> Quick view (8 October 2026): Big Bad Wolf Kota Bharu 2026 is over. It ran 23 July to 2 August 2026 at Mydin Mall Tunjong, and nothing new is announced for Kelantan. The only Malaysian Big Bad Wolf sale still ahead this year is Kota Kinabalu: Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), 30 October to 9 November 2026, 10am to 10pm, free entry. In Kelantan right now, students should spend the RM100 Baucar Buku MADANI before 31 October. It works online only.
Big Bad Wolf Kota Bharu 2026: what it was
Big Bad Wolf's own event page for the leg gives the facts plainly:
- Venue: Mydin Mall Tunjong, Kota Bharu
- Dates: 23 July to 2 August 2026, eleven days
- Hours: 10am to 10pm daily
- Entry: free
- Pricing: books from RM3, discounts of up to 95%, with the gold bar lucky draw tagged on the campaign
The page opened with "Big Bad Wolf is back" because Kota Bharu is now a regular stop, not a one-off.
Is Kota Bharu a yearly stop? The pattern so far
Yes. In 2025 Bernama reported a Mydin Mall Tunjong leg from 29 May to 9 June 2025, run with the Kelantan state public library corporation (Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Negeri Kelantan). Organiser Geetha Nair called it the brand's third appearance in Kelantan, which makes 2026 the fourth.
Two things follow from that record:
- Same mall both years. Mydin Mall Tunjong hosted 2025 and 2026, so it is the first venue to watch.
- The month moves. It was late May to early June in 2025 and late July to early August in 2026. Treat mid-2027 as the likely window, but nothing has been announced. As at 8 October 2026 Big Bad Wolf's events index has no new Kelantan entry, and its newest Instagram post (2 October) is the Kota Kinabalu announcement.
The rest of the 2026 Malaysian tour
The 2026 tour also included earlier legs in Johor Bahru and Ipoh. Of the legs from July onward, every one except Kota Kinabalu has closed:
- Seremban: Terminal 1, 2 to 13 July, then extended to Seremban Prima Mall
- Kota Bharu: Mydin Mall Tunjong, 23 July to 2 August
- Alor Setar: Stadium Sultan Abdul Halim, 30 July to 9 August
- Kuching: Boulevard Shopping Mall, 25 August to 6 September
- Miri: Boulevard Shopping Mall Miri, 24 September to 4 October
- Kota Kinabalu: SICC, 30 October to 9 November 2026, the only one still to come
The Kota Kinabalu post on Big Bad Wolf's Instagram promises books from RM3, up to 95% off and a gold bar lucky draw. The corporate events index has no KK page yet. In earlier legs the page went up about a week before opening, so expect the rebate and early-bird terms late in October.
Should a Kelantan reader go to Kota Kinabalu?
For books alone, almost never. At the RM3 floor price, RM300 buys about 100 books, but reaching Kota Kinabalu from Kelantan means a flight plus at least a night's stay. That can easily cost more than the books you would save on. The trip only makes sense if you were going to Sabah anyway, or if you are a school or library buying in bulk. Bulk buyers should wait for the KK rebate tiers, which change from stop to stop. In 2026 Miri set a higher threshold than Kuching.
What works in Kelantan between legs
- RM100 Baucar Buku MADANI, to 31 October 2026. It covers secondary students under the Education Ministry (KPM), plus matriculation and IPG students. You redeem it with a DELIMa login at delima.bookcapital.com.my, where Big Bad Wolf and BookXcess both sell. It is online only and is not valid at any physical Big Bad Wolf fair. It must be spent in one transaction that includes at least one "Judul Khas" title, and any unspent balance is forfeited. On 20 August Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh put redemption at 68.56% of more than 2.2 million recipients, so roughly one in three had not used theirs by then.
- POPULAR at AEON Mall Kota Bharu. The store is at Lot S26, second floor, AEON Mall Kota Bharu, Lembah Sireh. It is open 10am to 10pm Saturday to Wednesday, and to 10.30pm on Thursday, Friday and public holidays. It is the town's full-range chain bookshop for the months between Big Bad Wolf visits.
- Ignore the my.bbwbooks.com "Hot Box" listings. The Small Box (RM99.90) to Combo Omega (RM299.90) are sold-out leftovers from the February 2026 Hot Box sale at Hextar World. That sale is over.
How to hear about the next Kota Bharu dates first
- Instagram first. Big Bad Wolf posts each new stop on Instagram before its website, and the dates are often printed in the artwork rather than the caption. Both Miri and Kota Kinabalu broke this way.
- Events index second. The bigbadwolfbooks.com events list carries the formal page, including any opening-day vouchers.
- Local press. Bernama carried the 2025 Kelantan announcement about a week before opening, which is the usual lead time.
