Is the Harvey Norman Malaysia Day Mega Sale still on?

No. The campaign's own terms put it at 3 to 16 September 2026, and on 17 September it was no longer listed on Harvey Norman's catalogues-and-promotions index. That index is where every live Harvey Norman campaign appears. The old landing page still loads, but that does not make its prices valid.

Four things replaced it, each with a different end date:

  • No Gimmicks, Just the Best Prices: 17 September to 1 October 2026. This is the new nationwide sale.
  • Electrical Appliances & Home Entertainment Festival: 4 to 30 September 2026. It carries the RM9,000 gift card.
  • Bedding Storewide and Better Furniture, Better Living: 3 to 30 September 2026. The bedding and furniture discounts sit here.
  • Top Brands Mega Clearance: 3 to 30 September 2026, for delivery and self-pickup at three outlets only.

No Gimmicks, Just the Best Prices (17 September to 1 October)

Harvey Norman's own campaign panels set a separate ceiling for each department:

  • Smartphones and tablets: up to 70% off
  • Kitchen appliances: up to 68% off
  • Laptops and computing: up to 38% off
  • Air purifiers: up to 33% off
  • Home Rewards on selected big appliances: up to RM6,000 instant rebate and up to RM2,000 Touch 'n Go eWallet credit
  • Bedding: a guaranteed 40% off, then an extra 20% off from RM5,000 or an extra 30% off from RM10,000
  • Furniture: an extra 6% off from RM3,000 or 9% off from RM6,000, plus an extra 15% on a coffee table, buffet cabinet or console table bought with a sofa or dining table
  • Homeware: up to 50% off, plus an extra 9% when you buy two or more selected items in one transaction

Around the discounts, the sale offers free delivery from RM100, 0% instalment plans up to 36 months, and Buy Now Pay Later up to 12 months. Newsletter sign-ups get a RM20 e-voucher. The "Chat for Best Deals" live chat runs 10:30am to 7pm, and PayLater by Grab gives new users up to RM35 off.

What changed from Malaysia Day: the bedding, furniture and homeware rules are the same as before. Home Rewards has lost the 5% instant cashback the Malaysia Day sale offered. The new terms list only instant rebates and Touch 'n Go credit.

The RM9,000 gift card is still running, to 30 September

The gift card did not end on 16 September. It now belongs to the Electrical Appliances & Home Entertainment Festival (4 to 30 September). That campaign advertises up to 63% off selected TVs, fridges, washing machines and soundbars. Its gift card terms, re-read on 17 September, set the campaign period at 4 to 30 September 2026. Four clauses matter:

  • No single card is worth more than RM1,000. A bigger reward comes as several cards.
  • You can use at most five cards in one transaction.
  • Each card is valid for 30 days from activation. Unused balance is forfeited.
  • Online orders ship with an inactive card. You register it yourself, and Harvey Norman aims to activate it within seven working days. Every card must be registered by 30 November 2026.

In-store buyers get an active card as soon as the purchase is fully paid. Redeeming an activated card has no minimum spend.

Worked examples from 17 September listings

  • Sony BRAVIA 7 II 75-inch (K75XR70M2): RM11,997, was RM15,999. It carries a RM400 gift card from the festival. It also gets RM1,000 Touch 'n Go credit under Sony's Merdeka Special Promo, which runs to 4 October with redemption to 18 October. Use both and the TV effectively costs RM10,597. That is the same shelf price as on 3 September, but the rewards add up to RM1,400.
  • Samsung 75-inch Crystal UHD U8500H: RM3,697, was RM5,299, with a RM100 gift card.
  • Samsung 65-inch Crystal UHD U8500H: still RM2,697, the same as during the Merdeka Sale in August. It now carries a RM50 gift card and an RM200 instant rebate tag. Ask at the till whether RM2,697 already includes that rebate.

What the No Gimmicks prices actually look like

We read every product on the campaign's own "all deals" listing on 17 September 2026. It holds 4,373 products, and 4,338 of them show a was-price.

  • Median real markdown: 25.3%. One product in ten is cut by less than 7.5%, and one in ten by more than 54.1%.
  • 216 products are less than 5% off. The shallowest is an Apple Watch Series 10 (46mm) at RM1,939, down from RM1,949, which saves RM10.
  • 168 products are more than 70% off, and 12 pass 80%. They are almost all accessories and homeware. The deepest is a SmartWorld ring holder at RM7, down from RM46. The only big-ticket item above 80% is a Tineco Floor One i7 Fold wet-dry vacuum at RM1,498, down from RM7,999.

Depth depends on the department:

  • Homeware: 53.7% median (471 products)
  • Furniture: 50% (206)
  • Bed frames and mattresses: 40% (427)
  • Home appliances: 23.9% (1,307)
  • TV and audio: 17.5% (700)
  • Computing: 15.6% (509)
  • Smart tech and phones: 14.3% (530)

The "up to 70% off" on phones is real only for accessories. The featured phones are cut far less. The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max 1TB is RM7,399, down from RM7,999 (7.5%). The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra 512GB is RM8,499, down from RM8,899 (4.5%), and the Honor Magic V6 1TB is RM8,197, down from RM8,899 (7.9%). The featured big-screen TV does better: the LG 75-inch QNED92 is RM8,997, down from RM13,699 (34.3%).

Stacking the bedding and homeware extras

  • Sealy Spectacular queen mattress: RM22,789, down from RM37,979. That price already includes the guaranteed 40%. It clears the RM10,000 minimum on one receipt, so the extra 30% would bring it to about RM15,952. Confirm at the till that the extra percentage applies to the sale price.
  • Two homeware pieces: The Real House print (RM329) and a large Bahamas planter (RM339) come to RM668. The extra 9% for two items takes that to about RM608.
  • Furniture: a RM6,000 basket saves an extra RM540 at 9%. New arrivals, special deals and clearance items are excluded.

Still running elsewhere in September

  • Top Brands Mega Clearance (to 30 September): advertised as up to 80% off, but only for delivery or self-pickup at Citta Mall (PJ), Ampang Point (Ampang) and Paradigm Mall JB. When we read all 76 priced items on 3 September, the real cuts ran from 1% to 70%. On 17 September, the Philips DLP2207V/12 dual USB charger was still RM47 (was RM155), the Elba EGH-S8642G gas hob RM547 (was RM1,299) and the Philips NA120/09 airfryer RM299 (was RM309).
  • Coalfields Retail Park soft opening, Sungai Buloh (to 23 September): a store-only opening sale.
  • Samsung 2026 Merdeka Celebration (to 30 September): Touch 'n Go credit on selected Samsung models, redeemable to 15 October.
  • Sony Merdeka Special Promo (to 4 October): Touch 'n Go credit on selected BRAVIA TVs and soundbars, redeemable to 18 October.

Harvey Norman's store finder lists 40 stores across Malaysia, not counting its Menara Harvey Norman head office.

The record: Malaysia Day Mega Sale (3 to 16 September)

  • Advertised up to 70% off across 4,410 products, in every store and online
  • Offered a free gift card worth up to RM9,000 on home appliances, stacked with Home Rewards: 5% instant cashback, up to RM6,000 rebate and up to RM2,000 Touch 'n Go credit
  • Other gift card ceilings were up to RM250 on small appliances and up to RM1,500 on Fujitec massage chairs and Italian sofas. Musterring or Van Vorst mattresses got RM200, and selected laptops got RM50 per RM1,500 spent.
  • It replaced the Merdeka Super Sale, which ended on 2 September

Who should buy now, and who can wait

  • Buy before 30 September if you want a big TV, fridge or washer. That is when the gift card ends, and neither the No Gimmicks page nor its terms mentions a gift card.
  • No rush on bedding, furniture or homeware. The same guaranteed-40% bedding rule and the 6%/9% furniture tiers ran under Malaysia Day and continue under No Gimmicks. The deal has not got better or worse.
  • Shop around on phones. A 4.5% to 8% cut on a flagship is ordinary. Harvey Norman is already taking register-interest sign-ups for the iPhone 18.
  • Skip the clearance prices if you cannot collect from, or get delivery through, Citta Mall, Ampang Point or Paradigm Mall JB.

Fine print

  • The No Gimmicks sale runs to 1 October, the gift card festival, bedding, furniture and clearance campaigns to 30 September, and the Coalfields opening sale to 23 September
  • "Up to" figures are ceilings on selected models. Recompute the saving from the was-price yourself.
  • Bedding extras need at least one mattress on a single receipt. Receipts cannot be combined.
  • Gift cards cannot be transferred, refunded or exchanged for cash
  • Prices, product counts, dates and terms were read on 17 September 2026 from Harvey Norman Malaysia's own campaign pages, campaign panels, terms pages and product listings

Tips

  • Treat a gift card as money you must spend at Harvey Norman within 30 days. If you have no second purchase planned, a straight discount elsewhere may be worth more.
  • Buying in store gets you an active card straight away. Online, allow up to seven working days after you register.
  • Use the 10:30am to 7pm live chat to ask for a better price before you check out
  • Check the tags on a product's listing, not just the sale banner. One TV can carry a gift card, an instant rebate and a brand's own Touch 'n Go credit, each with its own end date.
