the first two hours and RM1.00 after that on weekends and public holidays. VIP Parking is the third card, at RM5.00 for the first hour and RM3.00 for every hour after that, daily. For a four-hour Mid-Autumn browse on a weekday that is RM8.00 in the basement, RM4.00 in the multi-storey and RM14.00 in VIP. The multi-level card is cheaper or equal to the basement at every duration, and the gap widens the longer you stay.

While you are down there: the mall lists four Tesla Superchargers at the Basement 1 car park, three DC Handel chargers on the 6th floor of the multi-storey and one ChargEV point on the 5th, so an EV can charge through a long fair visit.

Who should skip this

If your natural spend at Gurney Plaza is under RM200, none of the gift tiers apply to you and the only thing on the table is the Lokal Unboxing draw at RM50. Do not manufacture a RM200 basket for a butter cookie whose retail value the mall has never published. That is the honest limit of this campaign: because Gurney Plaza publishes no value for any of the four gifts, there is no discount percentage to calculate here, only a threshold to clear on spending you were doing anyway.

One last date: the fair closes before the festival

Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 falls on Friday, 25 September. The Reunion Mooncake Fair closes on 20 September, five days earlier. If you are buying mooncakes as gifts rather than for the night itself, the fair's last weekend is 19 and 20 September, and that is also the weekend of the lantern night on the 19th. Leaving it to the week of the festival means the fair stalls will already have packed up.
