What the actual prices look like

Harvey Norman publishes per-item pricing on its own "Merdeka Top 50 Super Deals" and "Factory Direct Merdeka Sale" listing pages, so the headline percentage can be checked directly. Checked on 11 August 2026, the Factory Direct page listed 74 products, and across the Top 50 items showing a struck-through "was" price, real markdowns ranged from about 5% to 69% off — no item on either published list actually hit the 80% ceiling. Verified examples:

  • Tefal X-PERT 7.60 Stick Vacuum (TY6A35HO): RM438, was RM1,399 — 69% off, the deepest cut on the list
  • Dekkon Counter Height 1 + 4 Dining Set (Wenge): RM1,993, was RM4,800 — 58% off
  • Philips PerfectCare Steam Generator Iron (GC7846/86): RM535, was RM1,039 — 49% off
  • Sony BRAVIA 7 II 75-inch 4K Google TV (K75XR70M2): RM12,997, was RM15,999 — save RM3,002, the biggest absolute saving
  • Samsung 65-inch Crystal UHD U8500H (UA65U8500H): RM2,697, was RM3,799 — save RM1,102

Two things worth noting: the deepest cuts sit on small appliances and furniture rather than the headline TVs and laptops (big-ticket electronics mostly ran 5–29% off), and the Dekkon dining set at 58% off is already past the "up to 50% off furniture" figure the campaign advertises — so the published furniture ceiling is conservative, not the electronics one.

  • This isn't a one-off Merdeka exclusive: Harvey Norman has run the same "Factory Outlet" carpark/warehouse sale format at these same three locations repeatedly through 2026 — a 4-day carpark sale in February, a mid-year warehouse sale in June, and a "Top Brands Mega Warehouse Sale" in July — so it reads as their standing flash-sale cadence rather than a Merdeka-specific one-off
