> Quick view: Puteri Bay Hotel Melaka has brought back its "Khas Untuk Anak Selatan" rate for October 2026. It is a flat price for people born in the three southern states: RM160 nett for a Superior room with breakfast for two, and RM260 nett for a Family Room with breakfast for three. We priced it on the hotel's own booking engine on 28 September against the hotel's regular Room with Breakfast rate. The saving is RM30 to RM40 on a Wednesday and RM60 on a Friday or Saturday.

What the offer is
Puteri Bay Hotel Melaka is a mid-rise hotel facing Pantai Puteri in Tanjung Kling, on the coast road north-west of Melaka town. The hotel puts the drive at about 12km. It is a plain, mid-range beach hotel with a pool, a coffee house and free parking. Its own photo gallery is full of family buffets and office team-building days on the beach, and the hotel pitches itself to people working at the nearby Petronas refinery in Sungai Udang.
The Khas Untuk Anak Selatan poster on the hotel's Special Offers page is simple:
- Superior Room, RM160 nett, 2 pax, room with breakfast
- Family Room, RM260 nett, 3 pax, room with breakfast
- Valid for July and October 2026
- Only for IC holders born in Melaka (04 and 30), Negeri Sembilan (05, 31 and 59) and Johor (01, 21, 22, 23 and 24)
- One room per IC holder
- Bookings through the hotel website and walk-in only, subject to availability
The two-digit code is the 7th and 8th digits of your MyKad number, the part that records your place of birth. Where you live now does not matter. A Johor-born person living in Kuala Lumpur qualifies. A Selangor-born person living in Melaka does not.
The rates we saw
We checked the hotel's booking engine for three dates in October. All prices are per room per night with breakfast, as displayed on the engine.
Superior Twin (16 square metres, two single beds, village view): - Wednesday 7 October: RM160 on Anak Selatan vs RM190 Room with Breakfast, saving RM30 - Saturday 10 October: RM160 vs RM220, saving RM60 - Friday and Saturday, 9 to 11 October: RM320 vs RM440 for two nights, saving RM120
Family Room (up to 3 guests, one queen plus one single or three singles): - Wednesday 7 October: RM260 vs RM300, saving RM40 - Saturday 10 October and Saturday 31 October: RM260 vs RM320, saving RM60 - Friday and Saturday, 9 to 11 October: RM520 vs RM640, saving RM120
The Anak Selatan price stays the same every day of the week, while the regular rate rises at weekends. So the deal is worth most on a Friday or Saturday night. On a weekday it is a smaller saving.
The engine also offered a further 5% to guests who sign up for the hotel's free loyalty account, and that showed on the Anak Selatan row too (RM152 for the Superior, RM247 for the Family Room). Every Anak Selatan booking we saw had no prepayment and free cancellation until 15:00 five days before check-in, held with a card guarantee.
How to book it
- Go to the hotel's website, open Special Offers and click Book Now under Khas Untuk Anak Selatan, or pick the plan on the booking page.
- Choose Superior Twin or Family Room. The rate only covers these two room types. The sea-view Deluxe rooms and suites are not part of it.
- Book in the name of the qualifying IC holder and bring that MyKad to check-in. The poster says one room per IC. Two couples from Johor travelling together can book two rooms, one under each person's IC.

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 11:59am.
Worked examples
A couple from Johor Bahru, one Saturday night. RM160 for the Superior with breakfast, against RM220 on the regular rate, so RM60 stays in your pocket for dinner in town.
A Seremban family of three, Friday and Saturday. Two nights in the Family Room is RM520 instead of RM640. That works out to about RM87 per person per night, breakfast included, a short walk from the beach.
A family of four. The Family Room sleeps three. The hotel lists a folding extra bed with pillow and blanket at RM70 a night on its booking engine, so four people in one Family Room comes to RM330 a night before any extra breakfast. If both parents qualify, a second option is two Superior rooms at RM320 total, one booked under each parent's IC.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
It suits families from Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor who want a cheap weekend on the coast without driving far, and southern-born Klang Valley residents going home for a weekend. It also works for anyone who wants a base on the quieter Tanjung Kling side, close to the beaches and away from Jonker Street parking.
Skip it if you were born anywhere else, because the IC code is the whole point. If you are 60 or older, the hotel's Senior Citizen 2026 rate gives the same RM160 Superior price all year, except public and school holidays. It showed on our weekday and 31 October searches but not on 10 October, so check your date. Skip it too if you want a resort with a private beach and big pool, or a heritage stay near the town centre. Puteri Bay is a simple, clean beach hotel, and you will need a car or Grab for town.
The fine print that trips people up
- It is the IC birthplace code, not your address. Codes 04, 30, 05, 31, 59, 01, 21, 22, 23 and 24 only.
- One room per IC. Each extra room needs another qualifying IC holder.
- Website and walk-in only. Travel apps will not carry this rate.
- Only two room types. Superior (village view) and Family Room. Sea-view rooms are regular price.
- October stays only. The poster lists July and October 2026, and the engine showed the rate up to a 31 October check-in.
