Bataras' Merdeka Catalogue Expired 8 September — the Prices Are Still Up, and Facebook Had a Second Price List All Along
Bataras' Merdeka Bersama, Jimat Bersama catalogue ran from 28 August to 8 September 2026 across 58 named outlets in Sabah and Labuan. It has now expired — and when we re-checked on 9 September, the day after, nothing had replaced it and nothing had been taken down. bataras.com still serves all eight flyer pages, the site's media library has accepted no upload since 28 August at 2.29pm, and every dated card on the official Facebook page still reads "Sah Sehingga 08/09/2026". The prices are still on screen and none of them is valid. Two things came out of that re-check that were not in the catalogue at all: a Facebook-only price list carrying Econsave house-brand stock on Sabah shelves, which is the plainest evidence yet of the May 2025 takeover, and KAMI PATUH, Bataras' standing written promise to honour the lower price when the shelf label and the till disagree.
Health Lane Merdeka Mega Sale, Till 30 September: The RM9.90 Lunch Bag Is Better Value Than the Free One
Health Lane Family Pharmacy's Merdeka Mega Sale runs from 21 August to 30 September 2026 across more than 255 outlets, and the booklet on its own site is really three campaigns stacked on top of each other: a gift-with-purchase, a Khind appliance at a purchase-with-purchase price, and a stamp card that started even earlier on 3 August. The headline says up to 70 per cent off. The arithmetic says something more useful. The lunch bag you can get free at RM350 in a single receipt can also be bought for RM9.90 at RM250, and the gap between those two routes is RM100 of extra spending to save RM9.90. The cheapest hook in the whole booklet needs a RM50 basket, not a RM350 one.
Sony Malaysia Pays Up to RM4,400 in Touch 'n Go eWallet Credit Until 4 October: Every Model, Every Deadline
Sony Malaysia's Merdeka campaign is not a price cut. It is a redemption, which means you pay the shelf price first and claim Touch 'n Go eWallet credit afterwards by registering the product on My Sony Rewards. Buy between 31 July and 4 October 2026, register by 18 October, and eligible BRAVIA TVs, soundbars, Alpha cameras, headphones and speakers pay back anything from RM20 to RM2,000. The rule almost nobody reads is the doubling clause: put an eligible TV and an eligible soundbar on one receipt and both rewards double, which is how Sony gets to its own RM4,400 headline. Stranger still, a rival brand's TV bought together with a Sony soundbar also doubles the soundbar's reward. Re-read on 8 September 2026, this is no longer the campaign Sony launched: the reissued terms and a rewritten campaign page have doubled the WH-1000XM5 and WF-1000XM6 rewards to RM100, added the WF-1000XM5 and two ULT Towers, quietly dropped ULT Wear, LinkBuds and the INZONE H9 II with no replacement window, and reopened the ZV-E10 on a date Sony's own terms PDF still says does not exist.
Burger King Imago Reopens 28 August in Kota Kinabalu: Buy 1 Free 1 Whopper to 11 September, Free Burgers at 11am
Burger King's Imago outlet on the Kota Kinabalu waterfront reopens on Friday 28 August 2026 after a refit, and Burger King Malaysia's own campaign artwork carries four things: a free burger for the first 100 customers at 11am, a Lion Dance and Magunatip performance at 12.30pm, prizes on the day, and a Buy 1 Free 1 Whopper that runs from 28 August all the way to 11 September. The artwork does not print a price for that Whopper deal, and the RM18.90 figure circulating on listing sites is not on it, so we say plainly which numbers came from Burger King and which did not. One number that is confirmed on Burger King's own poster: the Signature Whopper drops from RM16.20 to RM6.90 on 31 August, Merdeka Day, one day only, and Imago is not on the excluded-outlet list. That lands inside the Buy 1 Free 1 window, which makes the last weekend of August the best-value stretch of the whole campaign.
Queensbay Mall's 'Our Malaysia, Our Pride': RM50 Buys a Kid a Batik Workshop, RM388 Buys a Handkerchief — the Cheapest Rung Is the Best One
Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas is running "Our Malaysia, Our Pride", its Merdeka and Malaysia Day 2026 campaign, through to 20 September 2026 — and unlike most mall Merdeka campaigns, this one is not a single spend-and-redeem line. It is a four-rung spend ladder (RM50, RM100, RM288, RM388) sitting on top of a free exhibition, six free cultural performances by Dewan Budaya Universiti Sains Malaysia, and six heritage-craft workshops for children run with the Penang History Gallery. The structure is upside down in a way that works in your favour: the cheapest rung, RM50 in a single receipt, is the one that buys a child a place at a batik, gasing or kah kiak making workshop — something you cannot buy at all elsewhere in the mall — while the top rung, RM388 across a maximum of two same-day receipts, buys a batik handkerchief and does not open until 16 September, four days before the campaign ends. Continental's Jom Merdeka Promotion: Buy 4 Tyres, Get a Towel or a Sport Bag — But the Real Money Is Somewhere Else on the Same Website

It is a real, officially documented offer with a real end date, and we read the campaign's own specific terms and conditions on Continental's Malaysian site on 24 August 2026 to confirm every line of it. It is also, honestly, a small gift attached to a four-figure purchase — so the more useful question is not whether the towel is worth it, but whether anything else on the same website is. Two things are: the In-Store Marketplace, which runs to 30 September 2026 across 123 participating dealer outlets and pays a Touch 'n Go eWallet code on a published scale from RM30 to RM200 by rim size, plus up to 10 per cent off through SPayLater capped at RM100 — and, because it starts at 15-inch rims and only needs two tyres, it is open to the Myvi and Saga owners the merchandise offer excludes. Aman Central in Alor Setar is running "Knot of Harmony", its Merdeka and Malaysia Day 2026 campaign, from 13 August to 20 September 2026 — and on 1 September it changes shape. The free Merdeka Bazaar and the free Unity in Motion dance performances both end on 31 August, and with the bazaar goes the cheaper route to every gift in the campaign: the exclusive tiffin reverts from RM850 of bazaar spend to RM1,500 mall-wide, and the Muhibbah Knotting Workshop on Saturday 5 September reverts from RM200 to RM350. What survives into September is the RM100 tote, the tiffin, the workshop and a short-video contest with RM3,200 spread across 34 cash prizes. We re-read every campaign page and every piece of campaign artwork on Aman Central's own site on 31 August 2026: nothing has been extended, no Malaysia Day event has been posted, and the mall's "Wave of Harmony" page still carries the wrong description entirely — it repeats the knotting workshop copy, more than two weeks after we first flagged it. One is a contest: apply the zero-value promo code MERDEKA before checkout on GrabCar, GrabFood or GrabMart and each completed order becomes one entry — three entries if the order is from Oriental Kopi, ZUS, Beautea, Tealive, Marrybrown or Jaya Grocer. Twenty winners take an RM5,000 Malaysia Airlines gift card each, RM100,000 in total, but the cards are good for domestic flights only. The other half is the ordinary discount stack running alongside it: 25% off a first Dine Out visit with no cap, RM12 off RM50 on GrabFood Hot Deals from Wednesday to Sunday, tiered Group Order discounts up to 15%, RM69 off RM300 on GrabMart — one date left, 14 September — RM35 off RM200 on PayLater, and GrabUnlimited at RM1.50 a month. Lotus's Merdeka campaign has two halves, and only one of them is a price cut. Troli Penuh Merdeka: Belanja & Menang is the other half — a spend-and-win contest running 30 July to 16 September 2026. Hit RM100 on a single receipt as a My Lotus's member, submit the receipt in the app within three days, and you get an instant in-app reward worth up to RM10 plus one entry into a draw for six RM3,000 shopping sprees, nine RM690 e-vouchers and sixty-nine RM100 e-vouchers. The numbers are a nod to Malaysia's 69th year. The rules are where it gets interesting: receipts cannot be combined, three a day and forty in total, and the grand prize is three minutes with one trolley at a store in the Klang Valley — which you travel to at your own expense.

Most Merdeka F&B campaigns are a discount bolted onto an existing menu. Pizza Hut Malaysia's Merdeka campaign has quietly grown a third mechanic since it launched, and the new one undercuts the headline. A "PWP Reg Pizza 69Sen" bundle — a second regular pizza for 69 sen — appeared on the Merdeka Storewide Sale page on 25 August, alongside 50% off Curry Baked Rice. We re-read every live product at a Kuala Lumpur store on 28 August 2026, opened each bundle to record the flavour surcharges that the "from" prices hide, and found that the deal everyone is writing about — "2nd Pizza @ 6.90" at RM42.89 — is the most expensive of the three ways to buy the same two pizzas. Resorts World Genting has finally put up its 2026 Merdeka campaign — Merdeka Cara Kita, Bebas Tanpa Batas — and the single most useful line in it is a RM38 one-day ticket to Genting SkyWorlds for senior citizens aged 60 and above, children between 90cm and 110cm, and guests with disabilities, live from 17 August. Around it sits a shop-and-play carnival at SkyAvenue with RM269 and RM369 receipt thresholds, three free days of Merdeka activities at Resorts World Awana, a five-artist National Day concert at Arena of Stars from RM148, a Merdeka lobster menu, and 40% off villa stays. It is a campaign built out of a dozen separate offers with a dozen separate end dates — here is which ones are worth the drive up, and which ones quietly are not.
Setel Groceries Galore: RM6.90 Cashback on RM100 at Mydin, AEON BiG & Lotus's (Till 30 Sep 2026)
Setel — PETRONAS's fuel-and-pay app — has pushed its QR payment outside the petrol station for Merdeka. Spend RM100 or more in a single transaction at Mydin, AEON BiG or Lotus's and pay with the Setel QR, and RM6.90 lands back in your Setel Wallet automatically. The number is a nod to Malaysia's 69th year of independence, and the campaign runs from 15 August to 30 September 2026. Three details decide whether you actually get it: DuitNow QR does not count even when you scan it inside the Setel app, Lotus's only qualifies at self-checkout counters, and the whole campaign is capped at 5,910 redemptions nationwide on a first-come, first-served basis — one per user ID, for the entire six weeks.
Berjaya's 69th Merdeka Specials: Langkawi From RM450+ To 16 Sep, Island Extra 10% Ends 31 Aug
Berjaya Hotels & Resorts has put its Merdeka campaign on the island properties this year, and the numbers are worth reading properly. Berjaya Langkawi Resort has a named package, Celebrate Malaysia in Nature, from RM450+ room-only and RM470+ with breakfast, bookable right through to 16 September. The three east-coast island resorts — The Taaras, Redang Island Resort and Berjaya Tioman — get an additional up to 10% off on top of existing promotional rates, each with a one-time RM69 dining discount attached. The catch is in the dates: the campaign header, the individual property cards and the Langkawi offer page print three different sets of deadlines, and the Langkawi package is fully prepaid and non-refundable 14 days out. Re-checked 31 August 2026 — the extra-10% mechanic closes tonight with no extension published, but Berjaya Tioman has already replaced it with an End-of-Season Sale at up to 35% off Best Available Rates for September and October stays, and Redang Island Resort now publishes a straight RM394 nett per person two-night package.
