Johor Bahru has no shortage of badminton halls, and most of them sit in industrial lots and shophouse rows along the Skudai Highway, Kempas, Tebrau and Masai. What separates them is not the floor or the lights. It is the hour at which the price changes. Rally 7 Arena charges less than half as much at 5pm as it does at 7pm, and two halls sell late-night slots at or below their afternoon rate.

We opened the live rate card of each hall on 10 October 2026: six on Courtsite, where each centre's "Opening Hours & Pricing" panel shows the current bands, and two on AFA (playsportstogether.com), where the operator posts its own rate card. Every figure is per court per hour unless stated. Courtsite also stores an older copy of some rates in the page itself (EduCity's still says a flat RM22), so we quote only the live panel.

How to choose

Know when your group can play. If you can start before 5pm or 6pm on a weekday, almost any hall here costs RM15 to RM20. The usual 8pm game is where the bills split: RM18 at U Five's parquet courts, RM25 at C&Y and X Park, RM29 at Pro One and Sutera, RM30 at Forum Tebrau and EduCity, RM35 at Rally 7.

Check the minimum booking. U Five requires at least 2 hours between 7pm and 11pm. Pro One and Forum Tebrau sell some slots as 2-hour blocks, which is where their late-night and weekend discounts come from.

Add SST where it is printed. Forum Tebrau, Pro One and X Park state that 6% SST is added. The other five do not say either way, so ask when you book. On a RM30 hour, 6% is RM1.80.

Count the courts. A hall with 16 to 18 courts (C&Y, Rally 7, Pro One, Sutera) is easier to book on short notice at 8pm than EduCity's 4. The bigger halls also tend to have a pro shop for shuttlecocks and restringing.

Worked example. Four players, two hours on a weekday from 8pm: RM36 at U Five parquet (RM9 each), RM50 at C&Y (RM12.50 each), RM58 at Pro One plus SST, RM70 at Rally 7 (RM17.50 each).

Which hall for which game

Weekday afternoon session: Rally 7 or Forum Tebrau at RM15, or U Five's parquet courts at RM13 from 3pm.

After-work game on a budget: U Five (RM18 parquet) if Masai suits you; C&Y in Dato Onn (RM25) if you are in the city or Tampoi side; X Park (RM25 plus SST) in Iskandar Puteri.

Night owls: Pro One's 2 hours for RM29 after 11pm, Monday to Thursday, or Forum Tebrau after 11pm.

Weekends: U Five's parquet courts (RM13 by day) are cheapest, then X Park (RM20 by day plus SST) and C&Y (RM23 flat). Forum Tebrau's RM52 for 2 hours saves RM4 on two single hours.
