A cracked screen is the most common reason anyone in KL walks into a phone repair shop, and the price spread is wider than for almost any other repair. For the same iPhone 15, we found quotes from RM385 to RM2,100. The difference is almost entirely the part.

We read the published prices of seven options in KL and Selangor on 22 October 2026: Apple's own Malaysian price list, an Apple Authorised Service Provider, Samsung's official cost estimator and screen-repair table, and four independent shops that post per-model prices on their websites. Every number below comes from those pages. Shops that only quote over WhatsApp are left out, because there is nothing to check.

How to choose: it is the part, not the shop

Independent shops in Malaysia usually sell screens in grades, and GizmoFix's price list shows the full ladder for one phone. For an iPhone 15 it goes TFT HD RM385, TFT FHD RM455, OLED RM695, soft OLED RM705, Apple RM1,695. What those mean:

  • TFT or LCD panels are the cheapest. They work, but an iPhone 15 left the factory with an OLED screen, so an LCD replacement is usually thicker, less bright and uses more battery. TechFix refuses to fit LCD panels on OLED iPhones for that reason.
  • OLED and soft OLED are aftermarket OLED panels, closer to the original in look and battery use. Soft OLED is the flexible type, which is what Apple uses.
  • Refurbished usually means a genuine Apple panel with new glass bonded on.
  • Genuine is a new Apple part, from Apple or an authorised provider.

Recent iPhones keep a record of replaced parts under Settings, General, About (the Parts and Service History section), and a non-genuine screen or battery can show up there as an unknown part. That matters mostly when you sell the phone. For a phone you plan to keep two more years, a good OLED panel is a reasonable trade.

Batteries follow the same logic. Apple's AppleCare+ terms replace a battery free once it falls below 80% of its original capacity, which is also the point most shops treat as due. Check it under Settings, Battery, Battery Health before you pay anyone.

The genuine-part surprise

If you want a genuine screen, the official route is the cheapest one we found. Apple lists an iPhone 15 screen at RM1,209. Machines, an Apple Authorised Service Provider, lists the same display at RM1,399 plus SST. KissMyMac's genuine 15-series screens are RM1,600 to RM2,100, and GizmoFix's Apple-grade iPhone 15 screen is RM1,695. Independent shops add value in speed (30 to 90 minutes against an appointment at Apple) and convenience, but on price alone Apple wins for genuine parts.

The picture flips for batteries. A compatible iPhone 15 battery is RM239 at GizmoFix and RM299 at TechFix, against RM449 at Apple.

How to pick

  1. Decide on the part first. Genuine for a phone you will resell soon or one under AppleCare+; OLED for a phone you are keeping; LCD only for an old spare.
  2. Check AppleCare+ or Samsung Care+ before anything else. A RM139 screen under AppleCare+ beats every price here.
  3. Back up the phone. Machines charges RM200 for backup and restore; doing it yourself through iCloud or Samsung Cloud costs nothing. Samsung asks for Maintenance Mode to be switched on before handover.
  4. Ask for the warranty in writing. We found 90 days (TechFix), 6 months (KissMyMac screens, GizmoFix's battery promo) and up to 12 months (KissMyMac batteries).
  5. Ask about water resistance. A repaired phone rarely keeps its original water rating unless the seal is replaced, and none of the shops we read promises it.

Switch, the other Apple Authorised Service Provider with Klang Valley branches (Sunway Pyramid, AEON Mall Shah Alam, The Mines drop-off, EkoCheras), does not publish repair prices online, so it is not ranked below.
