Muay Thai has become one of the Klang Valley's busiest group workouts. A class is usually an hour to 75 minutes of skipping, shadowboxing, bag work and pad rounds with a coach, and most gyms now market it to complete beginners, women and kids as much as to fighters. Prices, though, are hard to compare. Some gyms sell classes in packs, some sell unlimited months, and many hide their cheapest rate inside a 12-month contract.
We read the published rate card of each gym below on 2 November 2026, on its own website or booking page. We left out gyms that only post prices in Instagram messages, and two well-known names (Monarchy MMA and Japan Boxing Club) whose sites sat behind a bot check we could not get through, so we could not read their prices.
How to choose a Muay Thai gym in KL
Start with how often you will really train. If it is once or twice a week, a class pack or a twice-weekly plan almost always beats an unlimited month. Merican sells 10 classes for RM499, and Chai Fighter's twice-a-week plan is RM149 a month. If you will go three or more times a week, unlimited starts to pay.
Read the contract line. The headline monthly prices at Sharks (RM189), FEBA (RM199), KIB (RM249) and Merican (RM399) all need a 12-month commitment. KIB charges RM400 to terminate early and Merican RM500. Month-to-month, the same gyms cost RM300, RM299, nothing published and RM599.
Look for joining and freezing fees. FEBA charges a one-off RM50 registration. Core Fight charges RM50 to freeze a membership. Ask before you pay.
Check the timetable against your day. Chai Fighter only runs weekday evening classes, Core Fight's weekday classes start at 5.30pm, and FEBA Subang has 7.30am and 8.30am sessions for people who train before work.
Budget for gear. Most gyms lend gloves for a trial, but you will want your own after a few weeks. Chai Fighter's shop lists 5-metre hand wraps at RM50 (RM35 for members) and gloves from RM129 (RM99 for members). KIB sells gloves at RM189 and wraps at RM35.
Ask about sparring. Beginners often worry about being hit. Sharks says on its site that it teaches without mandatory sparring, and Chai Fighter's FAQ says no experience is needed and gear is provided.
A worked example
Say you want to train twice a week, about nine classes a month. At Chai Fighter that is RM149 on the twice-weekly plan with no contract. At Core Fight it is RM280 for unlimited, because the 4-class pass (RM140) would not cover nine sessions. At Merican, a 10-class pack is RM499 and lasts beyond the month if you miss a session. Move to four times a week and Merican's unlimited month (RM599, or RM399 on a 12-month plan) becomes the better deal there, while Chai Fighter stays at RM168.
