Cameron Highlands Resort Christmas Tree Lighting 2026: The 20-22 Nov Package Costs RM3,245 for Two

Cameron Highlands Resort lights its avenue of pines on Saturday 21 November 2026, and the only way to stay for it is a two-night package at RM1,375 a night plus taxes. We read the inclusions, the terms and the resort's own booking calendar on 6 November, and worked out what the meals are really costing you.

> Quick view: Cameron Highlands Resort's tree lighting is on Saturday 21 November 2026. To stay for it you book the Christmas Tree Lightings 2026 package: two nights from 20 to 22 November, five shared meals plus breakfasts, and the ceremony. A Deluxe Room was RM1,375 a night plus RM247.50 in taxes and fees on 6 November, so RM3,245 for two adults, prepaid and non-refundable.

Every November, YTL's colonial-style resort in Cameron Highlands strings lights through the tall pines in front of its main building and switches them on after a Saturday gala dinner. The resort calls it one of its signature events, and the event page dates this year's weekend to 20-22 November 2026. That page carries no price, so we opened the resort's own booking engine on 6 November 2026 and read the package there.

What the package includes

The package is listed on the booking engine as "Christmas Tree Lightings 2026". For two adults it includes:

  • Two nights in your chosen room type, 20 and 21 November
  • Breakfast on both mornings (21 and 22 November)
  • English Afternoon Tea on Friday 20 November
  • Steamboat Dinner on Friday 20 November
  • Highlands produce buffet lunch on Saturday 21 November
  • Pre-dinner cocktails and Christmas Dinner on Saturday 21 November, with assigned seating at communal tables
  • The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Saturday night

Coffee, tea and drinking water are included at every meal. Anything else you order, including wine with dinner, is not listed as included.

How booking works

  1. Go to the resort's site and choose 20 November to 22 November. On 6 November the calendar showed RM1,375 on both nights and the engine offered no ordinary room rate for them, so the package is in effect the only way to stay that weekend.
  2. Switch the results to Packages. Only the Deluxe Room (38 square metres, king or twin, golf course view) was offered on 6 November, marked "Only 3 Rooms Left".
  3. Pay the full amount by Visa or Mastercard. The engine charges 100% at booking, in ringgit.
  4. At check-out the resort collects the Pahang sustainability charge of RM3 per room per night. Foreign guests also pay the RM10 per night tourism tax. Malaysians and permanent residents are exempt if they show MyKad or MyPR at check-in.

Worked examples

A couple in a Deluxe Room. RM1,375 x 2 nights is RM2,750. The engine adds RM247.50 a night, which is 18%, making RM3,245. Add RM6 sustainability charge at check-out and a Malaysian couple pays RM3,251, or about RM1,625 each.

The same room the following weekend. For 27 to 29 November, the engine listed the Deluxe Room at RM750 a night on the Room & Fabulous Breakfast rate. With the same 18%, two nights come to about RM1,770 with breakfast. So the package costs roughly RM1,475 more for two people. That buys afternoon tea, a steamboat dinner, a buffet lunch, cocktails and the Christmas Dinner for two, plus the ceremony. Spread across four main meals for two, that is about RM184 per person per meal before you count the event itself. Whether that is good value depends on how much the night means to you.

A family with one young child. A Deluxe Room takes two adults and one child under 11. The child surcharge is RM250 per room per night, covering the child's daily meals, so RM500 more for the weekend before service charge and taxes.

The fine print that trips people up

  • No refunds. Full prepayment is taken at booking and the payment is non-refundable. If the weather or the drive worries you, decide before you pay.
  • You lose the massage perk. The resort's ordinary direct-booking rates add a free 50-minute Spa Village massage for two on stays of two nights or more. The package says the Book Direct Benefits do not apply.
  • Communal dinner. The Christmas Dinner has assigned seating at shared tables. Couples hoping for a private table should ask before booking.
  • Weather can change the plan. Activities and dining are "subject to availability and weather conditions", which matters for an outdoor ceremony in the highlands.
  • Not for groups, no stacking. The offer cannot be combined with other offers and is not available for group bookings.
  • Spa Villas are adults only. If a villa appears for your dates, it takes two guests aged 16 and above, no children.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

It suits couples or a small family who want a whole festive weekend arranged for them, with every main meal booked and no hunting for dinner in Tanah Rata on a busy Saturday. It also suits anyone who has always wanted to see the ceremony, since staying at the resort is the surest way to be there when the lights go on.

Skip it if you mainly want a quiet night in the highlands. A regular weekend later in November cost about RM1,770 for two nights with breakfast, and weeknights between 23 and 26 November were showing RM553. If the price is the question, those nights get you the same room for far less, without the Christmas programme.

Getting there

The resort sits by the golf course on the road between Tanah Rata and Brinchang. Most visitors drive up from the Klang Valley or Ipoh. Plan to arrive by mid-afternoon on Friday so you are in time for afternoon tea, and leave the winding hill road for daylight.
