> Quick view: AEON turned 42 and stacked five separate promotions under one banner between 1 September and 31 October 2026. The one anyone can use is Spend & Win: RM42 in a single receipt is one entry in a draw for 1,000 cabin cases and 42 Batik Air ticket prizes, and spending more on that receipt buys you nothing extra. The one almost nobody will notice is that VIP Day reaches only 21 named stores, three per Saturday, and on that day the voucher rate at General Merchandise is double the supermarket rate. The mechanics pull against each other, and this is where.
Five campaigns wearing one banner
AEON Co. (M) Bhd is 42 this year and has put the whole celebration on one page, aeonretail.com.my/aeon42anniversary, stamped 3 September 2026. What sits there is not a promotion. It is five, with five date ranges, four different minimum spends, and at least one place where AEON's own two documents disagree.
The shape of it, before the detail:
- Spend & Win with Batik Air, 1 September to 31 October 2026, minimum RM42 in a single receipt.
- The "Celebrate Bigger, Save Better" anniversary catalogues, 3 to 30 September 2026, up to 50% off.
- AEON VIP Day, seven selected Saturdays between 5 September and 24 October 2026, three stores each, minimum RM100.
- Birthday Bash, every Sunday in September, and every Saturday in September at AEON Kota Bharu.
- The limited edition anniversary shopping bag, a new design every week from 3 September, minimum RM150.
Four of the five are still open as of 8 September 2026. The 5 September VIP Day round has already been and gone.
Spend & Win: everything above RM42 is wasted
This is the mechanic worth understanding properly, because it behaves the opposite way to how people assume a spend-and-win works.
The terms are published as a five page PDF linked from the campaign page. Clause 3.1(b) says each qualifying receipt entitles you to one entry. Clause 3.4 removes any doubt: each qualifying receipt is entitled to one entry only, regardless of the total amount spent in that receipt, the RM42 must be reached in a single receipt, and multiple receipts cannot be combined to reach it.
Read that twice. A RM420 receipt is one entry. Ten RM42 receipts are ten entries. Same money, ten times the chances.
The prize pool is built entirely around the number 42. One grand prize of a pair of return economy tickets to Tokyo with Batik Air. Forty-one consolation flight prizes to selected destinations in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. And 1,000 luggage prizes, drawn at 125 a week, which the poster identifies as a Zootopia2 20-inch cabin case in red or blue.
The luggage is the realistic target. Forty-two flight winners nationwide over two months is a lottery. One thousand cases is a real number, and clause 4.5 caps you at one for the whole campaign, so there is no point stacking receipts into a single week hoping for two. Each week's draw runs on that week's entries only, which is an argument for entering across the run rather than in one burst.
One arithmetic wrinkle worth raising at customer service if you are timing entries: 1,000 divided by 125 is eight weekly draws, while 1 September to 31 October is a little over eight and a half weeks. AEON does not publish where the week boundaries fall.
The contradiction between AEON's own two documents
The Spend & Win poster says, in large type, "41 PAIRS OF TICKETS TO OTHER DESTINATIONS", return economy class by Batik Air.
The terms PDF says something different. Clause 3.1 lists "Forty-one (41) return Economy Class tickets to selected destinations". Clause 6.2 repeats it word for word. Clause 4.2 says the draw produces 41 consolation prize winners.
Forty-one tickets shared among forty-one winners is one seat each. Forty-one pairs is eighty-two. The poster and the terms cannot both be right, and clause 7.13 of the terms states that the terms prevail over any representation in promotional material. On AEON's own rules, the PDF wins and you should not assume you are bringing anyone.
Where the receipt actually counts
Spend & Win covers AEON MALL tenants and AEON's retail businesses: AEON Stores, AEON STYLE Supermarket, MaxValu Prime, AEON Wellness, Daiso by AEON, Tsutaya Bookstore at AEON Mall Tebrau City, Petemo Pet Shop and online orders through myAEON2go. The participating logo strip on the poster matches that list.
AEON BiG is absent from it, while AEON BiG employees are named in the ineligibility clause. If you do your weekly shop at BiG, this campaign is not yours.
Five kinds of transaction are struck out even at a participating store: buying AEON gift vouchers or e-gift vouchers, buying or reloading prepaid and top-up cards, paying utility or telecommunications bills, government related payments, and anything cancelled, refunded or voided.
Entries go in through a contest portal reached by QR code, with a clear photo of the original receipt. Keep the paper. AEON can demand the original at verification, a photocopy is explicitly not accepted, and failure to produce it forfeits the prize.
VIP Day: 21 stores, and the rate doubles across the aisle
AEON VIP Day is branded "Celebrating the Journey" and runs on selected Saturdays. Not all of them, and not at all stores. Seven Saturdays, three stores each, 21 stores in total, and 26 September is skipped entirely. The table above is the full list as AEON published it.
If your AEON is not on that list, you get no VIP Day this anniversary. That is the single most useful thing on this page, and it is buried in a calendar poster.
On the day, at the participating store, two voucher tiers run:
- RM5 e-voucher for every RM100 in a single receipt at AEON Supermarket, excluding Home Coordy and household items displayed in the supermarket area. This one prints together with your purchase receipt.
- RM10 voucher for every RM100 in a single receipt at the General Merchandise Department, including Home Coordy and household items displayed in the supermarket area. This one is collected at a designated redemption counter, so budget for a second queue.
Same ringgit, double the return, decided purely by which department the item belongs to. And note which side the household goods sit on: AEON's own wording puts Home Coordy and homeware in the better tier.
The trap is that your basket is scored in two separate pools rather than one total. Sixty ringgit of groceries plus fifty-five ringgit of Home Coordy is RM115 spent and nothing back, because neither pool reaches RM100 on its own.
Both tiers exclude government controlled products, which AEON lists as local rice, palm oil, sugar and flour, plus Supermarket Extravaganza items, festive hampers, infant milk powder, Eu Yan Sang products and Apple products. On the non merchandise side they also exclude AEON gift vouchers, mooncake vouchers, AEON Star Rewards items, reusable and plastic and paper bags, stamps, cigarettes, the AEON Member Plus Visa renewal fee, telco reloads and top ups for Touch 'n Go or the AEON Member Plus Visa card. The mooncake voucher exclusion is worth knowing in a Mid-Autumn month.
The games, and the one threshold that is not split
Spend RM100 in a single receipt storewide on VIP Day and you get one game entry. Note the word storewide: unlike the vouchers, the game threshold is not split between supermarket and General Merchandise, so the RM115 basket that earned no voucher still earns a game.
Two games run each VIP Day. The Wind Catcher Challenge at 2pm gives you 15 seconds inside a blower cabinet to grab as many rewards as you can, with RM5 vouchers and a myAEON2go RM100 gift voucher among the things flying around. The Sweet Scoop Challenge at 5pm gives you one scoop of candy, chocolate and snacks to take home.
The limits are strict. First 100 participants per game, first come first served, while stocks last. One receipt is one game entry per member. AEON does not say whether a second receipt buys a second turn, so ask at the counter before you deliberately split.
Birthday Bash is for September birthdays, and only on your own Sunday
Every Sunday in September, participating AEON stores run a Birthday Bash, with AEON Kota Bharu holding it on Saturdays instead. The cake cutting at 12pm is not open to everyone born in September. It is banded by birth date:
- 6 September for those born 1 to 8 September
- 13 September for those born 9 to 15 September
- 20 September for those born 16 to 22 September
- 27 September for those born 23 to 30 September
Bring the original NRIC, or a passport if you are not Malaysian. Slots are limited and first come first served.
The games alongside it are open to anyone holding a RM100 storewide receipt, birthday or not. At 2pm it is a Toast Ring Challenge on 6 and 20 September and a Mini Golf Challenge on 13 and 27 September. At 4pm it is Fun Pop Balloon every week. One receipt, one game entry.
Note the clash of timings if you are planning around both: VIP Day games run at 2pm and 5pm on Saturdays, Birthday Bash games at 2pm and 4pm on Sundays.
The tote bag and the VIP Day voucher cannot both be had
Spend RM150 in a single General Merchandise receipt and redeem one limited edition anniversary shopping bag, same day, at the customer service counter. Maximum one per member per day, limited quantity, first come first served.
There are nine designs and they release one a week: sakura from 3 September, autumn leaves from 10 September, a bonsai from 17 September, a crane from 24 September, a daruma from 1 October, a maneki-neko from 8 October, Mount Fuji from 15 October, a kimono figure from 22 October and sushi from 29 October.
Two lines in the fine print decide which day you go. Redemption is not applicable during AEON VIP Day. And the promotion is not available at AEON STYLE Supermarket Setia EcoHill, AEON United Point (Kepong) or AEON Danga Bay (JB).
So at a store whose VIP Day is 19 September, RM150 spent in General Merchandise on that Saturday returns a RM10 voucher and no bag. The same RM150 spent on the Sunday returns a bag and no voucher. If you want both, that is two visits.
What the catalogue prices look like
The "Celebrate Bigger, Save Better" flyers run 3 to 30 September and are badged up to 50% off.
From the electricals flyer: an ELBA 530L side by side fridge ESR-R5338IN(GR) at RM1,999 against a normal price of RM2,999. A Panasonic 251L fridge NR-TC300-BUKM at RM1,299 from RM1,999. An ELBA 12kg washer EWT-N1287D(GR) at RM899 from RM1,799, the only exact half price we could verify. A KHIND 9 inch circulation stand fan AC9501SA at RM99 from RM169. An AMG Vertebrae V3 ergonomic chair at RM342 from RM399.
The home living flyer leans on the number itself. One block is cut exactly 42%: an LFT26 border bath towel at RM16.82 from RM29, a LETGO Signature microfibre pillow at RM40.02 from RM69, a Pinnacle Passion 20L hard cooler box at RM103.82 from RM179. Elsewhere, an SP 3 inch trifold mattress at RM197 from RM299, a Scotch Brite NT7 dual spin mop at RM149 from RM199, Bergner Experto cookware at RM39 to RM79 against RM49 to RM119, and LETGO bath towels at RM29.90 each or any two for RM42.
Three different store lists, and none of them match
This is the part that sends people to a branch where the price does not exist.
The electricals flyer's footer covers AEON STYLE Taman Maluri and all AEON Stores except AEON Ipoh Falim, Ipoh (Kinta City), United Point (Kepong), Taman Universiti (JB), Danga Bay (JB), Permas Jaya (JB) and Kuantan. Seven exclusions.
The home living flyer, same campaign and same dates, excludes only AEON Ipoh Falim, United Point (Kepong), Danga Bay (JB) and Kuantan. Four.
Then individual products carry a third list on top of the footer. The LETGO pillow is marked unavailable at AEON Permas Jaya (JB), Ipoh Station 18 and Ipoh Falim. The Pinnacle cooler box is out at eight branches including Cheras Selatan, Bandar Puchong, Kuching Central, Setia Alam and Putrajaya. The RM15 Staedtler pencil combo is out at Taman Universiti (JB) and Kuching Central.
None of those matches the tote bag's own exclusion list either. If you are driving across town for one specific item, read the small print under that item rather than the banner at the top of the page.
The worked example
Say you are at AEON Bandar Utama on 19 September, that store's VIP Day, with RM240 to spend: RM140 of groceries and RM100 of homeware in General Merchandise.
Ring it as one RM240 receipt and you get one Spend & Win entry, RM5 from the supermarket pool because RM140 clears RM100 once, RM10 from the General Merchandise pool, and one game entry. Back: RM15 and one draw entry.
Ring it as two receipts of RM140 and RM100 and you get two Spend & Win entries, the same RM5 and RM10, and a second game entry if the counter allows it. Back: RM15 and two draw entries.
Ring it as five receipts of RM48 and you get five Spend & Win entries, no vouchers at all and no game entry. Back: nothing and five draw entries.
The five receipt version trades RM15 of certain money for four extra chances in a draw with 1,000 winners across the whole country. On these numbers, two receipts is the sensible middle.
Who should bother
Bother if you shop at AEON anyway. Spend & Win costs nothing extra, and the 1,000 cabin cases are a far better target than the 42 flight prizes.
Bother if your branch is one of the 21 and its Saturday suits you, and you have a General Merchandise purchase over RM100 waiting. Ten percent back on bedding, a rice cooker or a fan beats five percent on groceries.
Bother if you were going to buy a large appliance in September regardless. The RM899 washer is the one item in the flyers we could confirm as a genuine half price.
Skip the aggressive split if vouchers matter more to you than a lottery ticket. Splitting maximises entries and destroys every RM100 and RM150 threshold in the campaign at once.
Skip it if AEON BiG is your store. It is not on the participating list.
