> Quick view: Sutera Harbour has published its full Christmas and New Year rate card across two hotels and its marina club. The cheapest festive buffet is New Year's Eve lunch at Breeze, RM120 nett. The easiest Christmas pick for a family is Breeze's Sunset BBQ at RM158 an adult and RM99 a child. Neither the page nor the brochure lists an early-bird price or a booking deadline.
Sutera Harbour's Wonder of Christmas page and its 17-page festive e-brochure went up this month. We read both and priced the options a reader is most likely to compare. All prices below are nett and include service tax, as the brochure states.
What each festive meal costs
The Pacific Sutera Hotel holds most of the buffets:
- Cafe Boleh, Christmas Eve buffet dinner (24 Dec, 6pm-10pm): RM198 adult, RM99 child.
- Cafe Boleh, Christmas Day Soiree lunch and dinner (25-27 Dec): RM168 adult, RM99 child.
- Cafe Boleh, New Year's Eve buffet dinner (31 Dec, 6pm-10pm): RM198 adult, RM99 child.
- Cafe Boleh, New Year's Day Soiree lunch and dinner (1-3 Jan): RM168 adult, RM99 child.
- Breeze, Sunset BBQ buffet dinner (24-27 Dec and 1-3 Jan, 6pm-10:30pm): RM158 adult, RM99 child.
- Breeze, New Year's Eve BBQ lunch (31 Dec, 12pm-3pm): RM120 adult, RM60 child.
- Breeze, Countdown BBQ dinner (31 Dec, 8:30pm-midnight): RM220 adult, RM110 child.
- Horizons Sky Bar, Roaring 20's countdown party (31 Dec, 9pm-1am): RM318 a person.
The Magellan Sutera Resort has one buffet and two sit-down options:
- Five Sails, Christmas Eve buffet dinner (24 Dec, 6pm-10pm): RM198 adult, RM99 child.
- Ferdinand's set dinner (24-25 Dec, 31 Dec and 1 Jan, 6pm-10pm): RM450 a person.
- Tarik's Lobby Lounge, Festive Hi Tea Set (24 Dec-1 Jan, 12pm-5pm): RM128 for two.
The marina club prices hotel guests and members separately:
- Marina Cafe, Christmas Eve brunch (24 Dec, 11:30am-3pm): RM138 adult and RM78 child for hotel guests, RM103.50 and RM58 for members. It comes with live music, Santa and children's games.
- Marina Cafe, Christmas Day dinner (25 Dec, 6pm-10pm): RM185 adult. Children are RM78 for hotel guests and RM58 for members.
- Santa's Tropical Winter Wonderland children's party (5 Dec, 2:30pm-6pm): RM110 a child and RM75 an adult for hotel guests, RM85 and RM65 for members.
The RM168 buffet is not a festive markup for adults
This is the most useful comparison on the rate card. Cafe Boleh's regular Weekend Soirees already cost RM168 an adult and RM84 a child. The Christmas Day and New Year's Day Soirees keep the adult price and raise the child price by RM15. A family of two adults and two children pays RM534, against RM504 on a normal weekend.
Three differences are easy to miss. The regular offer advertises Buy 5 Pay 4 and a RM118 senior rate, and the festive pages mention neither. Five adults would pay RM672 with Buy 5 Pay 4 and RM840 without it, so ask before you book a group. Festive lunch also ends at 2:30pm, not 3pm. And the regular page lists Hokkaido king crab and a shrimp tower, but no festive menu has been published, so do not assume the same spread.
Worked examples for two adults and two children
Using the published child rate for each meal:
- Breeze New Year's Eve lunch: RM360, the cheapest festive buffet here.
- Marina Cafe Christmas Eve brunch at the hotel-guest rate: RM432.
- Breeze Sunset BBQ: RM514.
- Cafe Boleh Christmas Day Soiree: RM534.
- Five Sails or Cafe Boleh Christmas Eve buffet: RM594.
- Breeze Countdown BBQ: RM660.
On 24 December, Breeze saves that family RM80 against either Christmas Eve buffet. The child price is the same, so the whole saving comes from the two adults.
For a couple, the Festive Hi Tea is the cheap way in at RM128, or RM64 a person. It is RM30 more than the regular Twinings Hi-Tea Set at RM98 for two. Two seats at Ferdinand's come to RM900, and two tickets to Horizons come to RM636.
New Year's Eve: pick by when you want to go home
Cafe Boleh ends at 10pm, so it suits families with younger children. Breeze's Countdown BBQ runs to midnight at RM22 more per adult. Horizons runs to 1am, and its poster promises a fireworks countdown party, a DJ, best-dressed prizes and a 360 photobooth. Its dress code is 1920s Gatsby glamour and formal attire. The poster does not say whether food or drinks are included, so ask what RM318 covers before comparing it with a buffet.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
It suits families already staying at the resort, couples who want a seafront dinner at Breeze without paying Ferdinand's prices, and offices planning a party for 30 or more people. The two group packages at the marina club cost RM155 and RM185 a head, valid from November 2026 to January 2027. At the 30-person minimum, that is RM4,650 or RM5,550. Both include the hall for up to four hours, a photobooth for three hours and corkage for up to three bottles.
Skip it if you only want a good buffet and the date does not matter. Hilton Kota Kinabalu's Surf & Turf dinner is RM128 an adult with Buy 4 Free 1 on Fridays and Saturdays until 28 November. Our Kota Kinabalu buffet price guide compares more hotels.
Fine print that trips people up
- The 25% member discount is selective. It covers SHMGCC and SPP members, and only the starred buffets at Five Sails, Cafe Boleh and Breeze. At Breeze, the stars cover 24 December, New Year's Eve lunch and the Countdown BBQ. The Soirees, the 25-27 December BBQ and the New Year's Day BBQ are not starred. A member's Five Sails adult price works out to RM148.50, which is cheaper than Breeze at full price.
- Marina Cafe excludes Christmas Day from discounts and bonus points, although a lower member child rate is still printed.
- Check the child's age. The web page says 7 to 12 for hotel venues and Marina Cafe. The brochure says 5 to 12 at Marina Cafe. Neither gives a price for younger children.
- Two web dates are wrong. The page calls 24 December a Wednesday at Cafe Boleh and 25 December a Thursday at Marina Cafe. In 2026, they fall on Thursday and Friday, as the brochure shows.
- "Hotel Guests" is the only non-member rate at the marina club. Ask whether outside diners can book at it.
- No deposit or cancellation terms are published. Ask for them when you reserve.
How to book
The brochure lists a reservation number for each venue. Call +60 17 813 0299 for The Magellan (daily 9am-5pm), +60 17 833 5877 for The Pacific and Horizons (daily 9am-10pm), and +60 19-810 2600 for Marina Cafe (daily 7am-10pm). Group packages go through 017 833 8722 or 014 650 4511.
Tree lightings at The Magellan (6:30pm) and the marina club (6pm) are both on 5 December, and carols visit all three lobbies on 24 December from 7pm. No price is printed for these, so check entry if you are not dining there.
