*Updated 24 October 2026. This article first covered the 2026 mooncake lists at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru and Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. That season is over, so it keeps those prices on record and covers what the same two hotels are selling now. On this re-check, Hyatt had added discounted buffet vouchers for dated October and November meals, and Shangri-La had added a five-massage spa pack.*
Mooncake season is closed at both hotels
We rechecked both shops on 24 October 2026.
At Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, the mooncake order page now loads with no items, and the shop's Promotions tab is empty. The last order date was 24 September, with collection on 25 September, Mid-Autumn day.
At Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, the Signature Mid-Autumn Edition category on the hotel's online store is empty. The rest of the store is still trading: cakes, bread, takeaway and e-vouchers. Hyatt's mooncake collection window ran until 30 September.
Neither hotel is offering leftover stock or a post-festival price cut.
The 2026 price record, for planning 2027
These are the prices both hotels printed on their own shops in September 2026. Hotel mooncake prices usually move a little each year, so treat them as a guide to the order of magnitude.
Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, sold 1 to 25 September:
- Signature Collection, four baked pieces (660g): RM198 a box, or about RM30 per 100g
- Signature volume prices: 6 boxes RM1,050 (RM175 each), 12 boxes RM2,040 (RM170), 36 boxes RM5,760 (RM160), 60 boxes RM9,300 (RM155)
- Prestige Collection, six pieces (610g): RM628, sold in limited quantities
- Snow Skin Collection, four 60g Musang King pieces: RM208, or RM52 a piece
Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, collected until 30 September:
- Golden Bloom Gift Set, four 180g pieces with tea and a knife: RM268, with a 20% early bird (about RM214) that ended on 15 September
- Singles: red bean RM45, pandan lotus, sugar cane white lotus double yolk and salted white lotus single yolk RM55 each, so RM210 for the four
Three lessons for next year. First, order early: Hyatt's early bird closed ten days before the festival, and that was the only percentage discount either hotel offered on a single box. Second, Shangri-La's volume ladder is the real corporate deal, and tiers could be combined (36 plus 12 boxes came to RM7,800 for 48). Third, neither hotel delivered in 2026. Both were self-collect only.
What Shangri-La Tanjung Aru sells now
Dining credit packs, valid to 31 December 2026. The resort's e-voucher shop sells RM100 dining vouchers in three packs:
- RM300 for RM255: three vouchers at RM85 each, 15% off
- RM700 for RM560: seven vouchers at RM80 each, 20% off
- RM1,000 for RM750: ten vouchers at RM75 each, 25% off
They work at Café TATU, Shang Palace and Coco Joe's, on à la carte food and drinks for dine-in only. Promotional and festive products are excluded and takeaway does not count. The vouchers can be gifted by email from the checkout page.
Malam Kampung buffet, every Thursday. The Thursday buffet on Kinabalu Field was running when we last checked its listing on 8 October, at RM178 nett an adult pre-booked or RM200 at the door, with children aged 7 to 11 at RM89 or RM100. Bookings need 48 hours, so 29 October is the last Thursday still open this month. The full comparison with other KK buffets is in our hotel buffet price guide.
Chi, The Spa vouchers, Malaysian residents only. A 60-minute Rumandawi massage is RM180 against a listed RM390, and a 90-minute Lifting Youth Facial is RM350 against RM680.
New: Buy 4 Get 1 Free 60-minute massage, RM720. That is five Rumandawi sessions at RM144 each, RM36 less per session than the single voucher. The catch is in the terms: the pack is for Malaysian residents only, the treatment must be booked between 10am and 2pm, it expires on 25 November 2026, festive and school-holiday periods are blacked out, and it cannot be combined with Health Club or VIP discounts. What Hyatt Regency Kinabalu sells now
Cake of the Month: the Golden Apple Mille-Feuille, RM80. A 10-inch loaf of puff pastry, vanilla custard and apple, finished with white chocolate. Pre-order by 29 October 2026 with two days' notice, and collect at Mosaic by 31 October, between 10am and 8pm.
Bakeries Set, RM120 instead of RM150. Meant for five people: two kinds of Danish pastry (five each), five croissants, five chicken pies, five muffins and five cups of coffee or tea. It needs 48 hours' notice and is collected at Mosaic.
New: dated buffet vouchers below the door price. The hotel's Dining Voucher section now sells meals for specific dates at a discount:
- Weekday breakfast, Tanjung Ria Kitchen: RM65 (normally RM88), Mon to Fri, 26 Oct to 13 Dec
- Weekend breakfast, Tanjung Ria Kitchen: RM70 (normally RM88), to 13 Dec
- Thrills & Chills Halloween dinner buffet: RM130 (normally RM168), 30 Oct only
- Sunday Dim Sum Brunch, Nagisa (9–11am or 12–2pm): RM90 (normally RM118), 1 Nov only
- Deepavali dinner buffet, Tanjung Ria Kitchen: RM130 (normally RM168), 8 Nov only
- Nagisa Japanese Sunday brunch: RM106 (normally RM130), 8 and 29 Nov
- Nagisa Japanese dinner buffet: RM138 (normally RM180), 21 Nov only
- Thanksgiving dinner buffet, Tanjung Ria Kitchen: RM130 (normally RM168), 26 Nov only
The dim sum product title still says "MYR 98" while the cart price is RM90, so check the total before paying. The weekday breakfast voucher works Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 10.30am, is not valid on Sabah public holidays or their eves, cannot be combined with Club access or other promotions, and is non-refundable.
Undated e-vouchers at face value. Afternoon Tea for Two at The Lounge is RM88, and the open-dated Tanjung Ria Kitchen buffet vouchers are RM88 for breakfast, RM125 for lunch and RM150 for dinner. Those buffet prices are exactly what you pay at the restaurant, so these are a gift format, not a saving. There are also RM50 and RM100 cash e-vouchers.
Celebration cakes. Besides the Cake of the Month, Hyatt's pre-order list runs from RM60 (6-inch rainbow, cheese, carrot walnut, chocolate truffle or red velvet) to RM80 (durian opera, hazelnut opera, fresh fruit), and RM120 to RM140 for the 8-inch versions. All need 48 hours' notice.
Worked examples
You used to send 12 mooncake boxes to clients. In 2026 that cost RM2,040 at Shangri-La. A RM1,000 dining credit pack costs RM750 and could, for example, become ten RM100 gifts at RM75 each. Ten Signature boxes would have cost RM198 each, or RM175 each at the six-box tier.
A family brunch for five at Hyatt. The Bakeries Set is RM120, or RM24 a head with coffee, and it is takeaway. If you want the hotel buffet instead, five weekday breakfast vouchers cost RM325 rather than RM440 at the door, a saving of RM115, as long as you go on a weekday before 13 December.
Deepavali dinner for four at Hyatt on 8 November. Four dated vouchers cost RM520 against RM672 at the normal price, saving RM152. The voucher is for that one night only, so do not buy it unless the date is fixed.
A gift for two. Hyatt's Afternoon Tea for Two voucher is RM88 and can be used for 12 months. That is a third of the price of a Golden Bloom mooncake set.
A couple who dine out monthly at Shangri-La. The RM700 pack costs RM560, saving RM140, if you will really spend RM700 there by 31 December.
Who should buy, and who should skip
Buy the Shangri-La credit if you already eat at Café TATU, Shang Palace or Coco Joe's, or need a corporate gift that people can actually use. At 25% off it is among the deepest discounts either hotel publishes right now.
Buy Hyatt's dated vouchers if your date is fixed. At 23% to 26% off, they are the cheapest way into Tanjung Ria Kitchen or Nagisa this year.
Skip the larger packs if you are not sure you will spend the money by 31 December. Unused value is lost, and the terms let you split a pack across at most three transactions, so ten vouchers are best used over two or three big meals.
Skip Hyatt's undated buffet vouchers if you are buying for yourself. You pay the same at the door and you avoid the blackout dates.
The fine print
Shangri-La dining credit: valid until 31 December 2026; à la carte dine-in only at the three named outlets; promotional and festive products excluded; non-refundable and not exchangeable for cash; anything above the voucher value is paid separately. Hyatt vouchers: undated vouchers are valid 12 months from issue; dated vouchers are valid only on the date printed, and the weekday breakfast voucher only from 26 October to 13 December 2026. Buffet vouchers do not work on the eve of public holidays, on Sabah public holidays, during Ramadan, or for special-occasion buffets and set menus.
