What is live at the Village Mall store

POPULAR's Ongoing Promotions page files Good Reads, Great Value as "available at POPULAR/HARRIS bookstores", and the flyer's own fine print says the promotion "is applicable at POPULAR/HARRIS bookstores in Malaysia". That includes the Sungai Petani store — unlike the August Big Sale, this is not a selected-stores list. One caveat is printed on the same line: certain items are available at selected bookstores only, so a specific title may not be on the Village Mall shelf.

The store: Lot 1-18A, 1-18, 1-19 & 1-20, Village Mall, Jalan Legenda 1, Legenda Heights, 08000 Sungai Petani, open 10.30am-10.30pm, Monday to Sunday, per POPULAR's store locator. It is one of three POPULAR outlets in Kedah; the other two are Aman Central and Lotus's Mergong in Alor Setar.

The prices worth knowing

The flyer prints three kinds of price, and they behave differently:

  • Single nett price — everyone pays the same. Project Hail Mary RM51.90 nett (usual RM64.95); Millionaire Roadmap by KCLau RM36.90 nett (RM49.90); The Psychology of Money (Malay edition) RM37.50 nett (RM50.00); 三体 全三册 RM48.00 nett (RM93.00); 活着 RM24.00 nett (RM45.00).
  • Public price plus a lower member price — The View from Ninety RM67.50 nett, members RM59.90; Ramen Makes Us Complete RM89.90 nett, members RM79.90; Children's Animal Encyclopedia RM49.90 nett, members RM44.90; Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Spooky Stories 2 RM64.90 nett, members RM57.90.
  • Twin rebates — Mother Mary Comes To Me 10% rebate, members 20%; Pustaka Yakin SPM past-year papers 15%, members 20%.

For Malay titles, note the Sem / S/S split: Kaisar 02 Kudeta lists at RM48.00 (Peninsular) or RM51.00 (Sabah/Sarawak) and sells at RM38.00 nett. In Sungai Petani you are paying against the Peninsular list price.

Stationery and small items also carry member pricing: DELI desktop organiser RM23.90 nett, members RM21.90; Linfini highlighter 4-pack RM11.90 nett, members RM9.90; M&G R3 gel pen 12-pack RM15.50 nett, members RM14.50.

The purchase-with-purchase and the freebie

  • Spend RM60 nett in one receipt and you can add a POP BAZIC 330ml steel coffee mug at RM29.90 nett (usual RM59.90) and/or UGREEN HiTune P3 true wireless earbuds at RM49.90 nett (usual RM69.00 nett). The RM60 must be counted excluding the PWP items themselves, and each is limited to one per customer per receipt on the same day.
  • Monami glue stick (8g 3-pack or 15g 2-pack) at RM3.00 nett with any purchase — for the first 10,000 customers chain-wide, so do not expect stock late in the campaign.

Worked example: is a card worth RM12?

Take four member-priced items from the flyer — Spooky Stories 2, Children's Animal Encyclopedia, the DELI organiser and the Linfini highlighters:

  • Usual prices add up to RM219.20.
  • Campaign public prices: RM150.60 nett.
  • Member prices: RM134.60 nett.

The member gap is RM16.00, which more than covers a 1-year POPULAR Card or e-Card at RM12. The 3-year Privilege Card is RM25 (about RM8.33 a year). Sign-ups during the campaign come with a gift: a PILOT Juice gel pen for a new 1-year card, or a POPULAR mini tote bag for a new or renewed 3-year Privilege Card.

Who should skip the card: anyone buying only single-nett-price lines such as Project Hail Mary or the Chinese bestsellers. On those, members and non-members pay the same.

What has ended

  • Village Mall bookfair, 7-16 August 2026, Ruang Legar concourse — over; not on POPULAR's Ongoing Promotions page.
  • Big Sale, 28-31 August 2026 — 20% storewide at 43 selected stores. Village Mall was never on the list; Kedah's only entry was Aman Central.
  • Super Holiday Promotion — ended 16 September.
  • POPClub members' 20% storewide certificate — ended 27 September 2026 — POPULAR's hub still shows the card, but its printed validity has passed.
  • Also ending 30 September: Comic Carnival 6.0, the Self-Help Promotion and September's WOW! Deals.

Nearest bookfair

There is no POPULAR bookfair in the north at the moment. On 28 September POPULAR lists only Main Place Mall, USJ, Selangor (25 September - 4 October) and Emart Tabuan Jaya, Kuching (to 1 November). The Penang fair at Sunshine Central closed on 6 September. For a Sungai Petani reader, the Village Mall store's campaign pricing is the practical option.

  • Prices differ between Peninsular and East Malaysia stores.
  • Certain items at selected bookstores only; all free items while stocks last.
  • POPULAR may amend or cancel the promotion without notice.
