> Quick take: for a family on a budget, a sharing island-hopping speedboat (RM60 adult) plus the Dayang Bunting lake fee (RM10 for Malaysians) is the cheapest way onto the water. For the mangroves, a private Kilim boat split between 6 to 10 people beats any per-head tour. Book sunset cruises through the LADA cashback code before 31 October if there are two adults going.

Langkawi's boat tours fall into three families, and prices only make sense within each one. Island hopping is a three- to four-hour loop south of Kuah: the freshwater lake on Pulau Dayang Bunting, eagle feeding off Pulau Singa Besar, and a swim at Pulau Beras Basah. Mangrove tours go into the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park in the northeast, by boat or kayak, past bat caves, floating fish farms and limestone cliffs. Sunset cruises are catamaran evenings with a BBQ dinner, usually from 5pm to 8pm.

Every price below was read on each operator's own website on 23 September 2026, or in the operator's own flyer published by LADA for its Cashback Mai Langkawi campaign. We left out resellers and booking aggregators, which often repeat old prices.

How to choose

Sharing or private. A sharing seat is priced per head; a private boat is priced per boat. At Kilim, the village co-op's RM300 two-hour boat takes up to 10 people, which is RM30 each if you fill it. For two people, a sharing tour is cheaper. For a group of six or more, the private boat almost always wins.

What the price leaves out. Three costs are routinely excluded. The Dayang Bunting lake fee is RM10 per Malaysian adult and RM5 per child (RM20 and RM10 for foreigners), set by Langsura Geopark, which runs the lake. Hotel transfers are extra on most tours; JungleWalla, for example, charges RM80 per person or RM350 per van. And meals: some mangrove tours include lunch at a floating restaurant, others do not.

Where it leaves from. Island hopping mostly leaves from Jeti Teluk Baru near Pantai Tengah, or the tourist jetty in Kuah. Mangrove tours leave from the Kilim jetty, Tanjung Rhu or Kubang Badak. Sunset cruises leave from the Resorts World Langkawi marina or the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club. Check the jetty before you book a Grab.

The season. JungleWalla's own climate page names September and October as Langkawi's wettest months and November to March as the dry season. Tours still run in the wet months, but afternoon storms can cut a sea trip short. It also notes that Pinang Cave, a stop on some mangrove kayak routes, has been closed since July 2026.

The LADA deals, and what they really are

LADA's Cashback Mai Langkawi (1 August to 31 October 2026) is marketed as "Buy 1 Free 1", but the tour offers inside it are all different. The main cashback is 50% on RoRo ferry passenger fares for Malaysians staying at least two nights. For tours, only a few partners take part, and each runs its own mechanic: Tropical Charters gives RM120 cash back on two adult sunset tickets; Dayang Bunting lets up to two children in free on its inflatable playground with two paying parents; Avanté's flyer gives a free activity with a sunset cruise but ends on 30 September. RBY Sea Tours at Teluk Baru also has a partner offer (RM100 for two adult island-hopping tickets with a third free), but its own website was still partly under construction when we checked, so we have not listed it below.

The bottom line

Pick the family first, then the operator. For the cheapest day on the water, take Avanté's RM60 sharing speedboat and bring cash for the lake. For the mangroves with a group, book the Kilim co-op boat online; with two people, JungleWalla's RM140 sharing cruise is the best guided value, and Dev's or Langkawi Eco Ventures if you want to paddle. For a sunset cruise, Tropical Charters with code SCTC120 is the cheapest dinner cruise for a couple until the 300 bookings run out.
