> Quick view: PETRONAS wants you to spend RM15 at Kedai Mesra. It will not tell you that spending RM15 three times beats spending RM45 once, because a transaction earns one entry regardless of its size. That single line in the campaign FAQ is worth more than any of the prices on the shelf. The draw runs to 31 October 2026, and the guaranteed part, 3x Mesra Rewards points on Setel payments, runs to the same date.

What Senangnya! Ini Baru Mesra actually is

PETRONAS Dagangan is running a two-month draw at Kedai Mesra, the branded convenience shops inside PETRONAS stations. It started on 1 September 2026 and closes on 31 October 2026, both dates included. The campaign is run with Visa, which is why there is a second prize pool sitting beside the main one.

The entry mechanic is short. Spend RM15 and above in a single qualifying transaction on eligible non-fuel items at a Kedai Mesra, have your Mesra Rewards mobile number captured, and you have one entry. You must be a Malaysian citizen, at least 18, and a registered active Mesra Rewards member.

Three payment routes capture the number. Paying through the Setel app, where the crew scans the barcode in your app. Cardless Mesra Rewards, where you key your registered mobile number into the cashier display screen and then pay however you like. Or a Visa debit or credit card at the counter with your mobile number on the display screen. The first two put you in the Main Mechanic Prize Draw. The third puts you in the VISA Mechanic Prize Draw, which is a different set of prizes.

The rule that decides everything

Buried in PETRONAS's own FAQ is the sentence that should change how you shop: "Regardless of the total transaction value, each qualifying transaction will earn only one (1) Campaign entry." The page then spells it out with its own examples. RM15 in one transaction is one entry. RM30 in one transaction is one entry. RM100 in one transaction is one entry.

The companion rule is that receipts cannot be combined. Each entry must come from a single transaction that independently clears RM15.

Put those together and the tactic writes itself. If you are going to spend RM45 at Kedai Mesra over the campaign, three separate visits of RM15.60 give you three entries. One RM46.80 trolley gives you one. The money is identical, the Mesra points are identical, and the entries triple. There is nothing in the published terms that penalises this, because the terms are indifferent to basket size by design.

The practical version for most drivers is simply this: if you fill up twice a week for the next eight weeks, buy your snacks and drinks on each separate visit rather than stocking up once a fortnight.

What does not count toward the RM15

This is where people will lose entries without noticing. PETRONAS lists the non-eligible items explicitly, and the biggest one is the obvious one.

  • Petrol and diesel. Fuel purchases do not qualify at all. A RM120 tank plus a RM6 bottle of water is a RM6 transaction as far as this campaign is concerned.
  • Cigarettes.
  • Prepaid top-ups, Touch 'n Go products and reloads, and e-Pay products. Third-party payment products are out.
  • Cafe Mesra products, specifically hot food and barista drinks.
  • Physical Mesra card and SmartPay card transactions.
  • Mini Mesra outlets and unbranded convenience stores inside PETRONAS stations. Only shops carrying the Kedai Mesra brand count, so check the sign before you assume the station you always use qualifies.

What does count: snacks, drinks and groceries (kuih, keropok, chocolate, coffee in packet form, mineral water, bottled and canned drinks), PETRONAS lubricants bought inside Kedai Mesra such as Syntium and Sprinta, car care and accessories like screen wash and air fresheners, and Gas PETRONAS cylinders.

That last group is worth a thought. A 4-litre bottle of Syntium is a single item that clears RM15 by itself, which makes an oil top-up a one-item entry.

Reaching RM15 on purpose, using the live price list

Kedai Mesra is running its own buy-2 promotion alongside the draw, on the same 1 September to 31 October window, and PETRONAS publishes every line and price on its Kedai Mesra promotions page. The table above has all eighteen of them.

The cheapest honest route past RM15 is four of the low pairs: Mentos Roll at RM3.00, Dutch Lady UHT at RM4.00, Mountain Dew at RM4.20 and 100Plus at RM4.40. That is RM15.60 for eight items and one entry, and at 3 points per ringgit on Setel it also earns about 46 Mesra Rewards points.

If you would rather buy things you actually want, two Magnums at RM10.00 plus two Snickers at RM7.60 is RM17.60 in the Peninsular and clears the bar in two decisions.

There is also a Mix and Match offer with eight combinations, on the same dates and nationwide. Pick one Mesra favourite and add one snack: Mesra Coated Peanuts 20g with a Mi Sedaap Cup Goreng or Miaow Miaow Green Peas is RM4.00 for the pair, rising to RM5.50 with a Cadbury Crunchie. Swap the peanuts for a Mesra Donut, Mesra Cheese Stick or Mesra Pizza Bread and the same ladder runs RM5.00, RM5.50, RM6.00 and RM7.00. Because the bakery items sit close to the Cafe Mesra counter, confirm at the till that they are ringing up as Kedai Mesra lines before you count them toward RM15.

Two shorter offers end a month before the draw does. Pepero Almond or White Cookies 32g at a flat RM3.99 and Delfi Cha Cha Mini Tube 25g at RM2.60 are per-unit prices, nationwide while stocks last. Both run 1 to 30 September 2026 only, so unlike the buy-2 list they do not survive into October.

Sabah and Sarawak pay more on three lines

We compared PETRONAS's two regional price lists line by line, and read both again on 10 September 2026. Fourteen of the eighteen buy-2 lines are identical in both regions, which is better parity than most Malaysian chains manage. Three carry an East Malaysian premium: Kinder Creamy is 30 sen dearer in Sabah and Sarawak, Snickers 40 sen dearer, and Cadbury Dairy Milk 50 sen dearer. The eighteenth line, Ribena Cheerpack, does not appear on the East Malaysian list at all, which is why fourteen match rather than fifteen.

A chocolate basket of Cadbury, Snickers and Kinder Creamy costs RM26.30 in the Peninsular and RM27.50 in Sabah and Sarawak, a gap of RM1.20 or about 4.6 percent. It clears RM15 in both places, so it costs you nothing in entries, only in ringgit.

The RM2 coffee that will not help you

Jom Ngopi@Mesra drops Teh Tarik and White Coffee to RM2.00 a cup from the usual RM2.90, a saving of 90 sen, and it runs 10 August to 10 October 2026. Two things shrink it. It applies only between 6.00am and 8.00am and again between 7.00pm and 9.00pm, and only at six outlets: PETRONAS Batu 6 Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Rhu, Technology Park Malaysia and Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur, and Grand Saga 1 and Temasya in Selangor. The wider Jom Ngopi network is twenty outlets across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya, and it is the only Kedai Mesra offer this season that is not nationwide.

There is also a Ngopi Combo, a coffee with a yami Croissant or a Saptula Bakery Kek Cawan, running 20 August to 10 October at all twenty outlets with no time restriction. PETRONAS still has not published the combo price. Its own page said the price was to be confirmed when we first read it on 6 September, and it still said so on 10 September, three weeks into the offer's run and a month before it ends. Treat it as unpriced until the counter tells you otherwise.

More importantly, a barista coffee is a Cafe Mesra product, and Cafe Mesra hot food and barista drinks are on the excluded list. The RM2 cup is a genuine saving. It is not a step toward RM15.

What dies when: this campaign expires in three stages

The single 31 October date almost every write-up quotes covers the draw only. What is actually running at Kedai Mesra this season is five offers with three different end dates, and the two that end first are the ones with the cheapest prices on them. All five were still live when we re-checked on 10 September 2026.

  • 30 September 2026 — Pepero Almond and White Cookies 32g at RM3.99, and Delfi Cha Cha Mini Tube 25g at RM2.60. September-only, and the first to go.
  • 10 October 2026 — Jom Ngopi@Mesra's RM2 Teh Tarik and White Coffee at six outlets, and the Ngopi Combo at all twenty. Ten days into October, three weeks before the draw closes.
  • 31 October 2026 — the draw itself, the eighteen-line buy-2 price list, the eight Mix and Match combos, and the 3x Mesra Rewards points on Setel. These four end together.

The practical reading: if you are making one deliberate trip rather than several, nothing on the September list clears RM15 by itself, so the early deadlines cost you snack prices, not entries. Your entries are safe until the end of October.

The points, which are the part you actually keep

Running to the same 31 October date, Setel gives 3x Mesra Rewards points for every RM1 spent at Kedai Mesra, described as one base point plus two bonus points. These are credited whether or not you win anything.

The number that gives it scale is the comparison PETRONAS publishes right beside it: all other non-fuel Setel spending, meaning Setel Pay at merchants, EV charging, parking, bill payments, car service, insurance and road tax, earns 3x points for every RM5. Per ringgit, Kedai Mesra earns points five times faster than anything else you can pay for with Setel. DuitNow is not supported for this at all.

So RM50 spent inside Kedai Mesra is 150 points. The same RM50 paid through Setel for parking is 30 points.

Who should skip this entirely

Some people cannot enter no matter what they buy, and PETRONAS names them:

  • Physical PETRONAS Mesra Card holders and PETRONAS SmartPay customers. Both are excluded outright, and their card transactions are excluded as well.
  • Permanent and contract employees of the PETRONAS group and their immediate families.
  • PETRONAS station dealers, station staff and crew, and their immediate families.
  • Employees of the Organiser's third-party service providers and their immediate families.
  • Anyone who is not a Malaysian citizen, or is under 18.
  • Secondary members of a Setel Family Wallet. Only the registered primary account holder is eligible to participate and to receive a prize.

If you are in one of those groups, the buy-2 prices and the 3x points still work for you. The draw does not.

The prizes, and what winning involves

There are 134 winners across four tiers, and each participant can win only one prize for the whole campaign.

Ten Grand Prize winners get RM10,000 in cash, transferred to the winner's bank account within 90 working days of the announcement, after verification and a completed declaration form. Two First Prize winners get a Blueshark SoloEra Solo 1C electric motorcycle worth RM6,499. Thirty Special Visa Prize winners get AEON, Servay or Emart shopping spree vouchers worth RM3,000. Ninety-two Consolation winners each get one of six prize types, chosen by the organiser: Setel e-vouchers worth RM500, Mesra Rewards points worth RM500, PETRONAS AutoExpert vouchers worth RM300, PETRONAS Shop e-vouchers worth RM300, a 4-litre PETRONAS Syntium 3000 E 5W-40 worth RM130, or two bottles of PETRONAS Sprinta F700 10W-40 1.2L worth RM100 in total.

On PETRONAS's own valuations the three named tiers alone come to RM202,998, and the 92 consolation prizes add between RM9,200 and RM46,000 depending on how they fall, so the pool lands somewhere around RM212,000 to RM249,000 by our arithmetic.

The motorcycle carries the most conditions. The winner needs a valid Malaysian motorcycle licence of at least Class B2, and the prize excludes insurance, road tax, registration fees, number plate installation, delivery, and every running cost after handover. It cannot be exchanged for cash. If you do not ride and do not hold a B2, that prize is a tax bill in a nice colour.

One procedural detail worth knowing: for prize categories that need a phone call, PETRONAS may make up to three further attempts within a four-hour window after the first, and may disqualify you if all of them fail. Keep the number registered on your Mesra Rewards account current.

Setel or Visa, and the one place the terms go quiet

Because a qualifying transaction can only be counted under one payment method, you are effectively choosing a prize pool at the counter. Setel or a keyed-in mobile number puts you in the 104-prize main pool with the RM10,000 cash at the top. A Visa card puts you in the 30-prize Visa pool where every prize is a RM3,000 voucher.

The grey area is Visa through Setel. PETRONAS says transactions made with a Visa debit or credit card through Setel CardTerus also qualify for the Special Visa Prize, subject to the mechanics. It does not say what happens if you pay in the Setel app using a Visa card as the funding source and would rather be in the main draw. If the RM10,000 is what you are after, pay from your Setel Wallet balance rather than a linked Visa card, and call MESRALINK on 1-300-22-8888 if you want it confirmed for your own setup.

A last warning about PETRONAS's own promotions menu

The Promotions menu on mymesra.com.my still lists Isi Kemeriahan Ini Baru Mesra alongside the live campaigns. That one is a fuel-and-non-fuel spend draw that ran 1 February to 30 April 2026, and its page now shows finished winner lists. The naming is close enough to confuse, so if you land on a page asking you to spend RM200 a month on fuel plus non-fuel, you are on the dead one. The live campaign asks for RM15 in a single non-fuel transaction and nothing else.
