Cinema Ticket Prices in Malaysia 2026: What Every Surviving Chain Actually Charges, From RM10 to RM80
Malaysia lost two cinema chains in eighteen months. mmCineplexes shut all 13 halls on 22 September 2025 after its parent entered creditors' voluntary liquidation, and MBO Cinemas closed its remaining eight sites in March 2026. We checked every surviving operator's own website on 7 September 2026, all the way through to the ticket-type screen, and found that the two chains everyone dismisses as obscure are the two that print their prices most plainly. Dadi Cinema shows a ringgit figure beside every showtime before you click anything. Mega Cineplex reveals adult, twin and Premier Hall prices two clicks in, with no login. Only one surviving chain genuinely publishes nothing. Here is the full rate card, from a RM13 Wednesday in Sungai Petani to an RM80 seat in Johor Bahru.
Penang Attraction Prices 2026: Four of Ten Charge Malaysians Less, and Penang Bird Park's 20% Online Discount Is Locals-Only
Penang is often described as a place where locals pay less, and on four of the ten attractions we priced it is emphatically true — but two of those four are the small George Town museums that most Penang lists skip. A MyKad adult pays RM16 for a return trip on the Penang Hill funicular where a visitor pays RM40, and a MyKad senior rides the express lane for RM8 while a non-MyKad senior pays RM60 for the same seat. Penang Bird Park's own online store cuts a Malaysian adult from RM50 to RM40 and leaves the RM65 foreign ticket untouched. Wonderfood Museum charges a local adult RM20 against a foreign adult's RM30, and Dark Mansion charges a MyKad adult RM23 online against RM30 for a foreign visitor. The other six have no nationality tier at all: Entopia is RM65 for an adult whether the ticket is bought on the "MyKad Special" or the "Standard" tab, ESCAPE and Tech Dome and The TOP price by age alone, and Pinang Peranakan Mansion charges everyone RM30. Genting Highlands Attraction Prices 2026: The Booking Window That Halves a Ticket, and the Museum That Is Packing for Melaka
Almost every price quoted for Genting Highlands is the wrong one. Resorts World Genting runs two rate cards at nearly every gate, one for Malaysians and one for everyone else, and a third ladder on top of that for anyone who books at least a day ahead. The gap is not small. A Genting SkyWorlds adult ticket is RM88 booked online by a Malaysian and RM168 bought at the counter on the day, which is exactly what a foreign visitor pays online. Skytropolis has a Pahang MyKad rate of RM54 that no aggregator prints. Snow World is RM88 with a MyKad and RM118 without. We read every official rate card on the hill this run, worked out what each gate really costs, and checked what is actually still trading — including the Ripley's museum whose own website has already moved to Melaka while the rest of its Genting complex keeps selling tickets.
