> Quick view: Hard Rock Hotel Penang is letting non-guests use its Batu Ferringhi pool for a day this October. The Pinktober Day Pass costs RM188 nett for two people or RM368 nett for four, and it covers pool access, towels and a 3-course set lunch with free-flow soft drinks at the hotel's Pizzeria, from 11am to 6pm. It runs Sunday to Friday only, until Friday 30 October 2026. A portion of every pass is donated to Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital for breast cancer care and research.

What the hotel is offering
Resort pools on Batu Ferringhi are normally for staying guests or for locals who pay for an annual membership. Hard Rock Hotel Penang's own route for non-guests is its Stage Pass card, a yearly membership. For October, the hotel has opened a one-off day ticket as part of its PINKTOBER® breast cancer awareness month, and the details are published on its own Pinktober offer page and ticket page:
- Dates: Sunday to Friday, 1 to 31 October 2026. No Saturdays.
- Hours: 11am to 6pm.
- Couple Package: RM188 nett for 2 persons.
- Family Package: RM368 nett for 4 persons.
- Additional guest: RM90 nett per person.
- Included: pool access, towel rental, and a 3-course set lunch with free-flow soft drinks at Pizzeria.
All prices are nett, so the 10% service charge and tax are already inside them.
How it works, step by step
- Buy online. The hotel's "Get Tickets" button goes to a Red Dot Payment checkout page run for the hotel. The terms say the hotel is the only authorised seller.
- Pick a day from Sunday to Friday. The ticket page lists the dates but no Saturday option, so plan around that.
- Bring your payment proof. On the day, you show your proof of payment as the admission ticket and collect your tickets at Pizzeria.
- Wear proper swimwear. The hotel says it is required. Outside food and drinks are not allowed.
- Order lunch from the set menu. Adults choose one starter, one main and one dessert. Starters are a kale and avocado salad, cauliflower hummus with flat bread, or a green leek and potato soup. Mains are spaghetti with lamb meatballs, chicken schnitzel, fish of the day or a tropical seafood pizza. Dessert is coconut pandan rolls with coconut ice cream, or churros with chocolate and salted caramel. Children get a separate kids' set: curly fries or mozzarella sticks, then a mini chicken burger, chicken meatball spaghetti, an 8-inch margherita pizza or chicken nuggets, and an ice cream sundae. The soft drinks are Coke, Sprite and iced lemon tea.
Worked examples
Two adults: RM188, which is RM94 each for a full afternoon at the pool plus a 3-course lunch.
Two adults and one child: the Couple Package plus one extra guest is RM188 + RM90 = RM278. Do not buy the Family Package for three people. It costs RM368, so you would pay RM90 for an empty seat.
Two adults and two children: Family Package RM368, or RM92 each. Note that Couple Package plus two extra guests is also RM188 + RM90 + RM90 = RM368, so the "family" price carries no extra saving. It is simply a convenient bundle.
A family of five: RM368 + RM90 = RM458.
Two couples sharing a day out: two Couple Packages cost RM376, while one Family Package is RM368. The ticket page does not say the Family Package must be a family, but it is worth asking the F&B team before you rely on that RM8 difference.
Drinks beyond the free-flow soft drinks add up quickly. The poolside Beverage Cart sells a Hope In Bloom cocktail at RM50 nett, a Blush of Hope mocktail at RM35 nett and a Rose Latte at RM24 nett. One mocktail each for two adults turns RM188 into RM258.
Who it is good for, and who should skip it
It suits Penang families on a school-week day off who want a resort pool without paying for a room, couples who live on the island and fancy a long weekday lunch by the beach, and visitors staying at a cheaper George Town hotel who want one resort afternoon on the way to Batu Ferringhi. The lunch alone covers a fair share of the price, so you are not paying RM94 just to swim.
Skip it if you can only go on a Saturday, if your group includes a baby or toddler who would only nap (they still need a full ticket), or if rain is likely and you cannot move the date, because there are no refunds or exchanges. Anyone who plans to come back to the pool several times a year should look at the Stage Pass membership instead, which includes pool access for the cardholder, one adult and two children. Its price is not listed on the hotel's page, so ask the Stage Pass office.
Fine print that trips people up
- No refunds, no date changes. Once you pay, the ticket is fixed. The terms only promise a notice if the hotel itself postpones or cancels.
- All ages require an admission ticket. A 2-year-old counts as one of your four.
- Saturdays are out. With 17, 24 and 31 October excluded, the remaining days after today are 11 to 16, 18 to 23 and 25 to 30 October.
- The rooms are under renovation, not the pool. The hotel's renovation notice says Phase 1 of the room works runs until November 2026, but the restaurants, swimming pool, Rock Spa and gym stay fully operational.
- The menu can change with ingredient availability, and the hotel asks you to flag food allergies to your server.
Other ways to give during Pinktober
If you want to support the cause without a pool day, the hotel has three more options running to 31 October. A donation of at least RM50 to Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital through the hotel's QR code gives you one lucky draw entry for a one-night stay with breakfast or a RM250 Rock Shop voucher, with winners told by 13 November. Rock Spa's pink treatments start at RM95 nett for a manicure, with RM10 from each treatment donated and a gift for the first 50 guests. Hard Rock Cafe Penang serves a Hibiscus Pinkrita cocktail at RM40 nett and a Berry Lychee Spritz mocktail at RM30 nett, daily from noon to 10pm.
