We checked more than 15 Ipoh and Perak hotels on 7 October 2026 and only five publish a current buffet or hi-tea price on their own channels. MH Hotel's weekday lunch is RM24.80 nett, Excelsior's Sunday hi-tea RM50.80 nett and WEIL's Saturday seafood dinner RM108 nett. We read the buffet prices of seven Johor Bahru hotel restaurants on their own sites and booking pages on 2 October 2026. Every price is nett. A Friday or Saturday seafood dinner costs RM118 to RM188 an adult, weekend hi-tea RM46 to RM108, and the cheapest weekday lunch is RM68. Kakatoo, the halal Nyonya restaurant chain, has reopened its outlet at The Starling in Damansara Uptown with a new look and four back-to-back deals from 25 September to 31 October 2026: Portuguese egg tarts Buy 1 Free 1, then 50% off the Hi-Tea Set, then 50% off Onde Onde Bingsu, then a free Rose Blue Pea drink with Nyonya Style Nasi Kerabu. Two hotel buffets can advertise almost the same number and hand you bills RM26 apart. The reason is two characters at the end of the price. A buffet quoted at RM158++ is not RM158: Malaysian restaurants add a 10 per cent service charge, and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department charges 6 per cent service tax on food and beverage on top of that, so RM158++ settles at RM184.23. A buffet quoted at RM158 nett is RM158, full stop. We read the published rate cards of six hotels across Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Subang and the Golden Triangle on 28 August 2026, re-read every one on 25 October 2026, converted every ++ price into what the card machine will actually take, and lined up the child and senior rules, which no two hotels write the same way.
