> Quick view: The Merdeka Room Promotion is over. Hatten Hotel Melaka's own booking engine no longer carries the 69% flash rate on any date, including 31 August itself. What survives is School's Out, a family staycation that runs to a final check-in on Wednesday 16 September 2026 and prices a Deluxe Suite at RM228 nett Sunday to Thursday, RM248 on Fridays and Saturdays, with buffet breakfast for two adults and two children for RM60 more. Underneath it sits a rate the deals page never mentions: a Sunday-to-Thursday Room Only Special Deal that puts a Studio Suite Twin at RM200 and a Junior Suite at RM230.
Where this stands today
We first read this offer on 26 August 2026, when the Merdeka Room Promotion was loaded into Hatten's booking engine at RM124 for a Premier Junior Suite and RM139.50 for a Premier Deluxe Suite, both 69% off the rate beside them. Re-reading the same engine on 31 August 2026, the flash rate plan is no longer there.
Search a one-night stay for two adults checking in on 31 August and the Premier Junior Suite offers exactly two rate plans: Room Only at RM440 and Best Available Rate at RM480. The Premier Deluxe Suite shows RM490 and RM530. There is no Merdeka Room Promotion row, no RM124, no RM139.50, and no struck-through RM400 or RM450 either. The suites were described as limited, and they have either sold out or been withdrawn.
The offer page at hattenhotel.com/merdeka-flash-deal is still published and still says 69% off for check-ins on 31 August 2026, so treat the page as marketing that has outlived its inventory. The rate you can actually buy is the one the engine will sell you.
Worth noting what those Merdeka-night rates look like without the discount: RM440 for a Premier Junior Suite against RM400 on an ordinary September night, and RM490 against RM450 for the Premier Deluxe. Merdeka night is surcharged across the board, which is exactly why the flash rate was interesting and exactly why it went.
School's Out: what a night really costs
This is the offer that still has runway. The page at hattenhotel.com/schools-out-family-staycation states it plainly: from RM228 nett in a Deluxe Room, add family breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children for RM60, valid from 28 August until 16 September 2026. The campaign poster carries the same dates and one extra line, cashless payment only.
The engine splits it into two rate plans, Family Staycation - School's Out Room Only and the same with breakfast, and it is not a flat rate:
- Sunday to Thursday: RM228 room-only, RM288 with breakfast
- Friday and Saturday: RM248 room-only, RM318 with breakfast
We checked this across four separate date grids. Friday 4, Saturday 5, Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September all price at RM248 and RM318. Every Sunday through Thursday in between sits at RM228 and RM288. So the weekend surcharge is a standing rule of the offer, not the one-off 4 to 5 September event it looks like if you only search a single week.
The struck-through comparison rate moves too. Most nights it reads RM350, which is the genuine standard Room Only rate for a Deluxe Suite. On Saturday 5 September it reads RM370, and on Saturday 12 September RM410, because the hotel's own standard rates rise on those Saturdays. So the advertised saving of RM122 holds on ordinary nights and is larger on peak ones.
The window is enforced on the check-in date. Searching a 13 September check-in, School's Out appears in the Sunday 13, Monday 14, Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 September columns and then vanishes: Thursday 17 September is blank on both rate plans while every standard rate is still on sale. Wednesday 16 September is Malaysia Day, it is the last night the offer covers, and it prices at the base RM228 with no holiday surcharge.
The RM200 rate the deals page never mentions
Hatten's Special Deals page lists eleven offers. This is not one of them. Search any Sunday-to-Thursday night in September and two extra rate plans appear on the two cheapest room categories:
- Studio Suite Twin: Room Only Special Deal RM200, and Special Rate with Breakfast RM230
- Junior Suite: Room Only Special Deal RM230, and Special Rate with Breakfast RM260
Against the standard Room Only rates of RM290 and RM320 for those categories, that is RM90 off either room, and the breakfast versions include buffet breakfast for two people for RM30 more.
The pattern is strict. On every Friday and Saturday we searched, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 September, those two rate plans are simply blank while the standard rates carry on. They are a Sunday-to-Thursday product. They also outlive School's Out: on Thursday 17 September, with the family offer gone, the Studio Suite Twin is still RM200 and the Junior Suite still RM230.
Two consequences worth acting on. First, if you are a couple with no need for a family breakfast, RM200 for a Studio Suite Twin is RM28 less than the School's Out Deluxe Suite, and RM230 with breakfast for two is RM58 less than RM288. Second, if you want a Junior Suite, the RM230 Special Deal sits RM2 above the School's Out Deluxe Suite, which is a lower price than the room category would normally suggest but a smaller room than School's Out gives you for the same money. On Sunday to Thursday, School's Out remains the better buy for anyone travelling with children.
The only rate that ignores the weekend
Hatten's E-Sports rooms price identically seven nights a week, which makes them the one thing on the property that does not get more expensive on a Saturday:
- E-Sports Escape: RM399, shown against RM999. The offer page describes it as 2D1N in Elite E-Sports Rooms for 5 persons, room-only.
- Family Play-cation: RM555, shown against RM1,288. Same rooms, up to 5 persons, and it includes breakfast plus E-Sports in-room dining worth RM100.
Both held at RM399 and RM555 on every date we searched, including Friday 4, Saturday 5, Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 September. Divided across five people, E-Sports Escape works out at RM79.80 a head, and Family Play-cation at RM111 with breakfast and RM100 of food included. The rooms carry professional gaming PCs for five, a 1GB connection and ambient lighting, and the hotel also sells gaming time on its own at RM39 for two hours on a buy-one-free-one basis, through esports@hattenhotel.com or WhatsApp 017-3283096.
If your school-holiday group is teenagers rather than toddlers, this is the offer that scales and the one that survives a weekend booking.
The rest of what is live
Three more rate plans show up in the engine and are worth knowing about:
- 24 Hour Flexi Stay Package, Deluxe Suite with breakfast, RM323 against RM390. Monday to Thursday only in the dates we searched, blank on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It buys a full 24 hours from whenever you check in.
- Medical Room Package, the Check-In and Check-Up offer, a Junior Suite with breakfast next door to Mahkota Medical Centre, at RM360 a night with a two-night minimum.
- Mid-Week Business Package, Deluxe Suite with breakfast. The offer page advertises RM788 for a three-night stay with daily breakfast for two, daily laundry up to five pieces per two days and a 6pm late check-out. The engine prices the same plan at RM390 a night with a three-night minimum on the dates we checked, which comes to RM1,170 rather than RM788. The two figures do not reconcile, so call 06-2869696 and get the package quoted before you assume the lower one.
Who this suits, who should skip
Good for: families staying Sunday to Thursday inside the window. RM288 for a Deluxe Suite with buffet breakfast for two adults and two children, in Bandar Hilir within walking distance of Jonker Street and the Stadthuys, is a strong number for a school-holiday night. Also good for couples who only need a bed, because the unlisted RM200 Studio Suite Twin undercuts everything else on the same nights, and for groups of five who want the E-Sports rooms and cannot avoid a weekend.
Skip it if: your dates are a Friday or Saturday and you were counting on RM228. The offer becomes RM248, the RM200 and RM230 special rates disappear entirely, and the hotel's own standard rates rise as much as RM60 on the Saturdays we checked, so the weekend is the worst value on offer. Skip it too if you need to be able to cancel: the standard Room Only and Best Available Rate plans display a free-cancellation label on dates further out, and School's Out and the Special Deal rows never do.
Worked examples
A couple, one weeknight, no children. Book the Studio Suite Twin Room Only Special Deal at RM200, or RM230 with breakfast for two. Against the RM290 standard Room Only rate you keep RM90, and against booking School's Out at RM228 you keep RM28 for a room you do not need the extra space in.
Family of four, three nights, Sunday 13 to Wednesday 16 September. School's Out with breakfast at RM288 a night is RM864, with buffet breakfast for two adults and two children every morning, and Wednesday 16 September is Malaysia Day at no extra charge. The same three nights on the standard Best Available Rate would be RM390 each, or RM1,170, so the offer keeps RM306.
Family of four, a weekend, Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September. Two nights at the surcharged RM318 with breakfast is RM636, against RM576 for two mid-week nights at RM288. That RM60 gap is the entire cost of shifting a flexible trip off the weekend, and it is worth doing.
Five teenagers, Saturday 12 September. E-Sports Escape at RM399 for the room, RM79.80 each. On that same Saturday the School's Out Deluxe Suite is RM248 and the RM200 special rate is not sold at all, so the E-Sports room is the only rate at Hatten that has not moved.
Fine print that trips people up
- Cashless payment only. The School's Out poster carries the line. Bring a card.
- The Merdeka flash rate is gone from the engine, on every date including 31 August. The offer page is still up; the rate is not.
- School's Out is not RM228 every night. Fridays and Saturdays are RM248 room-only and RM318 with breakfast.
- Last School's Out check-in is Wednesday 16 September. Thursday 17 September is blank on both School's Out plans.
- The RM200 and RM230 special rates are Sunday to Thursday only. They vanish on every Friday and Saturday and are not advertised anywhere on the website.
- No free-cancellation label on the offer rates. The standard Room Only and Best Available Rate plans show one on dates further out; School's Out, the Special Deal rows and the packages do not. Ask before you pay.
- Every rate quoted here includes all taxes and fees, and each one lists Wi-Fi, use of the gym on Level 12, pool access, pre-arrival online registration and dedicated check-in at the Level 12 Premier Lounge.
- Parking is cheap but not free. Validate your card at the concierge or front desk for a 24-hour rate of RM5 per vehicle, validated once for multiple entries within that period.
- Book direct. Both offer pages point to hattenhotel.com or 06-2869696, and every figure above is what the hotel's own engine at hattenhotel.reserve-online.net displays.
If you are eating in Melaka anyway
Hatten still runs its Satay Celup Buffet on Fridays and Saturdays, 6pm to 9.30pm, at RM68 per adult, RM48 per senior citizen and RM28 per child, running since 1 May 2026. Reservations go through +606 221 9448 or WhatsApp +6012 969 7295. Satay celup is Melaka's own dish and the town does it better on the street, so treat this as convenience rather than pilgrimage.
