> Quick view: re-checked 29 August 2026. The "Mega Sale" name has been retired — Watsons' promotions page has rolled over to its September line-up — but the deal itself is still running, and it runs longer than first announced: the up-to-80%-off-second-item tag on selected Watsons Collection (own-brand) products is now dated to 23 September 2026, not 2 September. One correction: Watsons' own terms say this mechanic is *usually for the same product*, so plan on two of the same item.

What changed on 29 August

We re-read this campaign off Watsons Malaysia's own systems rather than a banner, and three things had moved since our 18 August check:

  1. The "Jualan Mega / Mega Sale" branding is gone. Watsons' promotions page now carries only its September 2026 campaign components, and the Mega Sale campaign address returns "no content page found". Do not go looking for that shelf-tag branding — it is no longer the sign to look for.
  2. The deal outlived the branding. Individual Watsons Collection own-brand items still carry a "2nd @ 80%" promotion tag, and the window on those items runs to 23 September 2026. Two we read directly: the Watsons Flexible Oral Thermometer (RM29.90), tagged 27 August–23 September, and the Round Facial Cotton Puff 100's, tagged 23 August–23 September.
  3. The holiday-package giveaway can no longer be confirmed. It was promoted alongside the July campaign whose page has since been withdrawn, and we could not verify entry mechanics, prize breakdown or a draw date on any Watsons channel this run. We have removed it from the offer summary rather than keep repeating an unverifiable prize.

The offer

  • Up to 80% off the 2nd item on selected Watsons Collection products — Watsons' own-brand personal care and beauty range
  • Available in-store nationwide and on the Watsons Malaysia online store
  • Tagged to run to 23 September 2026 on the items we checked
  • Usually two of the same product. Watsons' promotion terms for this mechanic read: *"Buy 1 item at its regular retail price and get the second item with the discount stated"*, with the clause *"this promotion is usually for the same product unless stated otherwise"*
  • With the campaign branding retired, the shelf tag and the online product page are now the only reliable signals that an item is in the offer

How the second-item discount actually works

The mechanic is a multi-buy, not a storewide markdown. You pay full price for the first qualifying Watsons Collection item and the discount lands on the second one, up to a maximum of 80% off. "Up to" is doing real work here: the exact percentage is set per SKU, so some pairs come down 80% and others considerably less. The shelf tag or the online product page is the only reliable place to see which rate applies to the item in your hand.

Worked through, the best case looks like this. Two qualifying items at RM29.90 each, with the second at the full 80% off, means RM29.90 + RM5.98 = RM35.88 for the pair — an effective 40% off the two together, not 80% off your basket. At a more typical 50% second-item rate the same pair is RM29.90 + RM14.95 = RM44.85, or 25% off the pair. Working the maths on the pair rather than on the headline is the single most useful habit for this kind of sale.

Who this suits — and who should skip

Worth it if you already use Watsons Collection products and buy them in repeatable quantities: cotton pads, wet wipes, sheet masks, micellar water, body wash, hand sanitiser. These are consumables with long shelf lives, so a two-for is genuinely money saved rather than money spent early.

Skip it if you are hunting the branded names — CeraVe, Cetaphil, Eucerin, SK-II and the rest are not Watsons Collection and are not part of this mechanic. Skip it too if the second item is something you would not otherwise buy: an 80% discount on an unwanted product is still 20% of its price spent for nothing.

Buying online versus in-store

Both channels run the promotion, but the surrounding economics differ. On the Watsons Malaysia online store, free delivery starts at a minimum spend of RM100 in West Malaysia (T&Cs apply), so a small two-item order will usually carry a shipping fee unless you top it up or pick a collection option. Click & Collect Express lets you collect an online order at a Watsons store in about an hour, which sidesteps delivery charges entirely. Watsons also promotes an app-only 10% on Wednesdays offer, worth checking against the second-item price before you commit either way.

In-store, the advantage is simply that you can see which SKUs carry the promotion tag and how deep each one goes, rather than clicking through listings.

Fine print

  • The 80% second-item discount applies only to selected Watsons Collection items, not storewide — check the shelf tag or the product listing online for which SKUs qualify
  • While stocks last; full terms and conditions apply, per Watsons Malaysia's official promotion page
  • This is separate from Watsons' other concurrent campaigns — and several run shorter. On Watsons Collection lines we also saw Buy 2 Save More (to 30 August), Buy 1 Free 1 and 10X Points (to 31 August), and Member Instant Off Special (to 2 September). If an item carries one of those tags instead, the earlier date is the one that binds
  • Some Watsons Collection tags are member-gated — a "Member @ 5% Off", "Member @ 10% Off" or "Member Instant Off Special" tag needs a Watsons Card. The plain "2nd @ 80%" tag does not
  • The holiday package giveaway promoted with the original July campaign could not be re-verified on 29 August and has been dropped from this writeup

Tips

  • Since the discount is on the *second* item and the terms say it is usually the same product, the value case is buying two of one consumable you restock anyway — not assembling a mixed set. If you want a mixed pair, confirm at the shelf tag that the SKU allows it
  • With the tag dated to 23 September, time is no longer the binding constraint — stock on popular Watsons Collection SKUs is, and the retired campaign branding means fewer shoppers will notice the tag at all
  • Check the Watsons app or website for the current list of qualifying Watsons Collection products before heading to a store, since selection can change through the campaign
  • If you are ordering online anyway, work out whether reaching RM100 for free delivery costs less than the shipping fee on a smaller basket

Check Watsons Malaysia's promotions page for what is currently running, and Watsons' Promotion T&Cs for the exact definition of every promo tag.
