Sabah Museum charges Malaysians RM2 and foreigners RM15, Mari Mari Cultural Village RM110 against RM130, and the Upside Down House in Tamparuli now charges everyone the same. None of them publishes a separate Sabahan rate.

On Mantanani island, Pay 2 Stay 4 came to RM1,547 for four people over two nights.

A PADI or SSI Open Water course costs RM1,150 to RM1,630, usually over three days in Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, with lunch, gear and boat included. We read the live rate cards of six Kota Kinabalu hotel buffets on 19 September 2026, straight off each hotel's own page or booking channel. A weekend dinner buffet starts at RM98 nett an adult at Promenade Cafe and tops out at RM200 nett if you walk in unbooked to Shangri-La Tanjung Aru's Thursday Malam Kampung. Four things the headline price hides: only Shangri-La prices a walk-in separately, so booking ahead is worth RM22 a head; Hilton and The Pacific Sutera both give a fifth seat free; only two of the six say whether the 6% service tax is inside the number; and the child age band moves from 6 to 12 at one hotel to 7 to 11 at another.

We read the fine print on both, including who the free breakfast actually covers.
Car Rental in Kota Kinabalu 2026: The Daily Rate Is the Cheapest Part, and a Midnight Handover Can Cost RM100
A Perodua Axia in Kota Kinabalu costs RM110 a day at one operator and RM140 at another, which sounds like the whole story and is not. We read seven Sabah rental companies' own websites on 8 September 2026 and the money is in the rules underneath the rate. One publishes a discount ladder that reaches 50% at 26 days. One charges RM100 to hand you the keys between 11.30pm and 6am, which is exactly when the cheap flights from KL land. One caps you at 200km from Kota Kinabalu, and a return run to Kundasang is about 180km. One prints a 5% multi-day discount in its text and a 15% one in its own table. And one is the only free check you have against the KKIA rental scam its competitor warns about: a MOTAC licence number.
Gaya Island Resort Residents' Package: RM1,299 a Night With Every Meal, Now the MATTA Fair Rate Has Closed
The MATTA Fair Residents' Package that Gaya Island Resort kept open after the 4 to 6 September 2026 fair is gone from the resort's booking engine. We re-ran it on 13 September and found only the standing Residents' Package and Be Rewarded. We also found that the engine's prices are per night, not per stay, which our first version got wrong. So here is the corrected picture: the Residents' Package from RM1,299 a night with breakfast, set lunch and set dinner for two, RM3,185.64 all in for two nights for a Malaysian couple, priced against every other rate the resort still sells.

October's WOW! panel prices five stationery lines at RM81.70 against RM165.80 usual, to 31 October, in store and on POPULAR ONLINE. Books of the Month runs to 30 November. The bookfairs are in Kota Kinabalu (1Borneo, to 14 October), Ampang (Ampang Point, 5 to 18 October) and Kuching (Emart Tabuan Jaya, to 1 November). The voucher worth keeping is Main Place Mall's RM5, valid at the Main Place bookstore until 22 October.
Everrise 33rd Anniversary RM100,000 Contest, 4 September to 31 December 2026: RM100 in One Receipt Enters You
Everrise's 33rd Anniversary flyers of 3 and 4 September carried a gold star reading "THE MORE YOU SPEND, THE MORE YOU WIN WORTH RM100,000" with no mechanic printed anywhere, and this article first read it as a supplier campaign. Everrise has since printed the rules on its 5 and 6 September sheets, and the contest is its own: 4 September to 31 December 2026, at all outlets, members who spend RM100 in a single receipt storewide, for a grand prize of RM10,000 cash, a first prize of RM5,000 cash and two Disney Cruise special prizes. QL Eggs' Beli & Menang Telur Emas, 1 August to 30 September 2026 on a minimum RM15 of QL products, is a separate contest on the same paper. The three-day members' price list ran 4 to 6 September at 19 of Everrise's 21 stores, and the four regional sheets do not agree with each other: PediaSure 1650g is RM204.99 in Kuching and RM194.99 in Miri and Bintulu. A separate one-day Members' Best Value sheet then ran on 6 September at 8 of the 14 Kuching stores and beat the anniversary sheet in the same shop on several lines.
Bataras Promotion Now: Sipitang Hypermarket Grand Opening Deals to 7 Oct 2026 — and Why the Expired Merdeka Catalogue Is Still Online
Update 24 September 2026: the only live Bataras prices right now are at the new Bataras Hypermarket Sipitang, which opened today with daily RM1, 50 sen, 20 sen and 10 sen doorbusters to 27 September and a Harga Gempak list valid to 7 October, all printed "Sipitang only". Bataras' Merdeka Bersama, Jimat Bersama catalogue ran from 28 August to 8 September 2026 across 58 named outlets in Sabah and Labuan. It has now expired — and when we re-checked on 9 September, the day after, nothing had replaced it and nothing had been taken down. bataras.com still serves all eight flyer pages, the site's media library has accepted no upload since 28 August at 2.29pm, and every dated card on the official Facebook page still reads "Sah Sehingga 08/09/2026". The prices are still on screen and none of them is valid. Two things came out of that re-check that were not in the catalogue at all: a Facebook-only price list carrying Econsave house-brand stock on Sabah shelves, which is the plainest evidence yet of the May 2025 takeover, and KAMI PATUH, Bataras' standing written promise to honour the lower price when the shelf label and the till disagree.
