We re-priced the whole rate card on 29 October and the opening rate has come down: a weekday Superior room is now RM218 against RM290 on the flexible rate, or RM238.44 once tax is added, and Dusit Gold members pay RM185. You pay everything upfront and cannot cancel.
Ipoh is getting a new hotel name rather than a new building. Dusit Princess Ipoh is the 268-room property on Jalan Raja Dihilir, beside the Perak Turf Club, that coverage of the rebrand identifies as the former Travelodge Ipoh, owned by Bursa-listed Plenitude Berhad. It reopened under the Thai group's Dusit Princess brand with stays from 1 October 2026, and it is Dusit's third branded property in Malaysia after Dusit Princess Melaka and ASAI Gamuda Cove in Selangor.
Every hotel opening comes with an "opening rate". What makes this one worth a closer look is that the hotel's own site lists several offers side by side, with "from" prices that sit within a few ringgit of each other. So we opened the hotel's live booking engine on 13 September 2026 and priced the same rooms, on the same nights, under every rate it offered, checked it again on 20 September, and re-priced everything on 29 October for November and Christmas dates. The October check is the one that matters: the opening rate has been cut, members now get a discount on it, and a second offer has appeared that changes who should book which rate.
What the Grand Opening Special actually is
The offer page on dusit.com sets out the terms plainly:
- Book from now until 31 December 2026
- Stay from 1 October until 31 December 2026 (the offer page now reads "now until 31 December")
- Book only through dusit.com or reservation.dusit.com, so OTA and walk-in rates do not count
- No minimum or maximum length of stay
- RM50 daily dining credit at participating outlets, non-refundable, non-transferable and forfeited at check-out
- Rates are per room, per night, for double occupancy, excluding taxes, gratuities and incidental charges
- Full payment is charged to your credit card at booking, and the card must be shown at check-in
- Non-cancellable, non-refundable and non-amendable
The terms say the credit works at participating outlets without naming them. The hotel has two: The Atrium, its all-day restaurant, which serves a buffet breakfast from 7am to 10.30am and then runs from 11am to 11pm, and a lobby coffee shop for speciality teas, coffees, juices and pastries.
One thing the opening rate does not include is breakfast. The Grand Opening Special is sold as room only. On 29 October the booking engine also sold breakfast versions of the Advance Saver and Flexible Stay rates, and on a November weekday the Superior room cost RM72 a night more with breakfast on the Advance Saver (RM333 against RM261) and RM80 more on Flexible Stay (RM370 against RM290). That is the price of breakfast for two, and the RM50 daily credit covers most but not all of it.
The booking engine opens with a "With Breakfast" box already ticked on every room. Untick it, or the Grand Opening Special does not appear at all.
The rates, room by room
These are the prices the booking engine showed on 29 October for two adults, room only, before taxes and fees. The Grand Opening Special comes first, then the Advance Saver, then Flexible Stay.

Three things changed since September. First, the opening rate is now 25% below Flexible Stay on every room and date we checked, where it was exactly 20% before; on weekdays the Flexible and Advance Saver prices did not move, so the whole cut came out of the opening rate. On the weekday Superior room that is RM218 instead of RM232. Second, the hotel's own headline has dropped from "from MYR 230" to "from MYR 220", which squares with what we saw. Third, Saturday prices for the two family room types are much higher in November than they were for 10 October: the Family Room opening rate is RM525, against RM416 in October, because the flexible rate it is discounted from has gone up to RM700.
Three worked examples
A couple on a weekday night in November. The Superior room is RM218 on the opening rate or RM290 on Flexible Stay, a gap of RM72. Add the RM50 credit and, if you would have eaten at the hotel anyway, the opening rate is worth about RM122 more than the flexible one for that single night. As Dusit Gold members, the same couple pays RM185.
A family of four on a weekday. The Family Room is RM368 against RM490, so RM122 less, plus RM50 to put towards breakfast at The Atrium. It sleeps up to five, and two Superior rooms on the flexible rate would cost RM580. Move the same stay to Saturday 21 November and the Family Room is RM525, so a family with fixed dates saves noticeably by coming midweek.
Christmas week, three nights from 24 to 27 December. The Superior room is RM300 a night on the opening rate, RM340 on Stay Longer and RM400 on Flexible Stay. By the 8% plus RM3 formula below, three nights on the opening rate come to RM981, and RM835.20 on the member opening rate of RM255. Either way you get RM150 of dining credit over the stay, as long as you spend RM50 of it each day. In September the same three nights cost RM1,045.80, so the cut is worth RM64.80 to a non-member.
What you actually pay after tax
Every price on the booking engine is quoted before taxes and fees. We put two rooms in the cart on 20 September to see the real total, and both came out the same way: 8% SST on the room rate, plus a flat RM3 per room per night. Take the screen price, add 8%, add RM3, and that is what your card is charged.
Applied to the 29 October prices:
- Weekday Superior, opening rate RM218: RM238.44
- Weekday Superior, member opening rate RM185: RM202.80
- Saturday Superior, opening rate RM240: RM262.20
- Christmas Superior, RM300 a night for three nights: RM981, or RM327 a night
We did not re-run the cart on 29 October, so treat these as the hotel's own formula applied to the new screen prices.
The member rate and the Web Exclusive
In September, the Grand Opening Special was the one rate on the booking engine without a Dusit Gold member discount. That has changed. Open the "Member Rate" tab on any room and there is now a Member Grand Opening Special Offer, 15% below the public opening rate. On 18 November the Superior room showed "sign up and save MYR33", which puts it at RM185, and at Christmas the member opening rate was RM255 a night against RM300. Dusit Gold is free to join, so anyone booking the opening rate should sign up first.
The second change is a separate offer called Web Exclusive: Credit On Us and Double Rewards. Its terms, on the hotel's own offer page, give RM50 of hotel credit per room per night, to spend on dining, on the Flexible Stay, Advance Saver and Stay Longer rates, plus double Dusit Gold points for members. You must book on dusit.com, reservation.dusit.com or the Dusit app between 15 October and 15 November 2026, and the stay can be any time up to 31 March 2027. The credit cannot be used on the room rate itself or after check-out, and it cannot be combined with other promotions.
That matters because the RM50 credit used to be the main reason to accept the opening rate's no-cancellation terms. Until 15 November you can have the same credit on a rate you can cancel. On a November weekday the Superior room on Flexible Stay is RM290, or about RM247 for a member, against RM185 on the member opening rate. So the opening rate is still about RM62 a night cheaper, and the question is simply whether free cancellation up to 6pm the day before arrival is worth that to you.
We did not create a Dusit Gold account to see a member price in the cart, so the member figures are the booking engine's own "sign up and save" amounts.
Who should book it, and who should skip it
Book it if your dates are fixed: a wedding at the hotel's Kinta Ballroom, a Perak Turf Club race day, a family visit, or a food weekend in Ipoh Old Town. The saving is real on every room type, and it is bigger now than it was in September.
Book it if you are travelling as a family on a weekday. The Family Room at RM368 is cheaper than two Superior rooms on the flexible rate (RM580), and the hotel has an outdoor pool and a Kids Club.
Skip it if there is any chance your plans will move. Flexible Stay costs a third more than the opening rate, but it needs no prepayment and lets you cancel free up to 6pm the day before arrival, and if you book it by 15 November it comes with the same RM50 a night.
Skip it if you are only in Ipoh to eat out. A hotel dining credit that expires at check-out is worth nothing to someone who will spend every meal at the kopitiam. In that case compare the member opening rate with the member Advance Saver (about RM222 on a November weekday) and simply take the cheaper one.
The fine print that trips people up
- Nothing can be changed after booking. That includes the dates, the room type and the guest count. If you fall sick or your trip is called off, the offer terms give you no right to a refund.
- The RM50 credit is daily. It does not add up to a lump sum, and whatever you do not use by check-out is gone.
- Prices on the booking engine are before taxes and fees. Both carts we priced on 20 September came to 8% SST plus a flat RM3 per room per night, so the current RM218 becomes RM238.44.
- Rates are for two adults. The hotel's other offer terms mention additional guest charges, so check the total before paying if a third person is sharing.
- The credit card you paid with must be shown at check-in. If a family member booked for you, sort that out first.
- Check-in is 3pm and check-out is noon. Pets are not allowed.
- Limited availability applies. On 29 October only the Superior Twin was offered for 18 November ("Only 1 room left"), with no Superior Queen, and the Family Suite was not offered at all for 24 to 27 December. Those counters move, so read them as a snapshot of that day, not a running total.
- The booking engine ticks "With Breakfast" by default. The Grand Opening Special only appears once you untick it.
Getting there
The hotel is off Jalan Raja Dihilir, in a residential area next to the Perak Turf Club. The hotel says it is under five minutes by car to Ipoh town centre, about 10 minutes to Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, and close to the North-South Expressway. Parking is on site, and the building has a surau and a self-service laundry.
