> Quick view: Parkson Travel Madness runs 4 to 27 September 2026. The cheapest 20 inch hard case in the mailer is the ELLE at RM237.60 in Peninsular Malaysia, down from RM990, but it is stocked at 18 of Parkson's 38 stores and none of them are in Sabah or Labuan. The EMINENT at RM299.40 is RM61.80 dearer and sits in 35 stores. Prices are split WM and EM, and East Malaysia pays more on nearly every line.

Parkson runs a travel-goods mailer most years, and the 2026 edition is the one worth reading properly, because the arithmetic on the front page is unusual. Most Malaysian sale posters say "up to 70% off" and then hide the 70% on one clearance item. This one prints a second number next to the first: "70% + 20% OFF", "50% + 10% OFF", "20% + 20% OFF". We checked every one of those against the ringgit price printed underneath it, and they all hold up.

What "70% + 20% OFF" actually means

It is not 90%. The second number comes off the already-reduced price, and Parkson's own printed prices confirm it line by line:

  • ELLE PP zipper trolley case, 20 inch, at 70% + 20%. Normal price RM990. Take 70% off and you are at RM297. Take another 20% off that and you are at RM237.60, which is exactly what the mailer prints. Total saving 76%.
  • VERAGE spandex memory foam neck guard at 20% + 20%. Normal price RM160, printed price RM102.40. That is RM160 down to RM128, then down to RM102.40. Total 36%, not 40%.
  • KENVELO polyester men's hooded winter jacket at 50% + 20%. Normal price RM699, printed price RM279.60. Total 60%.
  • AUSTIN REED cotton rich short-sleeve shirt at 50% + 10%. Normal price RM219, printed price RM98.55. Total 55%.
  • LEE cotton knit long-sleeve sweater at 30% + 10%. Normal price RM399, printed price RM251.37. Total 37%.

So the rule of thumb is simple. A stacked "A% + B%" is worth a little less than A + B, and the gap widens as the numbers get bigger. On the ELLE case the difference between the headline 90% and the real 76% is RM138.60.

The luggage, priced side by side

Three hard-case ranges carry a discount in this mailer. These are the Peninsular Malaysia prices, with normal prices in brackets:

  • ELLE PP zipper trolley case, 70% + 20% off. 20 inch RM237.60 (RM990), 24 inch RM285.60 (RM1,190), 28 inch RM333.60 (RM1,390).
  • EMINENT PP trolley case, a flat 70% off. 20 inch RM299.40 (RM998), 24 inch RM359.40 (RM1,198), 28 inch RM419.40 (RM1,398).
  • HUSH PUPPIES PP trolley case, 50% + 10% off. 20 inch RM449.10 (RM998), 24 inch RM494.10 (RM1,098), 28 inch RM539.10 (RM1,198).

There is also a BODYSAC set, an Exclusive Collection line sold only at Parkson, bundling a 20 inch case, a 24 inch case, a sling bag and a backpack for RM499 against a normal price of RM1,898. Four pieces for less than the price of one Hush Puppies 24 inch, if the bundle is what you actually want.

The ranking is the same at every size: ELLE, then EMINENT about RM60 to RM86 higher, then Hush Puppies another RM130 to RM211 above that. Which one is the real bargain depends entirely on the next section.

Where you can actually buy the cheapest case

Parkson's store locator lists 38 outlets nationwide. The mailer's footnotes then cut that number brand by brand, and the two headline items are the two most restricted.

ELLE is listed as "only available at" 18 stores: Elite Pavilion KL, 1 Utama, Gurney Plaza, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Setapak Central, Setia City Mall, Sunway Pyramid, Mahkota Parade, Paradigm Mall JB, Sunway Carnival, Aman Central, Ipoh Parade, East Coast Mall, Bintang Megamall, Plaza Merdeka, The Spring Bintulu, Vivacity Megamall and Wisma Sanyan.

Read that list against the map and two things jump out. There is no Sabah store on it, so Parkson 1Borneo and Parkson Imago in Kota Kinabalu are out, and so is Financial Park Labuan. Yet the mailer still prints an East Malaysia price for the ELLE case (RM249.60 for the 20 inch). In practice that EM price is a Sarawak price, because the only East Malaysian stores on the ELLE list are the four Sarawak ones: Miri, Kuching, Bintulu and Sibu.

EMINENT is the opposite. Its footnote says all Parkson stores except Evo Mall, Angsana JB Mall and Sentra Mall, so 35 of 38. If you live in Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Subang, Bangi, Klang, Kajang or Selayang, the EMINENT at RM299.40 is not the second-best deal in the mailer, it is the only hard case on discount you can walk in and buy.

The POLO HILL synthetic leather backpack at RM79, down from RM429, is the single deepest cut on the whole poster at 82% off. Its footnote lists 16 stores: Sunway Velocity, Evo Mall, Setia City Mall, Subang Parade, IOI City Mall, Angsana JB Mall, Kluang Parade, Paradigm Mall JB, Aman Central, Petani Parade, Sentra Mall, Kuantan City Mall, 1Borneo, Plaza Merdeka, Summer Mall and Wisma Sanyan.

Cross the two lists and only five stores carry both the ELLE luggage and the POLO HILL backpack: Setia City Mall, Paradigm Mall JB, Aman Central, Plaza Merdeka and Wisma Sanyan. Everywhere else you get one or the other, which is worth knowing before you drive to a specific branch for a specific item.

East Malaysia pays more, line by line

The mailer quotes two prices on most travel goods, marked WM and EM. The gap is small per item and adds up across a basket:

  • ELLE 20 inch case: RM237.60 WM against RM249.60 EM.
  • KENVELO memory foam neck pillow: RM59 WM against RM64 EM.
  • TRAVEL TIME worldwide USB adaptor: RM80.10 WM against RM89.10 EM.
  • TRAVEL TIME spandex luggage cover, size S: RM44.80 WM against RM48 EM.
  • CAMEL ACTIVE synthetic leather boots: RM280 WM against RM290 EM.

The normal prices carry the same split, so the discount percentage is identical either side of the South China Sea. It is the base price that differs.

A worked example: kitting out for a year-end trip

Say you want a cabin case and the usual accessories before the December school holidays, and you are at a store that stocks both ELLE and the Travel Time range. Peninsular prices:

  • ELLE 20 inch PP zipper trolley case, RM237.60 (RM990)
  • TRAVEL TIME spandex luggage cover, size S, RM44.80 (RM70)
  • TRAVEL TIME 6-piece polyester packing cube set, RM62.10 (RM69)
  • KENVELO memory foam neck pillow, RM59 (RM119)
  • TRAVEL TIME worldwide USB adaptor, RM80.10 (RM89)
  • TRAVEL TIME electronic luggage scale, RM35.10 (RM39)
  • TRAVEL TIME silicone bottle set, RM26.10 (RM29)
  • TRAVEL TIME polyester RFID security waist bag, RM26.10 (RM29)

That comes to RM570.90 against RM1,434 at normal prices, a saving of RM863.10 or 60% on the basket. The same basket in East Malaysia, using the EM prices where they are quoted, works out at RM600.10, about RM29 more.

Notice where the saving actually comes from. The case alone accounts for RM752.40 of that RM863.10. The accessories are mostly 10% off, which is a courtesy discount rather than a reason to buy. If you already own a luggage scale, skip it.

The bags are quietly better value than the clothes

The apparel pages of this mailer are ordinary. A SOUTH CHINA SEA cotton blend blouse at RM69 from RM79, an ISLAND SHOP linen top at 15% off, a NICOLE polyester blend top at RM89. Useful if you were shopping there anyway, not worth a trip.

The bags are a different story, and almost all of them run at a flat 70%:

  • POLO HILL synthetic leather backpack, RM79 (RM429)
  • BRUNO CAVALLI polyester laptop backpack, RM95.40 (RM318)
  • DUCATI nylon backpack, RM107.97 (RM359.90)
  • HUSH PUPPIES polyester backpack, RM119 (RM399)
  • COUNTRY HIDE leather waist pouch, RM158.97 (RM529.90)
  • HUSH PUPPIES polyester messenger bag, RM79 (RM259)

One honest caveat on all of these. The bracketed figure is the normal price the brand states, and Parkson does not publish how long an item sold at that price before the campaign. A synthetic leather backpack marked down from RM429 to RM79 is a good buy at RM79 whether or not RM429 was ever a busy price. Judge it on the RM79, not on the 82%.

Two bundle offers outside the bag section are worth a mention because the maths is not obvious. PIERRE CARDIN assorted bras are 3 for RM100 or 4 for RM125, against RM109 each: the four-pack works out at RM31.25 a piece, so the bigger bundle is meaningfully better than the smaller one. SORELLA bundle panties are 5 for RM59 against RM29.90 each. POLO HILL breathable knit mesh sandals are 2 for RM99 against RM89 each.

Who should go and who should skip

Go if you need a hard case and your nearest Parkson is on the ELLE list. RM237.60 for a 20 inch four-wheel case is at the low end of what department stores charge in Malaysia, and it is the clearest saving in the campaign.

Go if you want a backpack or a laptop bag. The 70% flat cuts across Bruno Cavalli, Ducati, Hush Puppies and Country Hide are consistent, and the entry prices sit between RM79 and RM159.

Skip if you are shopping for the clothes. Outside a handful of stacked jacket offers, the apparel discounts run 10% to 20%, and Parkson's Proudly Malaysian campaign, running to 30 September at all stores nationwide, is the better window for that.

Skip the trip if you are in Kota Kinabalu or Labuan and the ELLE headline is what brought you. It is not stocked there. Check the EMINENT instead, which is.

Fine print that trips people up

  • Stacked discounts compound. "70% + 20%" is 76% off, not 90%.
  • Every brand has its own store list. Two items on the same page can have completely different availability, and the mailer prints those lists in small type at the bottom of the page rather than next to the product.
  • Prices are quoted WM and EM. If a price has no EM figure printed next to it, that item's East Malaysia price is not published in the mailer, so confirm at the counter.
  • The campaign ends 27 September 2026. Parkson's banner carries the standard "Terms and Conditions apply. Please check in store for more details" line, and stock at the sale price is not guaranteed for the full window.
  • Parkson's own website store locator is the reliable list of branches. The chain has closed outlets in recent years, so an older list may send you to a store that is no longer there.
