Is the 8.8 Merdeka Sale still on?

No. It ended on 9 August 2026. When this article was first updated on 11 August, bestdenki.com.my had just gone into maintenance. On 13 September 2026 it is still the same "We'll be back soon" page. On 16 September 2026 even that page is gone: bestdenki.com.my now returns a bare server error ("An error has happened during application run"). There is no online promotions page and no working web store to check prices against, so for now the outlet itself is the only place to confirm a price.

We had expected a 9.9 edition in September, because Best Denki's 2026 calendar had followed a 4.4, 6.6, 7.7 and 8.8 rhythm. That did not happen. What came after 8.8 was a run of mall-specific sales, each tied to one outlet.

What Best Denki ran after 8.8

  • IOI City Mall Putrajaya — 5-Day Payday Sale, 21–25 August 2026. Same shape as the 8.8 offer at that outlet: up to 8% member discount, rebate vouchers up to RM300, CLUB IOI Points on selected brands, and 0% interest over up to 60 months. The outlet is at L2 236 A&B, 2nd Floor.
  • MyTOWN Shopping Centre, Cheras — Merdeka 69th Promotion, to 31 August 2026. Up to RM2,500 in Touch 'n Go eWallet rebates, rebate vouchers up to RM300, MyTOWN Points and 0% instalments. Our MyTOWN write-up has the detail.
  • 1 Utama Shopping Centre — Anniversary Sale, 4–13 September 2026. Ended 13 September. Details below.

The 1 Utama Anniversary Sale (4–13 September 2026, ended)

From Best Denki's own campaign poster:

  • Up to 60% off selected items
  • Up to RM2,500 Touch 'n Go eWallet rebate — a ceiling on the biggest-ticket buys, not a flat amount per receipt

  • 0% interest easy payment for up to 60 months ("Buy Now, Pay Later")
  • 3x ONECARD UPoints for 1 Utama ONECARD members — but only with a minimum spend of RM2,000, and only on 5–6 September and selected items. That part is already over.
  • Brands on the poster include Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, Sharp, Midea, Philips, Toshiba, Dyson, Haier, Electrolux, Tefal, Zojirushi, Breville, De'Longhi, Shark Ninja, Nintendo and MSI

The poster does not list per-model prices or the spend tiers that unlock each Touch 'n Go rebate step. Anyone who bought during the sale and is still waiting on a Touch 'n Go rebate should keep the receipt and chase the 1 Utama outlet (03-7724 2787), since there is no website to check claim status.

Is there a Best Denki sale on now? (16 September 2026)

No. We checked the places Best Denki's outlet campaigns have surfaced this year:

  • 1 Utama's Trending Promo page, which lists every tenant campaign with its dates, shows promotions starting as late as 24 September — and none from Best Denki. The mall still lists the outlet at LG305, 03-7724 2787.
  • MyTOWN's campaign pages carry no Best Denki promotion, though the mall directory still lists the store.
  • No new Best Denki campaign poster has been reposted since the 1 Utama sale was announced on 4 September.
  • The Best Denki Malaysia store on Lazada is still up (99% seller rating), but its front page still shows a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 pre-order, a 2024 phone, so do not treat its prices as maintained. Chat with the seller to confirm stock before paying.

What to watch for next

Best Denki's autumn calendar last year is the best guide to what comes next:

  • September 2025: a Malaysia Day Celebration Promotion (5–9 September), a MyTOWN Re-Opening Sale (5–16 September) and a Mid-Autumn Sale at MyTOWN to 25 September
  • October 2025: a 10.10 Mega Sale to 13 October — RM500 off purchases of RM5,000 and above with code BD500, plus 0% interest for up to 12 months on selected items — and a 10.10 Super Clearance Sale at MyTOWN on 10–12 October, up to 70% off limited units, first come first served

This year Best Denki broke its own pattern by skipping 9.9, so a 10.10 sale is likely but not confirmed. If you can wait, early October is the window to check — ideally by phoning the outlet nearest you.

How the 8.8 offer worked, with worked numbers

The mechanics were simple: a member discount off the shelf price, then an optional 0% instalment plan on selected items. Best Denki never published which models sat in the top 8% tier, so treat these as illustrations of the maths, not quoted prices:

  • A RM3,000 fridge in the 8% tier: RM240 off, so RM2,760. Over 60 months at 0% that is RM46 a month; over 36 months, about RM76.67.
  • A RM1,500 washing machine in a lower tier, say 5%: RM75 off, so RM1,425 — a smaller saving than a single brand rebate can be worth on its own.
  • At IOI City Mall, a RM300 rebate voucher on top of the 8% on that RM3,000 fridge would have taken the effective cost to RM2,460 — about 18% below shelf price.

The pattern is the same in every Best Denki sale this year: the member discount is modest, and the real money is in the stackable outlet extras (rebate vouchers, Touch 'n Go rebates, mall points).

Who these sales suit, and who should skip

Good fit

  • You are buying a big-ticket appliance anyway and can get to the outlet running the next sale
  • You want to spread a large purchase with no interest — but confirm at the till that your model and payment method qualify for the 0% plan
  • You are a mall loyalty member (ONECARD, CLUB IOI, MyTOWN Points) and would earn points you will actually use

Skip it if

  • You only need a small item — the headline rebates are ceilings that apply to high spends
  • You are in Penang and the sale is at a Klang Valley mall; outlet-only offers do not travel
  • You are buying an aircon: Panasonic's own Touch 'n Go rebate plus the government NUR@PETRA e-rebate may be worth more — see our Panasonic rebate guide

Fine print that applied to the 8.8 sale

  • No full list of models or brands in the top 8% member tier was published
  • No minimum spend was published for the IOI City Mall RM300 rebate voucher, which applied on selected Friday-to-Sunday days
  • The 0% plan covered "selected purchases", not everything in store
  • The 8% tier was member-only

Ask the outlet directly whether it has a sale running or one coming up. Since August, the offers have differed from mall to mall.
