> Quick view: Freeport A'Famosa Outlet in Alor Gajah has two things for families this month. On Saturday 26 September it hosts a Peranakan MOONLITE Festival for Mid-Autumn, with a lantern parade and a free lantern giveaway. Until 30 September, PONEY at Lot 20 gives a free Faye or Finn plush, worth RM129, when you spend RM199 in one receipt. Freeport's own Glow-O-Ween night follows on 31 October, from RM25.

Freeport A'Famosa Outlet is the open-air outlet mall next to A'Famosa Resort in Simpang Empat, Alor Gajah, built like a Dutch street with a windmill, a carousel and a lake. The mall says it is 10 minutes from the North-South Expressway interchange and 30 minutes from Melaka City, and it opens daily from 10am to 10pm. This September it is running a Mid-Autumn evening of its own and promoting a kids' gift-with-purchase at PONEY, and it announced both on its Facebook page this week.

The Peranakan MOONLITE Festival, Saturday 26 September

Freeport announced the Peranakan MOONLITE Festival (月映娘惹) on 9 September as a Mid-Autumn celebration with a Peranakan twist. Its post lists five activities:

  • A fan colouring contest
  • A Nyonya kebaya fashion showcase
  • A lantern parade
  • A Moonlite picnic party
  • A free lantern giveaway

The festival falls on Saturday 26 September 2026, the day after Mid-Autumn itself. Mid-Autumn is Friday 25 September this year and is not a public holiday, so the Saturday is the easier night for most families. Freeport's dress code is short: dress Peranakan, carry a lantern and picnic under the moon.

The post gives the date but no start time and no entry fee. The mall is free to walk into, and the lantern giveaway is billed as free. Sign-ups go through Freeport's registration form, a Google Form that asks you to sign in with a Google account before it opens. For times and contest rules, Freeport's post gives a WhatsApp line, +60 11-1600 0222.

PONEY's free Faye or Finn plush, 7 to 30 September

PONEY, the Malaysian kidswear brand, has an outlet store at Lot 20. From 7 to 30 September 2026, spend RM199 or more there in a single receipt and you can take home one of two horse plush toys: Faye, the cream one, or Finn, the brown one. PONEY's poster values each at RM129. It is while stocks last, and terms and conditions apply.

How to claim it:

  1. Go to PONEY at Lot 20 during mall hours.
  2. Build a basket of RM199 or more and pay for it on one receipt. Two receipts of RM100 each do not qualify.
  3. Pick Faye or Finn at the counter. The post offers one plush per qualifying receipt. If you want both, ask whether a RM398 receipt counts twice before you pay, because the poster does not say.
  4. If your child has their heart set on one character, go early in the month. Neither is guaranteed to last until 30 September.

What RM199 buys at PONEY

The outlet sets its own prices, but PONEY's online shop gives a fair idea of the range. On 11 September 2026, poney.com.my listed kids' socks at RM13, logo tees at RM35 to RM39, a baby sleepsuit marked down to RM29 from RM59, girls' skinny jeans at RM39 (from RM119), and dresses at RM119 to RM129. The median price across the first 250 products was RM39.

  • Five tees at RM39 come to RM195, which is RM4 short. Add one pair of RM13 socks and you are at RM208, with a plush.
  • A RM119 dress and a RM89 pair of Bermuda shorts make RM208, over the line in two items.
  • Markdowns work against you. At RM29 a piece you need seven items to pass RM199. Add up the basket before you queue.

The RM129 is PONEY's own valuation. Treat the plush as a bonus on clothes you were going to buy anyway, not a reason to spend RM199.

Glow-O-Ween on 31 October, and the 80% headline

Freeport's homepage already advertises its next event: the Glow-O-Ween Adventure on Saturday 31 October 2026, from RM25. Booking is through another Google Form linked from the homepage, and it also asks for a Google sign-in. The homepage does not say what the RM25 tier includes, so message the WhatsApp line before you build a Halloween weekend around it.

The mall's Special Deals page carries one banner, "Discounts up to 80%", with an asterisk and a hotline, +606-552 8961. Some older listings still quote 90%. Read it as a ceiling on selected lines, not a storewide rate.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

Good for: families with children from newborn to primary-school age, the range PONEY dresses; anyone already in Melaka for the Mid-Autumn weekend; and Peranakan culture fans, who can eat at Restaurant Peranakan Place inside the mall before the parade. The mall directory also lists Tiny Button, Toy World and Momosasa Playland for younger children, and Tealive, ZUS Coffee, Auntie Anne's and Sub 18 Gelato for snacks.

Skip it if: you would drive from KL just for a free lantern. Freeport is 1.5 to 2 hours from KL each way, as our outlet mall guide notes, so the evening works best as part of a Melaka weekend. Skip PONEY's offer if your children have outgrown kids' sizes, or if you can only reach RM199 by buying things you do not need.

Fine print that trips people up

  • One receipt only. PONEY's RM199 must be on a single receipt, so pay for siblings' clothes together.
  • The plush runs out. It is while stocks last, and either character can go before the end of the month.
  • Old e-vouchers. Freeport's "Let's Get Rewarded" page still lists 20 brand e-vouchers, including RM10 off RM200 at PONEY and RM50 off RM250 at PUMA. The four we opened (PONEY, PUMA, AKEMI and Marrybrown) all say valid until 31 December 2022. Do not plan a basket around them.
  • Google sign-in. Both event forms need a Google account. If you do not use one, the WhatsApp line is the other way in.
  • Open-air mall. Much of Freeport is outdoors, and so is a lantern parade. Bring an umbrella along with the lantern.
