> Quick view: this deal is over. Haidilao's RM198 durian mooncake Buy 1 Free 1 ran from 1 September 2026 until Mid-Autumn on 25 September, and Duria's online shop still listed every 2026 mooncake as out of stock when we re-checked on 28 October. Below is the record of what the deal cost, how it compared, and what Haidilao Malaysia is offering instead at the end of October.
What happened to the durian mooncake deal
Haidilao Malaysia launched its first durian mooncake on 1 September 2026: Black Thorn Durian Mooncakes, 6 pieces, RM198, with a free box of 4 Musang King durian mooncakes for every tin. It never printed an end date, only "limited quantities, while stocks last". Its last festive post, on 24 September, was a Mid-Autumn greeting, and its feed since then has moved on to hotpot promotions with no mooncake clearance or extension. With the festival over, treat the deal as finished at every outlet.
The maker's side is closed too. We re-read Duria's online shop on 28 September 2026 and every 2026 mooncake listing, from the RM198 Lunar Melody Box and the Black Gold Ascendant tin to the RM138 Return to the King Signature Musang King tin, showed as out of stock. The only gift box still in stock was an Egg Rolls Gift Set at RM68, down from RM88. A second read of the shop on 28 October 2026 found exactly the same: every mooncake, durian ice cream and snowy-skin dessert out of stock, and the egg rolls still RM68. So there is no durian mooncake left to buy from either brand this year.
What the deal was, for comparing next year
- The tin: six black-skinned Duria Black Thorn Musang King snowy mooncakes stamped with Haidilao's gold "Hi" logo. Haidilao's in-store photos showed Net Weight 360g, or 60g a piece, although the launch poster's rendering read 420g.
- The free box: four pieces of Duria's Coconut Musang King Durian Snowy Skin Mooncake, 240g (60g x 4pcs). Haidilao's caption only said Musang King, but the photos showed the coconut-rolled version.
- How it was sold: over the counter only, from a chest freezer, with no app, website or delivery option. The Zenith Mall outlet's own website printed the price as RM198++, so some tills may have added tax and service charge.
- Where: 15 named outlets. Klang Valley: Sunway Pyramid, One Utama, Sunway Velocity, IOI City Mall, Bangsar Village, Pavilion Bukit Jalil and Setia City Mall. Penang: Gurney Paragon and Queensbay Mall. Johor: Zenith Mall, Sutera Mall and AEON Tebrau City. Plus Dataran Pahlawan in Melaka, Station 18 in Ipoh and Vivacity Megamall in Kuching. Haidilao Pavilion KL and Haidilao Sunway Carnival, both still trading, were left off the list.
How it compared on price
- Haidilao: RM198 for 10 pieces, RM19.80 a piece, or about RM33 per 100g (600g in all).
- Hotel Musang King: our Mid-Autumn guide found Musang King snow skin at RM68 a piece at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Mandarin Oriental, and RM89 at Four Seasons.
- Duria direct: Duria's own shop beat Haidilao all month. Its Black Gold Ascendant tin was RM198 (from RM344) with two free boxes, 12 pieces, until it sold out around 22 September; the Lunar Melody Box replaced it at RM198 (from RM326) with a free six-piece tin, again 12 pieces or RM16.50 a piece, delivered free to West Malaysian city areas. The plain Return to the King tin was RM138 for six, RM23 a piece.
The pattern to remember for 2027: the Haidilao-branded tin was the convenient buy, carried home the same evening, but the maker's own shop gave two more pieces for the same RM198, as long as you ordered before its stock ran out in the final week.
What Haidilao Malaysia is running now
Read from Haidilao Malaysia's Instagram on 28 October 2026. The September offers in the first version of this article (the 29 September Super Tuesday and the Happy Pass voucher packs, which went off sale on 16 October) are over; vouchers already bought stay valid for their 30 or 90 days.
- Light & Energising Set, RM108 for two (nationwide, from 26 October): pick 2 of 4 broths, 3 of 5 meat or seafood dishes and 4 of 6 vegetable dishes, plus 3 fixed items. Haidilao pitches it as a post-workout meal and is printing calorie counts on the menu. It is the cheapest set for two Haidilao has posted this year, RM20 below September's RM128 Green Peppercorn Triple-Fresh Set, which has not appeared in the feed since.
- Johor Bahru Buy 1 Free 1, Monday to Friday, 27 October to 26 November: Snowflake Wagyu half portion Buy 1 Free 1 at Zenith Mall, Sutera Mall and AEON Tebrau City, limited to four portions per table and not combinable with other promotions or vouchers. At Zenith Mall and Sutera Mall only, Da Hong Pao milk tea or lemon tea at RM6.90 a cup, Buy 1 Free 1.
- 21% off food, off-peak, 27 October to 10 November: weekdays before 5pm or after 10pm at Setia City Mall (Shah Alam), Dataran Pahlawan (Melaka), AEON Station (Ipoh) and Vivacity Megamall (Kuching). Food items only, so soup bases, drinks, tax and service charge are excluded, and it does not apply on public holidays.
- Super Tuesday (members, every Tuesday): member-only dishes plus 150 extra Growth Points. Haidilao now posts the week's specials the day before but leaves the prices to the in-store iPad menu.
- Halloween: four limited dishes at every outlet (one-eyed shrimp paste, a "trickster" zucchini dish, pumpkin cakes and baby pumpkin). Dine in costume and post a photo for a free one-eyed shrimp paste, book at least a day ahead for a slap bracelet, or say "Trick or treat, let's hot pot!" at the door for a small gift, all while stocks last.
- Ongoing: Scorpio birthdays can redeem a physical zodiac badge through the Haidilao App until 21 November, and the #MyHaidilaoMoment video challenge runs to 15 December 2026, with an RM30 voucher for showing staff your published post and up to RM30,000 cash for the top videos.
A quick worked example: four friends at Haidilao Setia City Mall at 3pm on a Wednesday order RM180 of food plus RM40 of soup bases and drinks. The 21% comes off the RM180 only, saving RM37.80. The same table at Zenith Mall in Johor Bahru gets nothing off the bill, but two Wagyu half portions for the price of one and, if they order two milk teas, one free, a saving of RM6.90 on the drinks.
Is Haidilao's durian mooncake halal?
It was not certified. Haidilao Malaysia's restaurants do not hold JAKIM halal certification, and the mooncakes were sold over a counter inside them. Neither Haidilao's announcement nor Duria's product pages made a halal claim for these boxes. If certified halal matters, check any brand in JAKIM's Halal Malaysia directory at halal.gov.my before buying.
