> Quick view: Renaissance Johor Bahru's Eclat de Lune mooncakes are finished for 2026. The listed window was 1 August to 25 September, Mid-Autumn day, and there is no clearance sale. The live deal at the hotel's Wan Li Chinese Restaurant is now the Sunday dim sum buffet: RM88 nett per adult, kids below 5 free, Buy 3 Free 1. A table of four pays RM264, which is RM66 a head.
We first wrote this page on 22 September to help JB readers order the hotel's mooncakes before Mid-Autumn. The season has ended. On 27 September we went back to Wan Li's own site: the mooncake page is still up with its 1 August to 25 September dates, but nothing on it suggests stock after the festival. This page now covers what the same restaurant sells today, and keeps the 2026 mooncake prices as a benchmark for next year. We re-checked every price on 7 November 2026: the buffet, set lunch and duck are unchanged, the Coastal Delights seafood promo has come off the specials page, and a lamb rack offer has taken its place.
What happened to the mooncakes
The Eclat de Lune collection ran from 1 August to 25 September 2026. The hotel lists no after-festival discount and no leftover stock, so treat it as closed. If you ordered and have not collected, call the restaurant on 07-381 3388 rather than turning up.
For the record, the 2026 range was:
- Traditional baked, box of 4: RM198 nett (RM49.50 a piece).
- Snowskin, box of 8: RM188 nett (RM23.50 a piece).
- Durian snowskin, box of 8: RM208 nett (RM26 a piece).
The mooncakes were halal certified. Discounts did not stack: 10% with Maybank, RHB, Hong Leong, Affin or UOB cards or Marriott Bonvoy, 15% for Club Renaissance members, and 10% to 25% for 20 to over 100 boxes.
What Wan Li is selling now
Wan Li's specials page listed four priced offers when we checked on 7 November 2026. None of them shows an end date.
1. Oriental Sunday Steams dim sum buffet. Every Sunday, 11am to 3pm. RM88 nett per adult, and children below 5 dine free. The buffet covers steamed, baked and fried dim sum, dumplings and desserts. The restaurant attaches a Buy 3 Free 1 offer to it.
2. 7-course Cantonese set lunch. Monday to Friday, 11am to 2.30pm. RM78 nett per adult, minimum two people.
3. Lamb Racks Indulgence. RM168 nett for three pieces, about 400g to 500g in all. You pick one flavour: honey garlic BBQ, almond coffee, brown sugar vinaigrette, spicy cumin stir-fry, black pepper, Mongolian, or salted garlic pepper. This replaced the Coastal Delights seafood promo (abalone, pomfret and prawns) that the page carried in September.
4. Signature Peking duck. From RM83 for a half duck, RM147 for a whole one on the full menu. A second cooking style for the rest of the duck costs RM25: ginger and scallion, braised noodles, fried rice, black pepper, or dried chilli.
Worked examples
- Four adults at the Sunday buffet: 4 x RM88 = RM352, less one free adult = RM264, or RM66 each. That is a 25% saving.
- Two adults and a 4-year-old at the buffet: 2 x RM88 = RM176. The child is free, but two adults do not reach the Buy 3 Free 1 threshold.
- Buffet versus ordering dim sum: Wan Li's à la carte dim sum costs RM17 to RM21 a basket, and rice rolls RM24 to RM28. At RM88 you need to eat about five baskets to come out ahead. At the Buy 3 Free 1 rate of RM66 it is closer to three and a half.
- Weekday set lunch for two: 2 x RM78 = RM156 for seven courses each.
- Whole Peking duck with a second style for the family: RM147 + RM25 = RM172.
- Lamb rack for the table: RM168 for three pieces, which is RM56 a piece. Add a half Peking duck (RM83) and two portions of fried rice from the menu (RM30 small) and a table of three pays about RM281 before any service charge on the à la carte items.
- A 1kg Pontian pomfret at the menu rate: RM38 x 10 = about RM380. A 700g fish comes to about RM266.
Fine print that trips people up
- Buy 3 Free 1 terms are thin. The site says only "Buy 3 Enjoy 1". It does not say whether a table of eight gets two free adults. Ask when you book.
- Fish is market price. The September Coastal Delights promo listed Pontian pomfret at RM48 per 100g; it is gone, and the full menu now lists the same fish at RM38 per 100g, described as market price. Confirm the rate before the fish is weighed.
- Nett prices apply to the promotions only. The buffet and set lunch are quoted nett. The à la carte menu does not say whether service charge and SST are included.
- Pork-free, not a certified halal restaurant. Wan Li describes its dining as no pork and no lard, with ingredients from halal-certified suppliers. The 2026 mooncakes were halal certified, but the restaurant itself does not claim certification.
- Hours. Lunch 11am to 3pm (last order 2.30pm), dinner 6pm to 10pm (last order 9.30pm), daily including public holidays. À la carte dim sum is lunch only. Dress code smart casual, valet parking available.
How to book
- Pick the slot. The buffet runs Sundays only, the set lunch weekdays only.
- Book ahead. Call 07-381 3388, WhatsApp +60 19-603 1338 (the specials page's dim sum booking link uses +60 12-771 9056), or use the SevenRooms Reserve button on wanlichineserestaurant.com.
- State the promo. Say you want the Buy 3 Free 1 buffet rate, and give your Marriott Bonvoy number. Members earn points on dining without staying at the hotel.
Planning Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn 2027
Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday 6 February 2027. Wan Li had not posted a 2027 reunion menu when we checked on 7 November. For the 2026 festival its reunion sets ran from 2 January to 3 March 2026, according to a January 2026 food-blog review, so a menu for 2027 is likely to appear around late December. Reunion-eve tables at hotel Chinese restaurants fill first, so call early.
Mid-Autumn 2027 falls on Wednesday 15 September 2027. In 2026 Renaissance JB opened orders on 1 August and sold until the festival day itself. That timing gave about seven weeks. If you buy for a company, put in a bulk order early, because the 20-box to 100-box tiers were the only way to beat the 15% Club Renaissance rate.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
Good for: Permas Jaya and Masai families who want a pork-free Cantonese Sunday lunch, groups of four who can use Buy 3 Free 1, and anyone who wants a hotel-standard Peking duck in JB without crossing to Singapore.
Skip it if: you are a couple who eats light. At RM88 each, two adults who share three or four baskets pay less by ordering à la carte. Skip it too if you need a certified-halal restaurant.
