> Quick view: Uncle Jack's free-mineral-water Merdeka deal ended on 31 August 2026 and no September campaign has been announced. The best standing deal is breakfast — nasi lemak or bihun siam with black coffee for RM4.99 until 12pm — and the bigger news is three new outlets (Putrajaya, Sungai Bakap, Klang Parade) and 11 branches now JAKIM halal-certified.

What ended: the free-water Merdeka deal

  • From 3 to 31 August 2026, Uncle Jack gave a free 550ml Uncle Jack Natural Mineral Water with a Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken set or a Bihun Siam with Fried Chicken set, both RM9.49
  • It ran at participating Uncle Jack counters inside Giant stores, one bottle per set, while stocks lasted — not at every one of the chain's outlets, as this page originally suggested
  • The bottle was worth little: Uncle Jack's own menu prices mineral water at RM1 as a set add-on (RM1.99 on its own), so the deal took roughly 10% off a RM9.49 meal
  • As of 11 September 2026 there is no successor: nothing new on Uncle Jack's Promotion page, its Instagram or its Facebook page, and no Malaysia Day (16 September) offer announced

What's live now: the RM4.99 breakfast

The "Morning with Uncle Jack" menu beats the dead deal, and unlike it, it is published on Uncle Jack's own Promotion page:

  • Nasi Lemak with black coffee — RM4.99
  • Bihun Siam with black coffee — RM4.99
  • Hash Brown with black coffee — RM4.99
  • Egg Muffin or Chicken Muffin with black coffee — RM6.49 each
  • Served until 12pm daily

Worked example: the breakfast nasi lemak comes without fried chicken — it's the plate with egg and sambal — so compare it with buying the same two things separately. Uncle Jack's menu lists nasi lemak at RM3.50 and hot black coffee at RM2.99, RM6.49 together, so breakfast saves RM1.50. That is more than the free water was worth, and it runs every day.

The catch is opening hours. Breakfast stops at 12pm, but 13 of the 38 outlets on Uncle Jack's own locator don't open until 10am — the Giant counters in Bandar Kinrara, Kemuning Utama, Klang, Kota Damansara, Putra Heights, Seri Kembangan, Shah Alam Stadium and Subang Jaya among them — so there you get two hours. For a proper breakfast run, pick an early opener: TMC Bangsar (7am), or 8am outlets such as Bandar Baru Ampang, Mercato Tropicana Metropark, TMC YouCity, Giant Desa Petaling, Giant Ulu Kelang, Giant Senawang, Giant Tambun, Giant Bayan Baru, Giant Leisure Mall and Mercato Garden Square.

  • Student discount at Seri Iskandar: Uncle Jack's 8 September post for its drive-thru outlet at the Petronas station in Bandar Universiti, Seri Iskandar, advertises 10% off for students. It doesn't say what proof is needed or whether other outlets honour it, so carry a student card and treat it as Seri Iskandar-only

One piece of fine print: Uncle Jack's website gives two prices for the same chicken. The family-set poster lists 5 pieces à la carte at RM24.95 — the same "normal price" July's Syukur 5 promotion was quoted against — while the website's menu page lists 5 pieces at RM28.99 and describes the RM39.99 Sharing Combo with large mashed potato instead of fries and drinks. The counter board is what you pay, so check it before ordering a family set.

Three new outlets since August

None of these is on Uncle Jack's own outlet list yet, so the real count is at least 41:

  • Giant Destina Putrajaya — Lot G-25, Ground Floor, Destina Putrajaya.1, Jalan P7, Presint 7. Opened 13 August 2026 with Giant's new store, which connects directly to MRT Putrajaya and KLIA Transit. Giant announced opening offers for civil servants and retirees at Uncle Jack, Mercato Café and Kyojin Sushi here, but published no discount rate or dates
  • Hentian Sungai Bakap, Penang — beside the Petronas station, opened 3 September 2026, with a drive-thru and Mercato Cafe & Bakery and Kyojin Sushi on site. It is Penang's second outlet after Giant Bayan Baru
  • Klang Parade — Lot G 27-30, opened 8 September 2026 alongside Mercato Cafe & Bakery, Kyojin Sushi and a nasi campur counter. Uncle Jack advertised opening-day deals without listing them

The locator's 38 outlets span eight states: Selangor 16, Kuala Lumpur 6, Johor 6, Negeri Sembilan 3, Perak 3, Kedah 2, Penang 1 and Terengganu 1 (Giant Dungun). Add Putrajaya, and there is still nothing in Melaka, Pahang, Kelantan, Perlis, Sabah or Sarawak. One locator error to know about: its "Giant Shah Alam Seksyen 7" entry prints the Dungun address. JAKIM's record puts the Seksyen 7 outlet at Jalan Plumbum T7/T, Pusat Komersial Seksyen 7.

Is Uncle Jack halal? Only 11 branches are certified

JAKIM's e-Halal directory (checked 11 September 2026) lists 11 Uncle Jack premises with Malaysian halal certification, all held by GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and valid until dates between March and August 2028:

  • Selangor (9): Giant Bandar Kinrara, Giant Kemuning Utama, Giant Klang (Persiaran Batu Nilam), Giant Kota Damansara, Giant Putra Heights, Giant Shah Alam Stadium, Shah Alam Seksyen 7, Suria Jaya (Padang Jawa) and TMC YouCity
  • Negeri Sembilan (1): Giant Nilai
  • Perak (1): Petronas Bandar Universiti, Seri Iskandar

That is up from the five branches Uncle Jack announced as certified in June 2026. It also means there is no certified Uncle Jack in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Kedah, Penang, Terengganu or Putrajaya yet, and none of the three new outlets is on the list. If certification matters to you, search "UNCLE JACK" under Premis Makanan on the Halal Malaysia portal before you go — the list has more than doubled since June.

How to catch the next deal

Uncle Jack has run a campaign almost every month this year. There was a halal-certification celebration to 20 July (5 pieces for RM19.95), then Syukur 5 and Belanja Kawan from 9 to 20 July (50% off a second Set B, C or D), then the August free water. None of them appeared on Uncle Jack's own website, whose Promotion page still carries a promotion that ended on 30 November 2025. New offers and openings show up first on Instagram (@unclejackmalaysia).

Who it suits, and who should skip

  • Suits: Giant shoppers and commuters after a sub-RM5 breakfast before noon, students in Seri Iskandar, and drivers passing Sungai Bakap on the Penang mainland
  • Skip for now: anyone in Kuala Lumpur, Johor or Penang who needs a JAKIM-certified premises, and anyone ordering a family set without checking the counter price first
