Sushi King has put its payday deal, Bonus Musim Gaji, on its official promotions page. The mechanic is simple: pick any five plates with a red rim off the kaiten belt or the menu, and the five are billed as one RM17.99 bundle. Red plates normally cost RM5 each, going by the brand's own crossed-out price of RM25 for five. The deal brings that to about RM3.60 a plate before tax. Sushi King says you can choose from up to 20 red-plate varieties. The campaign artwork shows inari, a mayo-topped tamago roll, aburi (seared) nigiri, a gunkan topped with tobiko, and ebi nigiri, but the belt on the day decides what you actually get.

How it works, step by step

  1. Go on the right days. The deal runs 24 to 30 September 2026, every day. Unlike Sushi King's RM14.90 value meals and the members' Happy Hour, there is no weekday-only or public-holiday rule on this page, so Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September both count.
  2. Pick a West Malaysia restaurant. Participating outlets in Peninsular Malaysia only. Langkawi is left out, as are the small Sushi King Kiosks, and East Malaysian outlets are not part of it. Check the store locator before you head out.
  3. Sit down. It is dine-in only, so takeaway and delivery orders don't qualify.
  4. Choose five normal red plates. Any mix works, as long as they are regular red-plate items. A red plate that is already on its own promotion is excluded.
  5. Pay the bundle price plus tax. RM17.99 is before the 10% service charge and 6% service tax.

What you'll actually pay

Sushi King's terms add 10% service charge and 6% service tax, which works out to multiplying the menu price by about 1.166.

  • One bundle (5 plates, 10 pieces): RM17.99, about RM20.98 with tax. At the usual RM25 you would pay about RM29.15, so you save roughly RM8.17.
  • Two people, two bundles (10 plates): RM35.98, about RM41.95 with tax, against about RM58.30 at the normal price. That is roughly RM16.35 saved.
  • Family of four, four bundles (20 plates): RM71.96, about RM83.91 with tax, against about RM116.60. Around RM32.69 stays in your pocket.

The terms don't set a cap on bundles per person or per bill, only that redemption is subject to stock availability. If a favourite runs out on the belt, the brand may swap in an item of equal value.

Bonus Musim Gaji or Happy Hour?

Sushi King members also get 20% off everything on weekdays from 3pm to 6pm through the Happy Hour promotion. On red plates the payday deal still wins: five red plates at Happy Hour cost RM20 before tax (about RM23.32), against RM17.99 (about RM20.98) on Bonus Musim Gaji. Happy Hour only pulls ahead when most of your bill is hot food, bento or premium plates, because the 20% applies across the menu. Both promotions say they cannot be combined with other offers, so expect to use one or the other on a bill. Happy Hour also needs both ordering and payment done between 3pm and 6pm.

Who it's good for, and who should skip it

It suits sushi-first diners who happily eat mostly red plates, students and office workers waiting for payday, and families who want a weekend meal. Because there's no membership requirement on the page, first-time visitors can use it too.

Skip it if you're in Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan or Langkawi, if you only order takeaway, or if your usual order is premium plates and sashimi. Points collectors should note that Smile Points are not earned or redeemed on the bundle, only on the normal-price items on the same bill.

Fine print that trips people up

  • Price shown is before tax. Budget about RM20.98 per bundle, not RM17.99.
  • Promotional red plates are excluded. Only "normal" red-plate items count.
  • Vouchers: Sushi King Cash Vouchers and Fan Club Vouchers can still be used. Other coupons and discounts cannot.
