Pickleball has gone from a curiosity to a booking-app habit in the Klang Valley in about two years. The Malaysia Pickleball Association, which describes itself as the national governing body, now counts more than 400,000 players and more than 472 venues on its own site. That growth has produced a fragmented market in which almost every operator prices differently, defines "peak" differently and treats tax differently.
So instead of a list of nice courts, this is a price check. On 13 September 2026 we read the current rate card of each operator below on its own website, or on the booking page its website or Instagram links to (Courtsite, PodPlay, PlayByPoint or playsportstogether.com). Where a booking app showed a different figure from an older price block on the same listing, we used the live "Opening hours & Pricing" panel. On 20 September 2026 we re-read the panels for The Pickle Grounds, Hyprground, The Pickle Fence and X Park: the first two operators' headline rates were unchanged, and the changes we did find are set out below. On 20 October 2026 we re-read the panels for The Pickle Fence, Hyprground Section 19 and Kuchai Lama, P3 Courts, X Park and Pickle & Co, and The Pickle Grounds' own rate card: base rates were unchanged everywhere except X Park, and both promos had been extended.
Three things that change the price more than the venue
1. Whether 6% SST is on top. The Pickle Grounds says plainly that "all prices are not inclusive of 6% SST", and the Courtsite panels for Hyprground, P3 Courts and X Park carry the same note. Pickle & Co, The Pickle Fence and Grand Rally do not state it either way, and PickleJam's checkout showed no tax line on a RM60 booking. When you compare a RM60 court with a RM55 court, check which one adds tax.
2. When peak starts. An 8pm booking is peak everywhere. A 4.30pm booking is peak at Hyprground (from 4pm) but off-peak at The Pickle Grounds and X Park (until 5pm), and still off-peak at P3 Courts' Standard courts until 7pm.
3. Court type. Most operators sell two or three tiers. At P3 Courts a weekday evening hour costs RM55 on a Standard court, RM70 on a Premium court and RM80 on a Suite court, all in the same building.
What four players actually pay
A two-hour doubles game at 8pm on a weekday, the most common booking, at each operator's standard covered court:
- Hyprground S19 Community Court: RM100, or RM106 with SST (RM26.50 each)
- P3 Courts Standard: RM110, or RM116.60 with SST
- The Pickle Grounds outdoor: RM110, or RM116.60 with SST
- Grand Rally Lounge: RM110, SST not stated
- PickleJam and Pickle & Co: RM120, no tax shown or stated
- The Pickle Fence Pro: RM130, SST not stated
- X Park, Tuesday to Friday: RM120 on its two-hour evening block, or RM127.20 with SST (RM31.80 each). On a Monday the same two hours are RM70, or RM74.20 with SST
- The Pickle Grounds covered and Hyprground Kuchai Lama: RM140, or RM148.40 with SST (RM37.10 each)
The same game on a weekday morning costs roughly a fifth to almost half less, depending on the venue, which matters if you have flexible hours.
What changed on 1 November
Both promos that outlived Malaysia Day ended on Saturday 31 October 2026, as their booking panels said they would. When we checked on 1 November 2026:
- The Pickle Fence, Subang Jaya is back to its normal weekend rate: a Pro court is RM65 an hour and a Tourney court RM80, so two hours of doubles on a Pro court is RM130, about RM32.50 each. Its website banner and Courtsite announcement still show older, already-expired promos, and no new one was posted.
- Hyprground weekday 7am to 4pm courts are back to RM50 on the Section 19 Private Lounge and at Kuchai Lama. The Section 19 Community Court was RM35 with or without the promo, so it is unchanged. Prices still exclude 6% SST.
- Hyprground Section 19 has a booking cut-off. A Courtsite announcement posted around 30 October reads: "Bookings are only available until 30 November 2026", with enquiries to +60 11 1248 3503. It does not say why. If you want December slots at Section 19, call before you plan around it; Kuchai Lama and Cyberjaya carry no such notice. Hyprground's own website now also lists a Sungai Buloh venue as coming soon.
Public holiday rates return with Deepavali. There has been no public holiday in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor since Malaysia Day. Deepavali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, with Monday 9 November the replacement holiday in both, and Selangor adds the Sultan of Selangor's birthday on Friday 11 December. Most venues here charge their peak or weekend rate on a public holiday, so book that Monday expecting the full weekend price unless a venue posts a new holiday promo.
What changed at X Park since we first checked
X Park Sunway South Quay is the one rate card in this article that reads differently now than it did on 13 September, in four ways worth knowing before you book:
- Its weekend line now publishes RM50 an hour for 8am to 5pm only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, with no evening weekend rate shown at all. Do not assume the old all-day RM50 still covers an 8pm Saturday game; ask the venue first.
- Its Monday line is now explicit that the same money buys one hour or two: RM50 per hour or RM50 per 2 hours before 5pm, RM70 per hour or RM70 per 2 hours after it. That makes a Monday evening the cheapest two-hour court in this article at RM74.20 with SST, about RM18.55 each for four players.
- Since our 20 September check it has added a Tuesday-to-Friday evening block: RM120 per 2 hours after 5pm, instead of RM140 for two single hours. With SST that is RM127.20, or RM31.80 each, so a Monday evening still saves the group RM53. Daytime on those days is still RM50 an hour with no block price.
- X Park's own website now describes the venue as open 24 hours, with pre-booking required for late-night slots, while the pickleball rate card still stops at midnight. If you want a 1am court, book ahead and confirm the price.
The council option
Public courts are cheaper but harder to book and to verify. A written answer in the Selangor State Assembly in 2025 said that MBPJ provided free pickleball courts at SS25/20 and SS2/80 in Petaling Jaya; we have not confirmed that both are still in use. The Star reported in February 2025 that DBKL community halls charge RM25 an hour for open courts and RM40 for enclosed ones. DBKL's own booking system did not load for us, so treat those as 2025 press figures.
How to pick
- For a regular weekly game: price the exact slot, including SST, for two hours. The cheapest venue at 10am is rarely the cheapest at 8pm.
- For beginners: a covered court is worth more than a view. Pickle & Co's courts are semi-open-air and its reviews mention wind and afternoon glare; The Pickle Fence is a fully indoor hall and X Park a large covered one.
- For rain: The Pickle Grounds' outdoor courts are RM15 an hour cheaper than its covered ones. Hyprground Kuchai Lama charges the same for its outdoor Courtyard as for its covered courts, but publishes a rain policy with make-good sessions. Read the policy before you book an outdoor slot in the monsoon months.
- For a group that plays late: P3 Courts runs to 2am and drops its Standard courts to RM30 after 11pm; Hyprground runs to 1am.
- For cancellations: Grand Rally allows rescheduling only, not cancellation. Check each app's policy before paying.
