What MUJI announced

MUJI Malaysia posted the promotion on its Facebook page on 1 October, saying it is celebrating its 1st Anniversary with "exclusive promotions and special gifts with purchase" at MUJI Sunway Velocity Mall and MUJI Setia City Mall from 8 to 15 October 2026. The campaign posters set out three things:

  1. A two-tier gift with purchase based on a single receipt.
  2. Anniversary prices on clothing, home and travel items, printed with the usual price (U.P.) beside them.
  3. "Food storewide, buy any 2 @ 15% off", plus 15% off three skincare and aroma ranges.

Every poster carries the same line: T&Cs apply, while stocks last, and MUJI (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. may change or withdraw the promotion without notice.

The gift with purchase, step by step

  • Tier 1, RM180 and above in a single receipt: one 2-Way Water Repellent Mini Sacoche. The colour is given out at random.
  • Tier 2, RM300 and above in a single receipt: the Mini Sacoche plus one lucky draw spin. The wheel pictured on the poster shows prizes such as MUJI vouchers and small MUJI items, but MUJI has not published a prize list or odds.

The Mini Sacoche is not a throwaway freebie. The same anniversary poster sells the 2-Way Water Repellent Sacoche / Mini Sacoche for RM29 (U.P. RM39), so the Tier 1 gift is worth about that much.

The thresholds are per receipt, so two smaller purchases on different days do not add up. Because the poster says "with purchase of RM180", the amount that counts is what you actually pay, after the anniversary prices are applied.

Worked examples

A work outfit that lands just short. The Washed Oxford Stand Collar Shirt (RM79) plus the Stretch Corduroy Pants (RM99) come to RM178, which is RM2 under Tier 1. Add a Kitchen & Bathroom Cleaning Sheet at RM7.65 and the receipt is RM185.65. At usual prices those three would cost RM237, so you save RM51.35 and walk out with a Mini Sacoche worth RM39.

A home top-up for Tier 2. Mop Bucket Set (RM109), Cotton Cool Touch Cushion (RM89) and the Interior Fragrance Oil Set (RM99) total RM297, again just short. One Mop Head Replacement (RM10) takes you to RM307. The usual-price total is RM412, a saving of RM105, plus the sacoche and a lucky draw spin.

One big item. The Highback Floor Chair alone is RM359, down from RM449. That clears Tier 2 on its own, a RM90 saving before the gift.

A snack run. Two packs of Freeze Dried Strawberry at RM11.90 each are RM23.80; with 15% off you pay about RM20.23. It will not reach a gift tier, but it is an easy add-on if you are close to RM180.

Who it suits, and who can skip it

It suits people who live or work around Cheras and Setia Alam, anyone already planning to replace basics such as T-shirts, hangers or a mop, and shoppers eyeing a bigger piece like the floor chair or dresser, where the cash saving is largest.

Skip it if your nearest MUJI is somewhere else, such as Sunway Pyramid or KL East Mall. The anniversary prices are tied to these two stores, so a special trip only makes sense if your basket is close to a gift tier. Also skip it if you only want one small item: a single RM29 T-shirt saves you a few ringgit and earns no gift.

Fine print that trips people up

  • Two stores only. Sunway Velocity Mall (Ground Floor, Lot G-63 to G-66, tel 03-2739 6178) and Setia City Mall (Upper Ground Floor, Lot UG-024 to UG-027, tel 03-3358 1096). Both open 10am to 10pm.
  • Online orders are not mentioned. MUJI's post names only the two physical stores, so do not expect these prices at muji.com.my.
  • Single receipt. Splitting your shopping into two bills can drop you below RM180 or RM300.
  • One spin per customer at Tier 2, even if your receipt is RM600.
  • Random sacoche colour and while stocks last. Gifts can run out before 15 October, so earlier in the week is safer.
  • Not every item is discounted. Only the items on the posters and the named ranges carry anniversary prices. The food offer needs two items.
  • 15 October is a Thursday. If you are planning a weekend trip, the last one is 10 to 11 October.
