Johor Bahru has more massage shops per street than most Malaysian cities, and a large share of their customers drive or ride across the Causeway from Singapore. That shapes the market in two ways. Many places stay open long after midnight, and many quote prices that look cheap in Singapore dollars but sit in the middle of the Malaysian range. We read six venues' own menus on 25 October 2026 to see what an hour actually costs.

The spread is wide. An hour of foot reflexology costs RM79 at the two cheapest places below and RM240 at the hotel spa. A full-body hour starts at RM99 for an aromatherapy massage at Lawa Lawa Spa and reaches RM260 at Amari's Breeze Spa. For comparison, the KL chains and hotel spas in our Klang Valley price guide started at RM111 for a full-body hour, and the cheapest Kuching hour in our Kuching guide was RM48.

How to choose a massage place in JB

Decide between foot and body first. Foot reflexology is done fully clothed in a reclining chair and usually takes in the calves, with a few minutes on the shoulders at some places. A body massage needs a private room, and an oil massage (aromatherapy, Balinese, Malay urut) costs more than a dry Thai massage of the same length.

Check whether 8% SST is added. Siam Oasis, Thai Odyssey and Eminent all print that their prices exclude 8% SST, so a RM98 hour costs RM105.84 at the counter. Amari's Breeze Spa menu is nett, and Lawa Lawa's booking page does not say either way.

Read the outlet list on any promo. Both mall chains run October promos, but each applies only at named outlets. Thai Odyssey's Buy 3 Free 1 is valid only at its Holiday Villa branch, and its Buy 5 Free 2 only at Pelangi Avenue.

Plan around the Causeway. If you are coming from Singapore, the places near JB Sentral and Jalan Wong Ah Fook (Lawa Lawa's new Zenith branch, Siam Oasis at JB City Square, Breeze Spa at Amari) save a drive across town. Thai Odyssey lists its own JB City Square outlet as temporarily closed for maintenance, so do not head there.

Ask about member rates. Eminent and Natural Asia Health both run member prices that are much lower than walk-in rates, but neither publishes what membership costs.

Where we looked

We read each venue's own website, booking page or newest Facebook post on 25 October 2026. Prices are per person in ringgit. We left out places that publish no prices on a channel they control, including several Taman Pelangi spas whose prices appear only on blogs, and we could not find a currently operating blind massage centre in JB to verify.

How to pick

For the lowest price on a booked, rated spa, Lawa Lawa's RM79 hour of reflexology and RM99 aromatherapy hour are the best value we found, and it is open until 3am. For a familiar mall chain with every price online, Siam Oasis is a little cheaper than Thai Odyssey, and its weekday 15% discount runs to 31 October. For a late night with a sauna and jacuzzi included, Natural Asia Health is the only 24-hour option, but confirm the walk-in price first. For a treat near the checkpoint, Breeze Spa costs more than double but the price is nett.
