> Quick view: Beast & Butterflies, the restaurant inside M Social Resort Penang in Tanjung Bungah, has a new price list for October 2026. The old offer page, The Social Table, now shows "Page Not Available". Its replacement, The Social Feast, drops the RM138 Saturday Salmon Madness dinner and adds two RM158 buffet dinners: Oyster Night on Fridays and Sea Meat Land on Saturdays. Weekend lunch stays at RM98, and the weekday set lunch stays at RM38. We checked the new page, its menu PDFs and the restaurant's TableCheck booking engine on 3 October 2026.

What changed on 3 October

  • Friday dinner: was the claypot set only; now the Oyster Night buffet, RM158 / RM95.
  • Saturday dinner: was Salmon Madness at RM138 / RM69; now the Sea Meat Land buffet, RM158 / RM95.
  • Weekend lunch buffets: unchanged at RM98 / RM49.
  • Weekday set lunch: unchanged at RM38 with Pay 5, Dine 6, but with new mains.
  • Claypot dinner: now Sunday to Thursday (no longer Friday), with a third set free.
  • Afternoon tea: now the Pink Social Tea Box, RM88 for two, three boxes for the price of two.

The booking engine agrees with the new page on every date we tried. On Friday 9 October it sells Oyster Night at RM158 per adult and RM95 per senior or child, and no claypot. On Saturday 10 October it sells Sea Meat Land at the same RM158 and RM95. All prices are nett, and nothing is charged when you book.

The old RM58 problem is also fixed. For months the hotel's page said seniors and children paid RM58 at the weekend lunch buffets while the booking engine charged RM49. The Social Feast page now prints RM49, which matches the engine.

The two new buffet dinners

Both run 6.30pm to 10pm according to the menus (the offer page says 10.30pm). Each menu rotates weekly between a Menu A and a Menu B.

  • Oyster Night (Fridays). Oysters on the seafood ice bar with prawns, crab, mussels, scallops, yabbies and spanner crab. Menu A adds slipper lobster on the ice bar and Oyster Kilpatrick among the mains, and both weeks have oyster char kway teow and oh jian (oyster omelette). The carving station does a salt-crusted baked whole fish, and the grill does stingray, kembong, squid, prawns and slipper lobster.
  • Sea Meat Land (Saturdays). The same seafood ice bar, plus more meat. Menu A has a roast beef carving station, grilled lamb chops, braised beef in dark soy and lamb with rosemary gravy. Menu B has beef curry, cheese-baked slipper lobster and sweet and sour crab.

Both include satay, pizza, salads, sashimi (smoked salmon or smoked duck, butterfish, chuka idako), ais kacang, waffles, ice cream, coffee, tea and juices.

Is RM158 better value than RM138? It is RM20 more per adult and RM26 more per child than Salmon Madness. In return, the ice bar now carries oysters every week, and there are two dinner nights instead of one. If you went for the salmon, Oyster Night and Sea Meat Land both keep smoked salmon, but the salmon wellington and gravlax are gone.

Worked examples at October prices

Four adults, Friday or Saturday dinner. With Pay 3, Dine 4 you pay 3 x RM158 = RM474, or RM118.50 each, instead of RM632. A Prestige member's 25% off four seats is also RM474. Classic (15%) would pay RM537.20 and Silver (20%) RM505.60, so they should use the group deal.

Five adults, dinner. The group deal charges four seats: RM632. Prestige 25% off five seats is RM592.50, which is cheaper.

Two adults and two children aged 5 to 12, dinner. 2 x RM158 + 2 x RM95 = RM506. The same family pays RM294 at the weekend lunch buffet, so lunch saves RM212.

Four adults, weekend lunch. Pay 3, Dine 4 brings it to RM294, or RM73.50 each.

Six colleagues, weekday set lunch. Pay 5, Dine 6 = RM190, or RM31.67 each. The October mains are Hainan chicken chop, grilled fish, char hor fun, silky egg gravy rice, vegetable curry rice and squid ink arrabbiata.

Six people, claypot dinner. Pay for two RM88 sets and get a third free: RM176, or RM29.33 each, for salmon fish head curry with belacan fried chicken, vegetables, rice and dessert. The page does not say whether the free set applies to the RM168 four-person set too, so ask.

Six people, afternoon tea. Three Pink Social Tea Boxes for the price of two: RM176, or RM29.33 each.

The hotel still has not said whether Pay 3, Dine 4 can be combined with a MyMillennium discount. The menu PDFs say the member rate applies "at adult price", and the discount is worked out at the till. Ask before you order.

What this page used to cover

This page began as a write-up of the Taste of Malaysia buffet lunch, which ran once on Wednesday 16 September 2026 at RM98 per adult and RM49 per senior or child. We showed at the time that it was the regular weekend buffet price. It has not come back. As of 3 October the booking engine shows no Deepavali buffet for Sunday 8 or Monday 9 November, only the usual Sunday Roast lunch and the Monday set lunch.

Who should go, and who should skip

  • Seafood lovers: Friday's Oyster Night is the only buffet here with oysters in three dishes as well as on ice.
  • Families: the weekend lunch buffets at RM49 per child are much cheaper than the RM95 dinners.
  • Groups of four adults: use Pay 3, Dine 4 at any buffet; no membership needed.
  • Couples on a budget: a claypot set for two is RM88, Sunday to Thursday. Two weekday set lunches are RM76.
  • Skip it if you were planning on the RM138 salmon dinner. It no longer exists.
