We read the rate cards and terms of six car rental operators serving Langkawi airport and Kuah jetty on 17 October 2026. A Perodua Axia or Bezza starts at RM70 to RM80 a day on an ordinary weekday, but the same car costs RM110 or more over the Deepavali weekend and through December. From 1 January 2027, Budget 2027 raises the duty-free allowance on goods you take out of Langkawi and Labuan from RM1,000 plus small item caps to a single RM10,000 limit on almost all new goods. Liquor and tobacco stay out, and Labuan's qualifying stay doubles from 24 to 48 hours.

The Danna Langkawi at Telaga Harbour has a limited-time rate for Malaysia and Singapore residents, from RM1,188 a night for stays from 1 October to 30 November 2026. It includes breakfast for two, return airport transfers and a daily RM100 resort credit (RM200 for suites and villas). Rechecked on 17 October, it was still RM1,198 a night with fees, about 48% below the resort's best available rate.

Fifth Night Free took a five-night villa stay from RM86,000 to RM68,650.

Tourism Tax in Malaysia 2026: The RM10 a Night Malaysians Never Pay, and the Johor Rule That Changed on 1 September
A new federal regulation quietly took effect on 1 September 2026. P.U. (A) 307, the Tourism Tax (Amendment) Regulations 2026, moves Johor out of Malaysia's Friday-Saturday weekend group for tourism tax administration, so the tourism tax offices there now open 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday instead of 8am to 4pm Sunday to Thursday. It is a small change with a long backstory, and it lands on top of a rate order gazetted only nine months ago. We read all four instruments on the Customs Department's own portal and set out what tourism tax is, who actually pays it, who is exempt, and the separate island levy that is not tourism tax at all.
Resorts World Langkawi 2026 Packages Priced Night by Night: Sunset Cruise Deal Saves RM190, Suite Getaway Only Wins on Weekends
Resorts World Langkawi publishes five packages that all run 1 January to 31 December 2026, with member and non-member ringgit printed for every room type. The resort also publishes an a-la-carte rate for each activity it bundles, which means the packages can be checked instead of trusted. We priced all five against that list and against 92 nights of live booking-engine rates to 31 December. The Golden Hour Sunset Cruise package beats booking the same stay yourself by RM190 to RM230. The Signature Suite Getaway costs RM170 more on a weeknight but RM370 less over a Friday and Saturday. We also mapped the Genting Rewards discount room by room and found the RM10-a-night Langkawi levy that none of the package pages mention.

We re-priced every property on its own booking engine on 17 September. Langkawi's new Nourish Your Wellbeing package costs RM938 all-in for two, with a vegetarian dinner and a spa treatment, and the cheapest flexible room there is RM574.75. Redang Island Resort sells rooms at RM285 a night direct, The Taaras is 35% off for mid-October, and Berjaya Tioman's End-of-Season Sale runs to 31 October.

The partner offers are worth far more than the RM21 ferry cashback — Tropical Charters pays a flat RM120 with promo code SCTC120, open to everyone with no ferry trip or minimum stay needed — but it stops at the first 300 bookings and the cruise must be sailed by 31 October.
