Port Dickson (PD) is still the closest beach escape from KL — about an hour down the coast — and its resort strip has consolidated hard over the past decade. Older mid-market names have closed or been swallowed by newer players, so this list only includes properties we could verify as currently open and taking bookings through their own site or major OTAs in 2026: two private-pool-villa resorts, two classic water-chalet/garden resorts, and four more accessible family and value picks.
For the private-pool-villa splurge
If a pool in your own room is the point, Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson and Grand Lexis Port Dickson (same group, different properties, both on Pasir Panjang beach) are the obvious picks. Lexis Hibiscus holds two Guinness World Records — most swimming pools in a resort, and most overwater villas in a single resort — across 522 water villas and 117 tower rooms, each water villa with its own private dip pool. Grand Lexis is the smaller, more design-led sibling: 323 Balinese-inspired villas, every one with a private pool, from Deluxe Pool Villas up to Sky Pool Grand Villas.
For classic water chalets and big-grounds resorts
Avillion Port Dickson is the original PD water-chalet resort — 264 rooms across seven categories on 24 acres, including chalets on stilts over the water with four-poster beds and open bathrooms, plus three pools (one adults-only), a kids' club and a small pet farm. Thistle Port Dickson Resort takes the opposite approach — a big 36-hectare garden property at Teluk Kemang with 251 rooms and 3km of private beach frontage, better suited to guests who want space to walk around rather than a room-bound pool.
For families and value
Corus Paradise Resort keeps things simple: 200 rooms, a water-slide pool plus a separate kids' pool and playground. Glory Beach Resort at Tanjung Gemok, about 10 minutes from PD town, rents out apartment-style units with kitchenettes — useful for a multi-night family stay rather than a one-night pool run. Pacific Regency Beach Resort on Si Rusa Bay has 166 rooms with direct beach access, and its top-tier suites (Seri Menanti Suite and the Istana Penthouse) come with a private plunge pool built into the sundeck. The Regency Tanjung Tuan Beach Resort rents one- to four-bedroom apartments and a penthouse, each with a private pool, on one of PD's better-regarded white sand stretches.
Before you book
None of the rates above are quoted — this round of research didn't turn up confirmed live pricing on any of these eight sites, and PD resort rates swing hard with school holidays and weekends. Check each resort's own booking page directly, and note that a couple of these properties (Glory Beach, The Regency Tanjung Tuan) rent out apartment-style or penthouse units rather than standard hotel rooms, so availability and layout can vary more than at a conventional hotel.
