Kuantan does not have the big-name badminton chains of the Klang Valley, and that is good news for anyone who plays. Court time here is among the cheapest we have found in any Malaysian city. On a weekday afternoon you can book a court for RM8 to RM10 an hour, and even the evening rush rarely goes above RM24.
The catch is that the halls are spread out, information is thin, and several venues still take bookings only by phone. This guide covers the six we could verify with a published rate on an official channel. We read every price below on 30 October 2026, on Courtsite's live pricing pop-up, AFA's rate card or IIUM's facility booking portal. Prices are per court per hour unless stated.
How to choose a court in Kuantan
Pick your side of town. Two clusters cover most players. Semambu, north of the town centre, has Pusat Badminton 148 and PlayGround No.6 a short drive apart in the industrial area. Indera Mahkota and the Jalan Gambang side have the Pahang Badminton Association hall and IIUM. R20 sits in Taman Impian Perdana, and Arena DSAMI is in Permatang Badak to the north-west. Kuantan traffic is light by KL standards, but the Jalan Gambang and Jalan Tun Razak roundabouts back up at 6pm.
The 7pm jump is the big number. Every hall here roughly doubles its price in the evening. Pusat 148 goes from RM8 to RM20, PlayGround No.6 from RM9 to RM22, and the association hall from RM12 to RM24. If your group can start at 5pm, two halls charge an in-between rate (RM11 at Pusat 148 and PlayGround No.6, RM15 at R20) that saves real money over a month of weekly games.
Check the minimum booking. Pusat 148 requires two hours on weekday evenings, and R20 sells its 8pm to midnight "golden peak" only in two-hour blocks (RM44) or a three-hour block from 9pm (RM66). Two hours at the association hall at night costs RM48.
Read the refund rule. The Courtsite halls in this list do not refund once a booking is confirmed, and the association hall allows one time change with 48 hours' notice. Pusat 148, on AFA, refunds 100% to your AFA wallet if you cancel through the app more than 48 hours ahead, and 50% between 24 and 48 hours.
Expect fans, not air-conditioning. None of the halls advertises air-conditioning, and Pusat 148 lists an exhaust fan. Kuantan's evenings are humid, especially in the November to February monsoon, so bring a towel and a spare shirt. On the plus side, every venue here is indoors, so rain will not stop play.

- Newest hall: R20 Sports Centre, with 12 carpeted courts and LED lighting; call ahead, as noted below.
- Club tournament or company day: IIUM Kuantan's arena, eight courts under one roof for RM150 an hour by day.
We also looked at Pusat Badminton Prostar in Indera Mahkota and Semambu Badminton Centre in Taman Tunas Jaya. Both appear to be open, but neither had published a rate on its own channel. The prices for them you will see online come from social media videos or directory sites. A WhatsApp message to either will get you a current rate. The Kuantan City Council (MBK) website links its online booking to the association hall below rather than running its own badminton courts.
