KSL City Mall in JB town packs in two separate kids' attractions. Funtopia, on Level 1, is an indoor playground with slides, a trampoline, a carousel and a dress-up costume corner, open 10am to 10pm. An open-air retail park in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri (near LEGOLAND) built on a minimalist warehouse concept — 24 acres, over 100 shops across two floors and 2,000 parking bays — and set up with young families in mind: a ground-floor kids' playground, baby-changing and nursing rooms, and two dedicated attractions. EnerG X Park is an indoor extreme-sports park with more than five zones of trampolines, climbing walls, skate ramps and obstacle courses for kids and adults. GSC Play Park, on Level 1, is billed as Malaysia's first cinema built for kids: eight halls plus the Popcorn Tower Slide, its own playground, nursery rooms and kids' washrooms. A BookXcess outlet on site also has a shoes-off children's reading nook. The shaded walkways make it a rare mall-scale option you can still use in the rain.

At 71 Jalan Austin Heights 8/1 in Taman Mount Austin, this is really four parks on one ticketed site. The Water Park has slides and splash pools including a wave pool and the Supersurf attraction; the Adventure Park is built around what the operator advertises as the longest indoor suspension rope course in Malaysia, spanning 7 course routes and 51 obstacle types; the Sports & Leisure Park adds an ice-skating rink, go-kart racing and a trampoline park; and the Discovery Park rounds it out. Danga Bay is JB's largest waterfront recreational stretch, and its headline addition is Danga Park, which opened on 30 May 2026 and is run by Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB). It has themed playgrounds, dry water-play zones, an elevated walkway of around 700m and giant climbable tiger- and octopus-shaped structures, plus illuminated night displays — and it's a 10-15 minute drive from the checkpoint. Per MBJB, it operates daily 7.30am to 11pm, closing temporarily from 6.30pm to 8pm, with last entry at 6pm for the day session and 10.30pm at night. Entry is free for Malaysians, who must bring MyKad or MyKid for verification at the main gate; foreign passport holders pay RM20 for adults and RM10 for children aged 5-12. Capacity is capped at 1,500 visitors at a time, so avoid peak evenings if you're bringing small children. It sits alongside the older, separately-run Danga Bay Theme Park, a free-entry amusement park with a Ferris wheel and other pay-per-ride attractions, and the area's marina and night market round out an evening visit.

With Puteri Harbour's old Hello Kitty Town and Thomas Town theme parks both permanently closed since the end of 2019, the waterfront itself is now the draw: a marina and promenade with open lawns and scenic sea views that suit strolls, picnics and playtime. Several operators, including the Brooklyn Cruise, run family-friendly boat tours from the marina — the Brooklyn's is a roughly 45-minute cruise sailing daily from around 3pm to 10pm — giving younger kids a low-key water outing without a theme-park ticket.
