> Quick view: TNG eWallet has put a collectible brick-built durian stall into GOrewards. It costs either 4,990 GOrewards points or 990 points plus RM40, and new stock drops every Wednesday until 31 December 2026. Both options come to the same value once you work out what TNG thinks a point is worth. The part the campaign page leaves out is the delivery fee.

TNG Digital calls this its first "Bricks drop", which tells you more designs are meant to follow. The Durian Brick itself is a small brick-built model of a roadside durian stall: a tiled awning, crates of durians, a lit shopfront and TNG's own mascots standing beside a QR payment terminal. It is merchandise rather than a voucher, and it gets posted to your door.

The two ways to pay, and why they cost the same

TNG offers exactly two options:

  • Option 1: 4,990 GOrewards points, no cash.
  • Option 2: 990 GOrewards points plus RM40.

Put them side by side and the pricing quietly tells you what TNG thinks a point is worth. The options differ by 4,000 points and RM40, which values a point at exactly 1 sen. At that rate Option 1 costs RM49.90 in points, and Option 2 costs RM9.90 in points plus RM40, which is also RM49.90.

There is no discount hiding in either route. The only real question is whether you would rather spend points you already have or hang on to them and pay cash instead.

What 4,990 points actually costs you

This is where the number stops being abstract. TNG's own loyalty page says you collect 1 point for every RM1 spent through the eWallet, and it rounds down: RM5.90 earns 5 points and RM0.90 earns nothing at all. So 4,990 points is roughly RM4,990 of spending at the base rate.

Points also expire on the last day of the sixth month after the month you earned them. Points earned any time in January are gone on 30 June. That gives you a rolling six-month window, so to have 4,990 points sitting in the account at one time you need to be pushing around RM830 a month through the eWallet, every month, for six straight months. Bills, groceries, petrol, telco reloads, in-app insurance and Visa card spend all count.

Option 2 is far more reachable. 990 points is about RM990 of spending, which a regular user banks in a month or two.

There are shortcuts. TNG advertises up to 5X points with selected merchant partners, and outbound remittance through GOremit earns 150 base points per transaction regardless of the amount sent, so anyone remitting money home monthly builds a balance faster than the headline rate suggests.

The delivery fee the campaign page does not mention

The promotion page stops at "delivered to your doorstep". The actual fee sits in clause 5.7 of the terms and in FAQ 13: RM7 for West Malaysia and RM14 for East Malaysia. Budget for it. Stacked on Option 2, a Sabah or Sarawak address pays RM54 in real cash plus 990 points.

Fulfilment is not TNG's own operation. The Brick is manufactured and supplied by a third party and delivered by TNG's appointed partner, with delivery support running through Trade Shoppe (info@tradeshoppe.com.my, hotline 019-2241818 or 011-6330 1818). If yours turns up damaged, incomplete or simply wrong, you have seven days from the delivery date to report it through the app with supporting evidence. After that TNG reserves the right to reject the claim outright.

Two more lines are worth reading before you tap. The product images are "for illustration purposes only" and TNG says the actual product, packaging, colour and specifications may vary. The Brick is supplied on an "as is where is" basis with no warranty of quality or fitness. And points are non-refundable the moment a redemption completes, so a change of heart costs you the full amount.

The Wednesday drop, and what "in your cart" is worth

Stock is limited and released first come, first served, with new stock scheduled every Wednesday for the length of the campaign. TNG spells out that adding the Brick to your cart does not reserve it, and that availability can change while your redemption is being processed.

So if it shows as out of stock, there is nothing to do except come back the next Wednesday. Your redemption only counts when the confirmation screen appears in the app, not when the item lands in your cart and not when the payment screen opens.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

Worth doing if you already have a points balance you were never going to spend. Points die on a six-month clock whether you use them or not, and something you will actually put on a shelf beats watching them lapse.

Worth doing if you collect this sort of thing. It is a recognisably Malaysian street scene in brick form, the first in a planned series, and there is no retail equivalent to buy instead.

Skip it if you are chasing value. RM49.90 equivalent plus delivery for a small brick model is a merchandise price, not a deal price. If you want your points to stretch further, GOrewards cashback vouchers convert at the same 1 sen a point with no shipping to pay.

Skip it if you are tempted to spend more just to hit 4,990 points. Spending an extra RM4,000 to earn 4,000 points means spending RM4,000 to save RM40.

How to redeem, step by step

  1. Open TNG eWallet and tap GOrewards. If you have never joined, tap "Join Now" first. Membership is free.
  2. Search "Durian Brick" in the search bar at the top of the GOrewards page.
  3. Tap the item and Add to Cart, then open the cart icon at the top of the page.
  4. Toggle on the GOrewards points deduction for the option you want, then Proceed To Checkout.
  5. For Option 2, complete the RM40 cash payment first. Then tap Order Now.
  6. Check your delivery address before confirming, and wait for the confirmation to display in the app. The points are gone the moment it goes through.
