The Verdict on Merdeka Day Itself
This page has tracked four Merdeka Month chain campaigns since 6 August. Every one was re-checked on the brand's own site on 31 August 2026 — Merdeka Day. Here is where they stand as the day closes:
- AEON Retail — the Merdeka campaign ends tonight. The campaign page is now running a "3 Days" countdown card set, and every catalogue on it is dated to 31 August.
- MINISO — ends tonight, with no successor discount campaign published on any MINISO Malaysia channel.
- Harvey Norman — still live, two days left. The countdown clock on the Merdeka Super Sale page reads 2 days as of this check.
- Samsung — still live and by far the longest runway, to 30 September, with redemption open until 15 October.
Two of the four are over by breakfast tomorrow. What follows is what each one is actually worth today, and what replaces it.
AEON: The Merdeka Contest Dies Tonight. The RM10 One Does Not.
AEON's Merdeka Shop & Win is the headline the campaign was built on — spend RM80 in a single receipt, scan the campaign QR code, submit the receipt, and go into a weekly draw for a 1g Bunga Raya fine gold bar, 69 winners over four weekly rounds. That contest closes with the campaign tonight, and so do the Merdeka RM1 Crazy Deals, the Flavour of MY catalogue runs and the Merdeka catalogues at AEON Style Supermarket and MaxValu Prime, all of which are dated 14–31 August 2026 in their own artwork.
What almost nobody has connected is that AEON is running a second contest on a far lower bar, and it is not a Merdeka campaign at all. The full terms and conditions PDF published on aeonretail.com.my sets out the AEON x SPayLater "Shop Smart, Win Bigger" contest, 23 July to 25 September 2026:
- Minimum spend is RM10 in a single receipt — an eighth of the Merdeka contest's RM80 bar.
- You must pay with SPayLater. Paying from your ShopeePay wallet balance does not qualify — that exclusion is written into the eligibility clause, and it is the trap most likely to cost someone an entry.
- Entries are drawn in two rounds. Round 2 is the live one: qualifying purchases from 24 August to 25 September 2026, winners announced 31 October 2026 — 25 Supermarket Sweep winners and 50 winners of an RM200 SPayLater voucher.
- The Grand Prize is a five-minute Supermarket Sweep capped at RM2,000 of trolley value. Anything above RM2,000 you either pay the difference on or put back. Electricals, Home Coordy items, all perishables (fresh vegetables, fruit, seafood, meat, eggs, deli and dairy), non-halal items and all beer, wine and liquor are excluded from the Sweep. Travel and accommodation to the assigned store are the winner's own cost.
- Participating stores are AEON Stores, AEON Electrical Shop Taman Equine, AEON STYLE Supermarket Setia EcoHill, AEON MaxValu Prime, AEON Wellness, Daiso Japan by AEON, AEON Petemo Petlife and Tsutaya Bookstore AEON Tebrau City. myAEON2go online and AEON BiG hypermarkets are excluded — so the AEON BiG run that qualified for the Merdeka contest does not qualify for this one.
- Excluded spend is long and worth reading before you assume a receipt counts: gift vouchers and e-gift vouchers, bill payments and reloads (Touch 'n Go, prepaid), tobacco, non-merchandise items such as paper bags, AEON Member Plus Visa and AEON Wallet top-ups, membership renewals and card replacements, Molly Fantasy, delivery, repair, service and instalment charges, and bulk or wholesale purchases.
AEON's next campaign is also already up: the Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 page is live and carries mooncake gift sets, a physical mooncake voucher and the same SPayLater contest. Two mooncake weekend-special cards on that page — a buy-4-free-1 and a 15%-off — are dated 28–31 August in their own artwork filenames, so those close tonight along with everything Merdeka.
Harvey Norman: Two Days Left, and the Outlet List Has Moved
The Merdeka Super Sale page is live and states its own terms plainly: 30 July to 2 September 2026, "top 50 super deals, up to RM3,500 instant rebates, and RM2,000 TNG eWallet credits", in-store and online. The countdown timer on the page confirms it — two days and change at the time of this check.
Prices on the sale rail today, with Harvey Norman's own before-and-after figures:
- Hisense 1.0HP R32 Inverter Air Conditioner — RM1,189, was RM1,899
- Toshiba 530L Side By Side Refrigerator — RM2,442, was RM3,699
- Hilker Klose V Mattress, Queen — RM3,999, was RM8,469
- LG 65-inch Mini RGB evo AI MRGB86 2026 4K Smart TV — RM5,597, was RM7,899
- Honor Pad X8b 4G LTE 8GB/256GB — RM997, was RM1,199
The Factory Direct Merdeka Sale running alongside it is also still live, listing 70 products at up to 80% off. This is where the page has changed since we last checked: it no longer names Citta Mall, Ampang Point and Paradigm Mall JB. The store-specific banners on the current listing read Mid Valley KL Flagship "Merdeka Savings Bonanza" and a Vivacity Megamall five-day in-store warehouse sale in Kuching. Sample Factory Direct prices: a Haier 65-inch UHD 4K 2026 Google TV at RM2,397 (was RM2,599), an LG 65-inch NANO 4K UHD AI NU85 at RM2,797 (was RM3,599), and a Sony BRAVIA 7 II 75-inch at RM11,997 (was RM15,999) carrying a separate Sony Merdeka RM1,000 Touch 'n Go eWallet credit.
Treat the outlet line as the thing to check before you drive anywhere: Harvey Norman rotates which stores carry the Factory Direct stock, and the page does not print a store list at all.
Samsung: The Only One With a Full Month Left
Samsung Malaysia's Dari Kita Untuk Kita 2026 runs 1 July to 30 September 2026, with Touch 'n Go eWallet credit redemption open 1 July to 15 October 2026. It is a gift-with-purchase structure rather than a discount, and it stacks in three layers:
- Gift with purchase — up to RM1,600 in Touch 'n Go eWallet credit on selected TVs, sound devices and home appliances, plus a Slim Fit Cam worth RM499 and, on The Frame, a customisable bezel worth up to RM899.
- Buy more, get more — add a product from a different category for RM200, a second for RM300, a third for RM400, and up to RM500 on the top tier.
- Pairing bonus — a further RM300 on a qualifying TV-and-soundbar set, or RM500 on a washer-and-dryer set.
The correction: the showcase bundle on Samsung's page is now advertised at total rewards worth up to RM3,799, not the RM3,899 this page previously carried. Samsung's own worked example is an 85-inch Micro RGB R95H TV (up to RM1,300 credit) plus a Slim Fit Camera worth RM499, a Q-Series HW-Q990H soundbar (RM300) and a Bespoke AI front-load washer and dryer (RM500) — RM2,100 in eWallet credit, a gift worth up to RM499, RM400 for the cross-category purchases, RM300 for the TV-and-soundbar pairing and RM500 for the washer-and-dryer pairing.
Highest single credit visible on the site today is RM1,100 on the 83-inch OLED S90H, listed at RM23,229 against RM27,599. RM1,000 credits sit on the 75-inch Micro RGB R95H and the 77-inch OLED S95H. If your budget is nearer the bottom of the range, the 43-inch Mini LED M70H is RM1,699 against RM2,199 and the 75-inch The Frame Pro LS03HW is RM10,699 against RM12,999.
MINISO: Ends Tonight, Nothing Published to Follow It
MINISO's Merdeka Sale — buy-one-free-one on selected iMeilly press-on nails and 31% off selected FIFA, Coca-Cola and The Legend of Hei collectibles — ran 5 to 31 August 2026 and stops tonight.
We checked for a successor and found none published. MINISO Malaysia's Linktree lists only MiniFriend Rewards, the outlet locator, its Shopee and Lazada stores and its social accounts — no campaign. Its Facebook post on Merdeka Day itself is a Selamat Hari Merdeka greeting with no offer attached, and its Instagram highlights are IP collections (a Sanrio pop-up, MINISO FRIENDS, MINISO LAND, Harry Potter) rather than a sale. MINISO also does not operate a Malaysian e-commerce site — the .com.my domain does not resolve — so its own channels are the only place a campaign would appear.
That is a finding, not an absence: as of Merdeka Day, MINISO has published nothing to replace the sale that ends tonight.
The Pattern: What Survives a Merdeka Deadline
Across all four, the same rule holds that has held everywhere else this month. Nothing pinned to 31 August outlives 31 August. The two campaigns with runway left are the two that were never tied to Merdeka Day in the first place — Samsung's runs to a calendar quarter end, and AEON's surviving contest is a payment-partner promotion that happens to overlap Merdeka Month. If a poster stops at Merdeka Day, it means it, and no retailer in this set has ever quietly extended one.
The practical version: if you want an offer you can still use next week, look for the end date first and the Merdeka branding second.
How to Stack These Sensibly
- Combine a store sale with a bank or wallet promotion. Buying during Harvey Norman's Merdeka Super Sale on a card carrying its own cashback layers a storewide discount with a separate benefit — but read both sets of terms, and check the card promotion is still in date. Merdeka bank pages lapse fast; three of the original entries on this list were bank or resort campaigns that died mid-month.
- Check the payment method, not just the spend. AEON's SPayLater contest is the clearest example on this page: the right amount on the wrong payment rail earns nothing.
- Check for caps and quotas. Samsung's rewards are explicitly "while stocks last and on a first-come, first-served basis", and the eWallet credit is redeemed separately from the purchase, on its own 15 October deadline.
- Don't assume a Merdeka label means the biggest discount of the year. Harvey Norman's steepest cuts on the sale rail today are mattresses and homeware, not the electronics the campaign fronts with.
What We Removed Earlier, and Why
This list first ran on 6 August 2026 with seven entries. Three came out on 13 August and have not returned: Public Bank's Merdeka & Malaysia Day Sale page returned a "Page Not Found" and no Merdeka promotion appeared in its Latest Promotions listing; Maybank's Merdeka offers page carried a "This promotion has expired" notice over a 2025 campaign, with its other Merdeka page a 2023 one; and Resorts World Genting's only Merdeka posts were the 2024 and 2025 editions. Re-checked again today, none of the three has published a 2026 Merdeka campaign. A shorter accurate list beats a padded one.
