> Quick view: Thistle Port Dickson Resort is selling prepaid room vouchers for three days only, 2 to 4 October 2026, to coincide with the MAH Tourism Fair. You can use them on any night from 5 October 2026 to 6 April 2027. We priced every tier against the resort's own booking engine on 30 September. The three-night packs and the weekend Seafront voucher are real savings. A single weekday Garden voucher is not.

What Thistle is selling

Thistle is the big resort at KM16 on the Port Dickson coast road, out at Teluk Kemang, with cascading pools, a private beach and 36 hectares of grounds that include a lake and an ATV trail. On 30 September it posted its MAH Tourism Fair Special on its official Facebook page, with two posters that set out every price. Everything below is in ringgit nett, per room per night, as printed.

Room vouchers bought one at a time:

  • Deluxe Garden: RM230 weekday, RM280 weekend
  • Deluxe Seafront: RM280 weekday, RM330 weekend

Room vouchers bought as a set of three:

  • Deluxe Garden: RM199 weekday, RM249 weekend
  • Deluxe Seafront: RM249 weekday, RM299 weekend

On top of that, the poster lists a RM50 nett surcharge for school holidays and RM100 nett for public holidays, applied "on top of the prevailing Friday rate". The fair perks are a 10% voucher for cakes and pastries and unlimited refresher drinks at Steps Lounge.

The add-ons are sold at fair prices too. A dining upgrade is RM35 nett per person for lunch or dinner at the resort's outlets, the Flying Fox is RM25 nett per person, and an upgrade to a newly refurbished room is RM110 nett, subject to availability. The second poster adds a Sunset Dining Collection (Golden Hour High Tea Set RM50 nett, Sunset Steamboat Set for two RM65 nett, Catch of the Day Set RM65 nett, Oceanfront Sunset BBQ RM75 nett a head for 10 or more, or RM55 nett a head for 20 or more) and an Adventure All-Day Pass: ATV RM55 nett per ATV or RM130 for three vouchers, lake kayak RM15 nett per person or RM30 for three.

How it works, step by step

  1. Buy during the fair weekend, 2 to 4 October. The Facebook post gives those dates and tags the resort. The MAH Tourism Fair that weekend is at Gurney Paragon Mall in Penang, 11am to 9pm. The post does not say whether you can also buy by phone or at the resort, so if you are not going to be in Penang, call 06-648 2828 or 03-2083 0100, or email info@thistle.com.my, before Friday.
  2. Pick your tier before you pay. Weekday and weekend vouchers are priced differently, so decide which nights you are likely to use.
  3. Book your dates later. The poster says advance booking is required and everything is subject to availability. A voucher is a prepaid night, not a reserved room.
  4. Stay any time from 5 October 2026 to 6 April 2027, paying the holiday surcharge on the night if it applies.

What it is worth against the resort's own rates

We checked Thistle's official booking engine at thistle.com.my on 30 September for two October nights. Engine prices are before 8% SST (a RM272 room came to RM294 at checkout), so we added 8% to compare them with the nett voucher prices. The sums are ours.

Wednesday 7 October, Deluxe (garden view) room for two:

  • Room only: RM260, or RM221 on the "Book Early 7 Days" rate, which is RM280.80 or RM238.68 with tax
  • With breakfast: RM320, or RM272 booked early (RM294 with tax)

Saturday 10 October, Deluxe Seafront for two:

  • Room only: RM540, or RM459 booked early (RM495.72 with tax)
  • With breakfast: RM600, or RM510 booked early
  • No Deluxe Garden room was on sale at all for that Saturday

Worked examples

A couple taking three weekday nights in a Garden room. A three-voucher pack costs 3 x RM199 = RM597. The same three nights at the engine's cheapest room-only rate cost 3 x RM238.68 = RM716.04. The pack saves RM119.04, and RM245.40 against the flexible room-only rate.

One weekday night in a Garden room. RM230 against RM238.68 saves RM8.68. That is too little to justify paying up to six months ahead, especially when the engine's own book-early rate needs only seven days' notice. Skip this one.

A weekend Seafront night. RM330 against RM495.72 saves RM165.72 on one night. Buy the three-voucher pack at RM299 and three weekend nights cost RM897, against RM1,487.16 on the engine: RM590.16 less.

A school-holiday Saturday. Add RM50 nett to the Friday rate for that room. With the vouchers priced this far under the engine, the Seafront weekend voucher still comes out ahead, but check with the resort which voucher tier counts as the "Friday rate" before you rely on the maths.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

Good for: Klang Valley and Seremban families who already go to Port Dickson two or three times a year. It also suits anyone who wants a sea-facing weekend room, where the savings are largest, and people who missed Thistle's MATTA Fair deal. That deal stopped taking bookings on 30 September, and its three-night Garden rate was RM230 plus tax, against RM199 nett here.

Skip it if: you only want one weekday night, you cannot commit to dates before April 2027, or you are counting on breakfast. Neither poster says breakfast is included. On the engine, adding breakfast cost RM60 for two on the Wednesday we checked (RM320 against RM260).

Fine print that trips people up

  • The sales window is three days. After Sunday 4 October these prices are gone, even though the stays run to April.
  • Weekend is not defined. The poster does not say whether Friday counts as a weekend night, and the holiday surcharge is pegged to the "Friday rate". Ask when you buy.
  • Holidays cost extra. The year-end school break, Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027 all fall inside the validity window.
  • Rooms can sell out. On 10 October the engine had no Deluxe Garden rooms left. Book your dates early, especially for school holidays.
  • Activity limits. The adventure passes allow two sessions a day (one morning, one afternoon), subject to weather, safety checks and equipment. The resort can amend or cancel activities without notice.
  • We could not confirm whether the three-voucher pack has to be used on consecutive nights or can be split across trips. Ask before you pay.

Getting there

Thistle is about 16km along Jalan Pantai from Port Dickson town, past the Teluk Kemang food stalls and public beach. From Kuala Lumpur it is roughly an hour and a half's drive via the North-South Expressway and the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway, depending on traffic. There is no rail link to the resort, so plan on driving or taking a Grab from Seremban.
