> Quick view: Resorts World Genting's Merdeka Cara Kita campaign is live. The best-value item is a RM38 one-day Genting SkyWorlds ticket for seniors 60+, children 90–110cm and OKU guests, from 17 August. The rest — SkyAvenue's Warisan Kita games, free Merdeka activities at Awana on 29–31 August, a concert from RM148, and 40% off villa stays — runs on its own separate dates, the longest to 16 September 2026.

The campaign that took its time

When we audited Merdeka 2026 promotions on 13 August, Resorts World Genting was one of the entries we had to remove: its only Merdeka pages at that point were the 2024 and 2025 editions, and its promotions page carried nothing for 2026. That has now changed. The Merdeka Cara Kita — Bebas Tanpa Batas hub is up, and its earliest-dated component, Warisan Kita, is stamped 13 August — so the campaign essentially went live the same week.

It is worth being clear about what this is, because the framing on the hub can mislead. This is not a resort-wide discount. It is a landing page collecting roughly a dozen unrelated offers — hotel deals, a theme park concession, a shopping carnival, dining specials, a ticketed concert — under one Merdeka banner. Some of them predate the campaign and simply run through it. Two or three of them are genuinely good. The rest are listed without any published mechanics at all.

The one that matters: RM38 at Genting SkyWorlds

From 17 August 2026, Genting SkyWorlds is selling a RM38 Merdeka Rate 1-Day Ticket to three groups:

  • Senior citizens aged 60 and above
  • Children between 90cm and 110cm — note that this is a height band, not an age band
  • Guests with disabilities (OKU)

The ticket includes three Virtual Queue reservations, the same as the standard ticket. The park frames it as a Malaysia MADANI-inspired move to get more of the family up the hill together.

To see why that is worth something, put it against what everyone else pays. On the park's Malaysian Rate table:

Re-read on 29 August, that table has quietly become the more interesting part of this story. The RM38 is no longer sitting only on a Merdeka landing page — it is printed on Genting SkyWorlds' ordinary Malaysian Rate card, with no Merdeka branding and no end date attached. And it is a genuine cut, not a relabelling: an archived copy of the same page from 15 January 2026 priced the Child / Senior / Guest with Disabilities ticket at RM65 online and walk-in, and the walk-in standard at RM198. Against that baseline the concession is RM27 cheaper and the walk-in adult RM30 cheaper than they were at the start of the year.

That does not guarantee RM38 survives the campaign — the Celebrate Merdeka page still says only "From 17.08.2026" — but a rate that has migrated onto the standing price list is a better bet than one that lives only on a Merdeka tile.

The RM88-versus-RM168 gap is the detail most day-trippers miss entirely. Deciding to go up on a whim and buying at the counter costs RM80 more per adult than booking the night before. The RM10 e-voucher attached to the walk-in ticket does not come close to closing that gap.

The Pahang rate almost nobody mentions — and the rule almost everybody gets wrong

Sitting in a separate tab on the same ticketing page is the Pahang Citizen Rate, now published under its own page name, Anak Pahang 2026. It is more generous than the Merdeka rate: RM38 for a Standard 1-Day Ticket, and the category row reads "Pahang Citizen / Standard / Child / Guest with Disabilities" — standard adults included, not just concessions — with three Virtual Queue reservations.

Two mechanical conditions apply. It is walk-in only, and it must be bought at the ticketing counter or a self-service kiosk, not online.

And then there is the condition that decides whether you actually qualify. The page's remarks carry a line the campaign coverage does not: rates are valid for Malaysian citizens with a Malaysian identification card, "(Eligible state codes: 06 | 32 | 33)". Those are the Pahang birthplace codes carried in the seventh and eighth digits of a MyKad number — 06 in the modern series, 32 and 33 in the older one.

Read plainly, that makes this a born-in-Pahang rate, not a lives-in-Pahang rate. A family who moved to Kuantan a decade ago but whose MyKad numbers read 10 or 14 does not clear the check; a Pahang-born Malaysian living in Cheras does. Guests must present the physical MyKad for verification before admission, and the page warns that a surcharge based on the walk-in rate is collected for any wrong ticket purchase — so this is not a rule to chance.

For those who do clear it, it remains the best number on the page: a family of four pays RM152 total instead of RM352 at the online standard rate. The page itself carries no end date beyond the 2026 in its own name and title.

Before you drive up: the park is shut on Tuesdays

Nothing on the Merdeka hub mentions this, and it is the fact most likely to ruin a trip planned around it. Genting SkyWorlds opens daily 10am to 6pm and is closed every Tuesday, except on Malaysian national public holidays and during school holidays — the park publishes a separate list of the Tuesdays it does open. Two related lines are worth knowing before you buy:

  • Children below 90cm in height enter free. Below that line you do not need the RM38 child ticket at all.
  • Resorts World Genting and Resorts World Awana hotel guests get in from 9.30am, half an hour before the general public, on presentation of a key card or booking confirmation alongside the park ticket.

Warisan Kita: the shop-and-play carnival at SkyAvenue

13 August – 16 September 2026, Level 1, SkyAvenue. Three things are running:

Batu Seremban (Information Counter). Spend RM269 as a Genting Rewards member, or RM369 as a non-member, at participating Resorts World Genting outlets, show the receipt for verification, and you get an entry sticker. You then toss five stones and catch as many as you can — the more you catch, the better the prize, which range up to exclusive postcards and blind boxes.

The terms behind that spend are stricter than the tile suggests, and they matter before you go chasing a receipt. The qualifying spend excludes hotels, concerts and shows, the casino, Genting Highlands Premium Outlets and theme park admission — theme park F&B outlets do count — along with Genting Rewards points, bill payments, reload cards, gift cards and vouchers, money changers, banks and services. The receipt must be submitted on the same day at the Level 1 Information Counter between 10am and 10pm, each receipt is good for one redemption only, and receipts stamped "Redeemed" cannot be used again. The prizes are capped at the first 1,500 redemptions across the whole 13 August – 16 September window.

The Heritage Trail (Zouk Atrium). This one costs nothing. Collect a stamp card at the Information Counter, explore four zones set between the pillars of SkyAvenue, complete the card, tag @SkyAvenue and @komunititukangjahit on an Instagram post, then bring the card back to redeem a Genting SkyWorlds 1-Day Standard Ticket. One redemption per customer — and the ticket pool is capped at the first 500 redemptions for the entire event period. Spread across 35 days that is roughly fourteen tickets a day, which is why "limited daily quantities" is not boilerplate here. Go early in the day, and early in the campaign.

Women with Love (Zouk Atrium, beside Five Guys) is a showcase with Komuniti Tukang Jahit supporting local women entrepreneurs — not a discount, but worth a walk-through.

The hub also names eight tenants running their own Merdeka offers: GODIVA (Levels 1 and 2), XIXLI (Level 2), Charles Berkeley (Level 2), Leather Avenue (Level 3), Tissot (Level 3), Cher La Verne (Level 3), Hilltop Grocer (Level 1), and Happy Bee Farm (Level 1, First World Plaza and Level G, Highlands Hotel). The specific discounts are not published online — you will only see them in-store.

29–31 August: the free one and the expensive one

Two very different things happen over the long weekend.

Pesta Riang Ria at Resorts World Awana, 29–31 August, is free, family-shaped, and unusually well documented for a resort activity programme:

Voice of National Day, meanwhile, is a proper ticketed concert: Saturday 29 August, 6pm, Arena of Stars. It is structured in five chapters — Departure, Wandering, Awakening, Homecoming and Legacy — with Z-Chen (张智成), Abin (方泂镔), DannyOne (温力铭), Amsyar Leee and Boon Yaw (玟耀).

A RM4 processing fee applies per ticket. The Early Bird discount is open to all customers but covers VIP through PS2 only, and quantities are limited.

Three conditions catch people out. Every attendee needs a ticket, including children and infants — but there is a cheaper door for the smallest ones that the ticket table does not show: a standard child ticket is RM50 for children shorter than 95cm, without a seat. Anyone taller than 95cm pays the published rates, whatever their age. And the show starts at 6pm sharp, with late arrivals possibly held outside until a break in the performance.

Dining and stays

Burger & Lobster (Level 1, SkyAvenue) is running Kemewahan Lobster, Tradisi Malaysia from 15 August to 16 September. Its current menu prices the new additions at XO Lobster RM238, Kimchi Roll RM58, Atomic Smash Burger RM55 and Texan Chicken Burger RM50; the Chili Lobster, exclusive to this outlet, is also RM238. Prices are in ringgit and inclusive of service tax where applicable. Open Monday–Thursday 12nn–10pm, Friday 12nn–11pm, Saturday 11am–11pm, Sunday 11am–10pm.

For stays, the 40% Off Villa & Mansion Retreat at Resorts World Awana is the strongest hotel line on the hub: Villa from RM701 (2D1N, buffet breakfast for four at Jom Makan Awana) and Mansion from RM965 (2D1N, breakfast for six). Booking period runs to 29 November 2026, staying period 20 March – 30 November 2026 — so this one long outlives Merdeka.

31 Tuah Merdeka: the tile that finally published its mechanics

On 18 August the hub carried a tile reading "31% Off National Day Special, 30 & 31.08.2026" with nothing behind it — no link, no mechanics. Resorts World Genting has since put up a page for it, and the first thing to say is that it is not a 31% discount. It is called 31 Tuah Merdeka, it is dated 31 August 2026 on its own page, and the mechanic is *first 31 guests*:

  • Resorts World Awana — Food Hall and The Lodge: the first 31 in-house guests to spend RM100 on food and beverage in a single receipt get one complimentary coffee or tea, claimed the same day at the same outlet.
  • Eufloria Gardens & Sculpture Park: the first 31 guests receive a complimentary hand fan.
  • Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park: the first 31 Genting Rewards members at the designated kiosk get a complimentary cinnamon sugar churros.
  • Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park: the first 31 Genting Rewards members at the designated kiosk get a complimentary sausage corndog.

Note the mismatch worth carrying with you: the hub tile still says 30 and 31 August, while the offer's own page says 31 August only. Where the two disagree, the dedicated page is the safer read. The Awana giveaway is for in-house guests, so it is a perk of a stay rather than a reason to drive up.

Four more things appeared after we first published

The hub has grown since 18 August. Five tiles now sit on it that were not in our original read, and one of them outlives everything else in the campaign:

  • Tian Ma Fold & Go Series (Genting Rewards), 29.08 – 27.09.2026 — full mechanics published. Earn 3GP in a day at participating outlets to redeem one limited-edition Tian Ma foldable bag blind box, via i-Kiosk or the RWG app. Two boxes per member per day, ten per member over the campaign, while stocks last; vouchers expire three days after redemption and are collected at SkyHanger (Level 1, Skytropolis) or SkyMoments (Level G). Employee members excluded.
  • Semangkuk Rasa, Ramen Bersama! (Taiko Ramen, Level 1 SkyAvenue), 15.08 – 16.09.2026 — name and dates only. The Taiko Ramen page it links to carries a menu and opening hours (Sun–Thu 10am–10pm, Fri/Sat and eve of public holidays 10am–12mn) but no Merdeka offer, price or mechanic at all.
  • Nature Trails & Tranquil Stays (Resorts World Awana), now – 31.12.2026 — a standing stay package, not a Merdeka one.
  • Stay & Play Golf Package, now – 31.03.2027 — runs seven months past Malaysia Day.
  • Eufloria Gardens & Sculpture Park Floral Retreat, now – 31.12.2026 — also standing.

The pattern is the one we flagged on 18 August, now clearer: several tiles on this hub are ordinary year-round offers wearing a Merdeka banner for the season. Tian Ma is the exception — it is a genuine, fully documented campaign, and it is the only thing here that is still running after 16 September.

What is still live once September starts

This is a campaign that decays in stages, and most of it goes in the next 48 hours. If you are reading this after the long weekend, this is the ladder:

  • Ends 29 August: Voice of National Day at Arena of Stars.
  • Ends 30 August: the Limited-Time Special Platter at Ayu Awana.
  • Ends 31 August: Pesta Riang Ria at Awana, 31 Tuah Merdeka, Tea Time Favourites at the Awana Food Hall, and the Mid-year Hotel Escape Deals.
  • Ends 16 September: Warisan Kita at SkyAvenue, Kemewahan Lobster at Burger & Lobster, and Semangkuk Rasa at Taiko Ramen.
  • Ends 27 September: the Tian Ma Fold & Go blind box.
  • Runs to 30 November 2026 and beyond: 40% off villa and mansion stays, Nature Trails, Eufloria, and the Stay & Play Golf Package.
  • No published end date: the RM38 Genting SkyWorlds concession rate, and Anak Pahang 2026.

Put bluntly: after 31 August this stops being a Merdeka campaign and becomes a shopping-and-ticket-price story. From 1 September the reasons to drive up are Warisan Kita's free Heritage Trail ticket, the lobster menu, and the two RM38 ticket rates — which is a thinner but more honest proposition than the hub's dozen tiles suggest.

Worked examples

A Pahang-born family of four, driving up for the day. Four Anak Pahang walk-in tickets at RM38 = RM152 — assuming all four MyKad numbers carry state code 06, 32 or 33, and all four cards are physically in hand at the counter. The same four adults on the online Malaysian standard rate would be RM352, and RM672 walk-in. This is the best value on the entire page.

A KL family with two grandparents and one 100cm child. Two adults online at RM88 = RM176, two seniors at RM38 = RM76, one child at RM38 = RM38. Total RM290 for five, versus RM440 if everyone paid the adult online rate. Book at least a day ahead or the two adult tickets become RM336 on their own.

Chasing the Batu Seremban prize. You need a RM269 same-day receipt as a member to play at all. If you were not already going to spend RM269 on the hill, the prize — postcards and blind boxes, subject to daily limits — does not justify it. The Heritage Trail, which is free and pays out an actual park ticket, is the better use of the same afternoon.

Who this is for, and who should skip

Worth the drive if you were born in Pahang (the RM38 all-category walk-in rate is unmatched, but check your MyKad state code first), if your group includes seniors, children between 90cm and 110cm or OKU guests, or if you were already planning an Awana stay and can slot it into 29–31 August for the free programme. If you are a Genting Rewards member passing through in September anyway, the Tian Ma blind box costs you 3GP of ordinary spending.

Skip it if you are a standard adult expecting a Merdeka discount on your own ticket — there isn't one, and RM88 online is simply the normal rate. Skip it too if you would be building a trip around the SkyAvenue tenant offers, since none of their actual discounts are published, or around Warisan Kita's prizes, which are capped daily.

Getting there, and the Pahang question

Resorts World Genting sits at the top of Genting Highlands, about an hour from central Kuala Lumpur via Karak Highway, and it is a genuinely popular KL day trip — but administratively it is in Bentong, Pahang, not the Klang Valley. That distinction is not trivia here: it is exactly what unlocks the Pahang Citizen Rate for locals, and it is why this campaign belongs on a Pahang page rather than a KL one.

The fine print that trips people up

  • Genting SkyWorlds is closed every Tuesday, except Malaysian national public holidays and school holidays. Check the park's published Tuesday opening dates before committing to a date.
  • The RM38 rate carries no published end date — the Merdeka page says only "from 17.08.2026". It now also appears on the standing Malaysian Rate card, which is reassuring but not a guarantee.
  • Child is defined by height (90–110cm), not age. Bring a tall eight-year-old and they may be charged the standard rate.
  • The RM88 online rate is void on the day itself — it requires purchase at least one day in advance.
  • The Anak Pahang rate cannot be bought online: ticketing counter or self-service kiosk only, and it is gated on MyKad state codes 06, 32 or 33 — birthplace, not address. A wrong ticket purchase attracts a surcharge at the walk-in rate.
  • Warisan Kita is capped in total, not just daily: 1,500 Batu Seremban prizes and 500 Heritage Trail park tickets for the whole 13 August – 16 September run.
  • The RM269 / RM369 Batu Seremban receipt cannot come from the casino, a hotel, a concert, Genting Highlands Premium Outlets or theme park admission. Theme park F&B counts; almost everything convenient does not.
  • Concert tickets add RM4 processing. Children under 95cm can go on a RM50 ticket without a seat; anyone taller pays the published rate regardless of age.
  • Hub tiles for Buffet Nostalgia at Coffee Terrace, the Limited-Time Special Platter at Ayu Awana, Tea Time Favourites at the Awana Food Hall, the Mid-year Hotel Escape Deals and Semangkuk Rasa at Taiko Ramen still carry names and dates but no published mechanics or prices, and most are not even linked from the hub. Treat them as leads to ask about at the outlet, not as confirmed offers. The 31% Off National Day Special has since been published — as 31 Tuah Merdeka, and not as a percentage discount.
